  1. The VC looks nice. So does a Daytona/Cosmograph. Just about anything gold or TT looks good too.
  2. Looks like a bad repaint. There are holes where applied markers used to be but they were ground off from the back. If I were you I would try to get my money back.
  3. I agree. These are not investmens, they are value, well made, good looking workhorse watches that are meant to be worn and loved.
  4. I think that a GMT II (non ceramic) is perfectly acceptable with a suit in a business environment. I wouldn't wear it for a formal occasion though.
  5. Just a quick update... Doesn't work.
  6. Not unless you're lucky. They're out of production as well.
  7. Not rare, but also not for sale anymore unless you are lucky to find one left over at a dealer. Check prices on WUS, a complete 95% watch that's still got it's serial number is going for around 1100 - 1200 as long as it's the automatic movement. The 2255.80 is my favorite (I own one), but the 2254 is a classic, and feels MUCH MUCH nicer than a sub. The cal 1120 in these is a workhorse that has proven itself and is one of the best movements in the business. I think mine ticks more smoothly than my friends gen GMT Master II. MUCH nicer. And a great deal for the quality you get for the money.
  8. "Welcome to the jungle" as the saying goes lol. It sure is fun though.
  9. Looks like a white balance issue to me as well.
  10. I'll probably end up buying a sea-dweller or GMT someday but it would always play second fiddle to my SMP. It's one of those watches where you can instantly feel the quality engineering (unlike rolex).
  11. Yup the iphone could use a lot of work. Not going to give mine up though, there are a lot of great apps (lots of crappy ones too). Oh, btw personal experience - mine has not crashed yet after 3 months. My various flavours of blackberries and WM devices crashed regularly - daily in the case of WM. It's a refreshing change.
  12. Personal preference really... I fell in love with the 2255.80 and put it on Omega mesh.
  13. How sure are you that it's gen? I was looking at an "replacement" case that looked gen and even had an early '70s serial number on it along with a gen crystal/tube/crown. I pressured the seller enough that they admitted that it was an aftermarket replacement case.
  14. Good going guys, now he's going to hate the watch till it gets a new pearl!

    Rolex GMT 1675

Good answer. Now I have a dilemma... I love lume, so I'm not sure if a vintage is right for me

Ok I have no idea - just asking questions because I might start looking for one... If this watch is from the mid '70's, it would not have SL, so is this a tritium dial? It does say t<25 on it. Is it a redial - if no, how come the markers are so white?
  18. Nice collection! These are growing on me again. Maybe I'm getting old
  19. If you're consistently losing time, it could be alien abductions. Just sayin'.
  20. The blue on the current rep is wrong, but I like it way better than the gen colour
  21. My first modern rep was the UPO. I loved the size. Then I bought a SMP 2255.80. Now I appreciate watches that are a little smaller in size - 40-42mm. I don't seem to bang them off everything in sight even though it is only a few mm size difference.
  22. Yeah that does look good. I think it looks even better than the steel bracelet on that watch! I was toying with that as well but ended up with the mesh for my electric blue - it's plenty comfy as well in case you were thinking about it (plus it doesn't pull hairs).
  23. Very nice! Very shiny!
