  1. For me it was big watches in general, thought that they looked ridiculous. Which is why I now have a IWC FA Jones and Railmaster XXL and Breitling for Bentley and Fiddy etc etc. (except when my petite 4'11" daughter borrows them as fashion statements - routinely) JW
  2. Always the same; waterproofed BK YM on my wrist and a PAM251 in my personal electronics bag (except to Italy - then the PAM stays home). Watch #3 varies and it goes in a watch case in my carry-on. Never a gen; my hotel room was robbed a few years ago Never been bothered by anyone in customs. But then again, my wife is wearing $$$ worth of jewelry. JW
  3. Really cool R Should I recognize that 113? JW
  4. I got a PAM 287 in trade, but the crystal was cracked in transit. Excellent watch, great power reserve.
  5. I love it when I'm just cruising the forum and run across an oldie like this. After careful review and a day of contemplation, I am torn between my need to pare my collection to a single life affirming timepiece and the need to double my collection beginning with whatever strikes my fancy in the FS section. Thanks for the great read. Please feel free to start this up again. JW
  6. I realize that this wristie is fair at best, but the watch is primo and finally at home on my wrist. Originally from Eunomians, with the generously donated Vietnamese fine lined bezel from torresp, and the Zigmeister's servicing. I love this baby more than my gen YM Thanks to all!
  7. I'm in on this with a vote for the Chronisimmo. Not a fan of the bracelet, and the Kevlar reps from DiModell didn't even get mounted after I put the Chronisimmo on. (not to mention what a pain it is to change straps, braceletson the 3717.
  8. Just for the record, I like Rob, I like dealing with him, Rob is a good man and great board member. Most of all I consider him a friend, hope to meet him some day.

  9. Sweet watch, add me to the list of suitors should you ever decide to let it go. I had the BK YM, not WM9, loved it except the slight champagne tint. Really want the BK WM9 YM but I need to ease up on purchases. Again, love the watch and the mods JW
  10. My preference is and would always have been the Zigmeister but I needed that reassurance about the customs risk. It's one thing to have bought a really nice watch, another to have spent nearly $2k on a really great watch, and the reality is that I apparently purchased (been entrusted with)a piece of history. Thanks to you all once again! John
  11. Thought that I would post this here as well as the trade forum. I just bought Euno's DW VJ72 6263; cann't wait to get it tomorrow. I'm very appreciative of the opportunity to get such a great watch from such great member, with a very generous gift from another member. I really feel as though I've have a nice "home" here. The PM's with friends that I've never met etc. Thanks to RWG and everyone here, I've learned a lot and look forward to maintaining a continuing presence here. That said, I have a favor to ask. - This watch needs cleaning etc and keyless works maintainence. I have an ongoing positive relationship with the Zigmeister and would like to have him take care of this watch the way it deserves, but shipping to him and return challenges customs twice and I'm concerned. I'm CONUS - what are your thoughts?
  12. aggresive newbie on acquisition binge

  13. love this forum better than all my other bad habits

  14. At least now I know why you let that beautiful 3717 go. Sweet watch!
  15. Maybe a little altercation with a spiney lobster in a lower file drawer that only opened part way. What?? It could happen!
  16. Toad, Thanks again for such a great resource, the effort is much appreciated. I went through this as a tutorial when I first joined over a year ago, ready to do it again JW
  17. "Brutus" on FxrAndy's last strap.
  18. Excellent! It must be nice to score that one; rare and beautiful
  19. Just for the record; my wife knows which are which. All my gens are gifts from her, all her watches (mostly gens but a few reps) and jewelry are gifts from me. When someone comments on her watch, jewelry, etc. she says " My husband takes good care of me" (Truth) I never lie to my wife, and I mean never. And I am 100% open except when she asks a question like "do these jeans make me look ___?" To which I reply with a smile and "I love you" (Truth) By the way her license plate says "2nd Wife" for good reason (13years)
  20. Since I'm still fairly new to this I rotate a lot of watches. Occasionally a patient or parent will notice my watch and comment. My response - "It's an addiction" (Truth) To friends who comment: "Shhhh - My wife thinks it's a replica" (Truth) To close friends (most of whom now are atleast cruising here and RG or they own one of my old reps) "yea, I just got it for $---.00 from ________, it's the v2, and I got the strap from _________, and all it needs is _______. (Truth). Obviously I believe in the Truth; but not necessarily openness.
  21. It's a white chrono month; today's entry is my FM Casablanca on Bob brown.
  22. Porsche, first, Porsche second. Had the Chopard for just long enough to sell it for a loss. The 12 and 6 painted on the inside of the crystal are distracting and ruin the look from many different viewpoints
  23. I recommend Strap Culture, but they cost almost as much as the watch
  24. Tourneau has them "preowned" for $1300.
  25. Pardon my ignorance for which movement - six yr old gen. Love the watch - not so much the bracelet. Gets less time than my favorite reps. Didn't realize how much glare there was on the "family photo" in my new signature.
