I loved George Carlin as well. The 7 dirty words was one of the most clever acts I have ever heard. Can you get a refund? I'm sure George would want to know as well............

The difference between the "good ol days" and now is that the majority of our dealers were hobbyists just like us. They usedd to post regularly on the boards and not just in teh sales section, but in general discussion and eyecandy. They had families, wives (which at one time one was used in some very nice photos) and lives outside of the replica watch world. It was nice to do business with someone where you would have an email discussion before making a purchase and haggling over price was almost mandatory. The new dealers have pushed out the old style dealings with flashy websites and easy credit card checkout. You can order from them without so much as an email. I did enjoy buying watches the old way and I miss the communication. I also miss the regular dealer postings. The previous dealers had more respect for the watches themselves and appreciation for us buyers. Now it's all business. Replica watch buying has gone the way of wal-mart only without the spectacular savings. I cannot complain too much though. I have to believe that the ease of purchasing has encouraged more people to enjoy this hobby. It is no longer a secret society. The higher volume of sales has also motivated the factories to make some spectacular reps. Maybe this could not have been accomplished in the old days.

I have two technics 1200 mk II's, a gemini mixer and a large record collection. I love the sound of vinyl and I keep the equipment around to remind me of my younger days of being a part time DJ.

Mine came with the orange tip painted on. The paint was very chalky and easily scraped off without damage to the barrel.

I have a green gas glock I bought off of ebay. It is very accurate with a lot of metal parts. I can fire through two magazines before I have to refill the gas and the gas is in the clip which is very convenient. It is semi auto with blowback and the slide locks open when empty. It is lots of fun. My ex GF told me to shoot her in the ass with it when I got it to see if it hurt (she wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed god bless her). Didn't kill her but she couldn't sit down for about 20 minutes so I concur that these can't be used for self defense. Lots of fun though. Might be worth joining that group to get one. I wouldn't mind a good skirmish now and then. As kids we used to hunt eachother with actual bb guns. Those hurt a bit more even at 20 yards.

Miami Beach. Not only is it fun and sunny but close to my home. This will be like the historic meeting of the 5 families in upstate NY. Hope customs agents don't get wind of it -
Saw this in the local paper today. Some are hilarious......... Sun Sentinel Signs

All the dealers have them. Try andrew, josh, etc........... They run about $65 which is robbery for a rep strap IMO.

GMT II Ceramic - Bezel Numbers Silver or White?
jfreeman420 replied to TmeShare's topic in The Rolex Area
I heard somewhere that the gen numbers are filled with platinum. Is this true? If so, platinum is a very easy look to duplicate. -
Yellow looks really good. I'm glad you didn't get the yellow strap You have another vote from me for the smooth strap. I have always thought the HBB would look good on stingray as well. I have been wanting to get a custom stingray strap for a while.

Don't get me wrong, the plating I have experienced has been really good. I can't confirm or deny that it is 10 mils though. I have several watches that are 4 or 5 years old and even older where the plating is as good as new. I haven't worn these daily, but I have seen them get pretty scratched up without fading. The nice thing about this hobby is you can get a pretty nice gold plated watch for $200 to $300 and if it lasts for a few years you got your money's worth. Mine have exceeded my expectations. Try Andrew or Josh or ruby for the gold yachtmaster. They have what you are looking for and the gold will last for a good amount of time.

My favorite shoe website is Momezlan Their stuff may be a bit too flashy for you guys..........
-
No, unfortunately it is not a joke. The people who recorded it got a record deal and way too much air play here in Florida.

I too have a shoe and shirt fetish. My shoes include: Mezlan (ostrich, alligator) Ferragamo Sandro moscoloni (ostrich) Gucci David Eden (crocodile) These are my favorites. 42 pair in all. I also have over 150 silk button down shirts by Tommy Bahama and Nat Nast. Nat Nast uses fare superior silk IMO.

I have had several gold yachties and i can tell you there are non that are accurate. Any of the dealers here can get you one but it won't look very good IMO. I can attest to the fact that the better reps have very thick plating but I doubt it is 10 mils. Tag heuer and movado don't even use this thickness. Thick plating is usually 2.5 mils. Normal commercial plating is only .5 mils.

Review of the MBK ROLEX Submariner 16613
jfreeman420 replied to By-Tor's topic in By-Tor's Watch Reviews
I believe you and I know there is no rhyme or reason for most of Rolex's inconsistencies. I would like to have a rep with the polished sides however. I think it looks better. I think there were some versions some time ago with polished sides I just never got one. -
Review of the MBK ROLEX Submariner 16613
jfreeman420 replied to By-Tor's topic in By-Tor's Watch Reviews
They appear to be polished in the closeup pics. I think the dullness comes from protective plastic on the bracelet. I have heard that this is true as well, but I have never seen one in real life that wasn't polished. Why would rolex polish some and not others? Since the model numbers aren't different how would they differentiate which one you get? -
Review of the MBK ROLEX Submariner 16613
jfreeman420 replied to By-Tor's topic in By-Tor's Watch Reviews
First of all, very nice review. I always enjoy reading your posts by-tor. The things that has always bothered me that no one ever addresses in these reps have to do with the bracelet. They never get the coronet right on the clasp. They also never get the thumbnail imprint correct, but the one thing that bothers me most is the sides of the bracelet aren't polished. Every modern two tone sub I have seen has the sides of the bracelet polished. Why are these still brushed? Is it just the angle that makes them appear brushed or is it something they refuse to do? -
"And when you are part of the admin team you can post things in any section you wish". Very good post TT. It brightened my day a bit.
-
Wow, they would have charged you 19% tax? Isn't that a bit excessive? I wonder if you had a rep in there would the customs agent wearing a rep have siezed it?
-
Also there is not supposed to be swiss on the bottom and it should say 100/330 maybe the "submariner" is ok but the dial is fake or redial.
-
Um, I don't think it is supposed to say "submariner" on the dial for one this old, am i wrong?
