  1. So how do you measure to find 42 or 45.5? I thought it was the bezel diameter?
  2. Ok, here is a pic from last time to refresh your memories Added some titanium white to the bottom of the cleaned markers. Markers lumed and going back on. All done! So now this is where it gets strange.... I took the movement out of my "UPO" and removed the dial... My original one is the one on the left. The one that I just lumed is the one on the right. notice the size difference? the pins on the back don't match either. My dial measures 42mm across, the one I lumed is 44mm My watch measures 45ish mm across the bezel. Is mine a UPO? What is the new dial from? Thanks.
  3. For 100 it would have to be superluminova. There is no way i'm payng 100 for rep lume that's the right color.
  4. YEAH! And I hated the review! . . . Wish mine would get here already lol.
  5. Well, mine is only a couple of months old and is my daily beater. It seems to be holding up just as good as any quality watch should. You're going to be hard pressed to find a stronger bracelet. I paid for a swiss ETA version, and have verified that it is a true swiss ETA 2824. The 2824 is a well documented movement that sells in watches for many times the price of a UPO. Fixing a crown tube is pretty easy. Getting a chief double AR (which is better than the gen) is pretty easy. Both are far cheaper than getting a gen. If you're going to actually wear it, think about having a scratched up $3k watch in 2 years instead of $2500 in the bank for your next rep. There is no wrong answer, this is just my opinion.
  6. I think the only big difference would be the lack of a proper warranty, but is it worth the extra few thousand for a year or two?
  7. Want to see how crazy I am? Part 1 I removed all of the markers with a very small screw driver. Soaked them in nail polish remover overnight, and scraped out the old lume/varnish with a toothpick. You can see how the dial appears to have been handled quite a bit. It was that way before I received it. Rodico did not help. Neither did dish soap lol. Any other ideas? I did not try rubbing alcohol yet. The logo on this dial seems to be flat whereas my UPO is domed? Gonna re-lume it tomorrow.
  8. "I could never pull one of these off...but I could hold it in the dark and covet it!! " Turning Japanese? (as in the song)
  9. My guess would be no. The stamping looks wrong.
  10. I have a spare PO dial that I would like to lume, and it seems kind of shiny near the center like it has been handled a lot. Is there some way to clean it without damaging it? Thanks in advance.
  11. Are we 100% sure no tritium? I'd buy 2 or 3 if it was H3.
  12. C1 and C3 are from RC Tritec http://www.rctritec.com/index.php?id=13 They are the only distributors of SuperLuminova, and it is supposed to be the best stuff on the market. If you are looking to get a lume that is the same as a genuine watch, this is where you get it. I have not used noctilumina, but I have used A*F Luminova and Nitro Lume. Both seem O.K. I'm going to have to order some C1 and C3 to try them out as well. Reluming is not for the faint of heart. Try it on something that WILL be destroyed.
  13. I can't seem to find your comparison The Zigmeister. I did a search but no luck. Thanks.
  14. Forgot to mention... Although this was my first attempt, the Nitro Lume seemed pretty easy to apply. Easy being a relative term lol. I spilled the bottle of thinner that I got from the AF kit, does anyone know where I can source something similar on the cheap?
  15. I would love to get some C1/C3 RC Tritec for comparison. I'm suprised that nobody has posted a comparison before with the AF Luminova. Of course the problem is it costs a fortune! Does anyone know of a dealer in Canada or the US?
  16. Problem solved, someone is sending me a replacement. Won't make that mistake again.
  17. I lost a gear didn't I... *!@$%%!!!! and the back just for reference.
  18. Howdy peeps I bought a 177h, and decided that it would be the candidate for my first relume attempt. I figured that a sandwich dial would be easier than trying with my UPO. I also have a spare set of UPO hands that I would try. I phoned Ofrei, and tried to order some C3. The person on the phone had no idea what I was talking about other than "green luminous powder", so I said what the heck I'll try it plus a bottle of orange refill. I also ordered the 3 bottle Nitro Lume deal from Flav. I already had a few bottles of pre-mixed pigments from Ready-Set-Glow that I know are strontium aluminate so i figured I would do a quick and dirty little test card. Turns out Ofrei sent me C7 - Grrr. The C7 (green) from AF Luminova is at the top left of the card. It's way too green under normal light. Next is the orange. All the rest on the top row are R-S-Glow. The bottom row consists of the 3 colours of Nitro Lume. (the happy face is the green Nitro Lume) So as it turns out, My UPO and my Seiko Arctura last almost as long as both the Nitro Lume and the AF Luminova - About 6-7 hours readable in low light (not pitch black). I did not test longer because it was time to get up and get the kids breakfast hehe. Ok back to the PAM. I laid out the materials, stripped the lume off all the hands with nail polish remover, and cooked up a batch of a mix of green and blue Nitro with clear nail polish. During the process of stripping the lume off the PAM hands, I chipped the black paint. *^$*&%^$##@!!!! Off to the hobby store to pick up some flat black paint. Picked up some titanium white as well for the dial. Ok painting and filling hands... Thought I would mix up some some orange and add some clear red to get a glowing tip to the UPO second hand some UPO samples... some time later, hard to see but the Nitro Lume is lasting slightly longer.... Ok so I didn't like the colour for the PAM and I decided to mix up straight blue. Ok now here is the problem. I can't seem to get the hour hand to fit back on the stem (and I messed up the black hand paint). It seems loose. Did I lose a part or something? The minute and second hands go on fine.
  19. Heh heh... Everybody that actually uses a mac loves it (even coming the windows world). Everyone that uses windows exlcusively bashes the mac, and they never speak of how great windows is to use. To each his own i guess. I'm just glad there is competition out there or we would have been stuck with vista. smc
  20. Google street view is also very cool. smc
