  1. Joshua is one of best. You will not miss with him. I purchased by Tag Link from him - it had a problem and he took care of me. A man of his word.
  2. Ofrei has the datewheels. From our good friend Finepics in another thread: "Yes ETA wheels will fit the asian 7750. They can be bought from O.Frei in the US or Cousins in the UK. The part number is "Valjoux 7750 - 2557/1 - Date Ring" and they cost only a few bucks. Always quote the movt as all date rings have the same part number irrespective of the movt. In fact the whole industry had a common numbering system for all their parts so all watch movts from Angelus, Cortebert and ETA etc all have the same part numbers." I have ordered these and had them installed perfectly by The Zigmeister. The real question is --- is the standard ETA 7750 font the correct one for the Tag? Tag likes to use only the "8" in their advertizing. from the shape of that 8 - my guess is that it is indeed the standard 7750 ETA font. The one that comes with the Tag link Chrono (even the one with the closer but misaligned font) is wrong. I am not sure where that one came from.
  3. You can put a gen bracelet on the rep smp watch. I have done it. The holes do not line up perfectly however, and you have to fiddle with the end links as well as use different pins that are smaller and can be manupilated a little. But the endlinks fit great between the lugs. it is just the holes that are off. The bracelet that comes with the SMP chrono is fine - but does not compare realistically with the gen bracelet. the gen is also alot smoother and a little thinner.
  4. I have had very bad luck with the new Asian 7750. Both my Tag Link and my SMP chrono had issues. The SMP needed to be serviced. The tag was unsalvagable. If you love the watch - i would service it before something goes bad. But - that's just me.
  5. Leather is better and more distinctive. Matches nicely.
  6. Going with this one for today. Not sure about weekend yet.....
  7. Very very nice. Great detail in the pics.
  8. This is extremely well said. Who has not been a noob? I have made my mistakes - yep - i asked the dreaded "who has the best ...." and got burnt a little. But if you are really interested in learning about watches and all the details around the movements, mods, history, etc - there is no better place - and no better people to ask. Just don't ask the questions someone else has asked before. As long as you keep that in mind - then ask away. And even if you ask a question that HAS been asked before - just make sure it is a smart one. Not everyone knows the lingo and abbreviations, but this board is much more interested in helping than flaming - as long as they know you are as serious as they are. That's it.
  9. king's looks nice - but that date seems to be to far off center to the left.
  10. This is a good discussion. I was wondering, in addition to the information outlined above on the Subs - do any of them have a good bracelet - one without the sharp edges. I have bought a couple subs - but all have relatively bad bracelets. Not that they are flimsy - they all are. But that they come unfinished from the factory. I seem to remember a thread or ad from a dealer saying that the bracelet was also made smooth. Does anyone recall this?
  11. I am sure that all of us 2893 063 owners have been contemplating a fix. The obvious fix is to get a new dial. No easy feat unless they suddenly decide to make a new run of the 2836 063's. All that said, when I look at your great picture, the gen hands on the left do look shorter even with respect to the end of the dial (trying not to be affected by the optical illusion of the numbers, etc. It may be me - but i think that the whole gen dial is larger than the rep dial (did we already establish that?) by the 1MM. That would further explain the difference. Hope i am making myself clear. If I am wrong - it makes me wonder how the gen dial might fit in the rep case. would the numbers fall under the case and get cut off?
  12. That speedy is a genuine, right? Looks incredible.
  13. Chronus, I got the springbars today. Well - they seem to be working fine - however, out of the 8 that i purchased (4 thin, 4 fat) one of the 4 thin arrive defective. The end had popped off and the spring had come out. The two that i used however, seemed to work fine. Glad you found a solution.
  14. Although slightly unrelated - i would like to throw out there that if anyone plans on making Breitling datewheels - that would be great. Alot of members have various versions of the Breit's and none of these to my knowledge has a correct looking datewheel. To anyone who knows the breitlings - its a dead giveaway - especially in the low numbers. Make 7750 datewheels - and you cover most of the models......
  15. Chronus - i had the same problem with different watches. Try here - they sell all of the spring bars that you might need. I do not know if they are good or bad quality. But when I found them - i figured i would give them a try. I have not gotten mine yet. http://www.watchband.biz/pi234691376.htm?categoryId=30 It should not be this hard.....
  16. Lello, why does the new date wheel look like there is alot of white paint splattered outside of the numbers? Is that just dust?
  17. PLease count me in for 2. They look fantastic - great work. Datewheels are one of my key sticking points and you have been torturing me with those pictures for far too long!!
  18. Mark - you can count on me. Let me know when it is ready!
  19. Did anyone else see the bogus way he was putting on the hands?
