  1. cool post, astro!...thanks!... @ swd --> what is that chick in your avatar doing?!...
  2. thanks, BM!... yeah - when i got my white dial utc i, too, was disappointed that it was 12 hour...i just set it the same as the hands on the main watch...i bought my v2 CA sight unseen from a respected member...didn't even know it had a utc...when i discovered it was 24 hour clock, i was thrilled...pretty cool... R-
  3. @I3x --> i think it needs a high CP fix... @wl1 --> heyyy...thanks, man!...dial is DSN... @All --> can't recall whether or not all these movements are engraved plates on top of the movement or if there's different versions...also, i seem to recall that some of the engraved versions are better than others...so i'm lookin for one that is decent quality and that looks pretty darn good!... R
  4. awesome idea, Andy...pvd'ing a bb case...hmmmmmmm...you thinkin of doing the bracelet, too?!... i love the Bird...one of my favorites...it would look hot with a nice pvd...hmmmmmmmmmm.........
  5. i have both versions...ok, ok -- yeah i'm a bit of breitling dork... my v1 "old school, closed factory, super edition that is impossible to get anymore" is enroute to me from The Z - freshened up with some chrono service and chief's double AR...can't wait... my v1: now check this out...while my v1 was lounging up North, I sent my v2 (same version as in this post) up North, too...why you ask?...well b/c i decided that if he could swap the dial and hands from the v2 onto the v1, this would be the best of both worlds...(reference andreww's "Chrono Avenger Primer & Review" for the why)...what Z found out was that he couldn't do it...i'm thinkin it's because one has the a7750b1 movement and the other is different...so it was a no go...i don't know all the gory details, but Z emailed me that after spending an hour working it, nothing would go - so we abandoned the attempt...interesting...hell - if he can't make it happen, you know something's different... my v2 CA came with a 24 hour utc bracelet - an older stock v2 that was quite a few years old...the utc bracelet is now on my v1 Seawolf ti...so what's to become of my v2 CA (same as the one in this post) -- it'll go up for sale soon... andreww has done a great job modding his pearl...love to find out how?!... R
  6. thanks, A...what i learned with my gen Aerospace was that you couldn't buy just the UTC module and add it to an existing bracelet...you had to buy an entire UTC bracelet... R-
  7. out of curiosity, what size is your wrist and what are the lengths of each strap piece...and if you could, what's the length of the clasp... thanks...R
  8. A - you are soooooo right...my v1 ss white dial CA with UTC weighs a ton...but its great fun to wear...i should have it brushed...hmmmmmmmm...say - any idea if the UTC bracelet was an option with the Seawolf or was it just with the CA?... R-
  9. Hey... I have a PAM 117 that will eventually need a e-series movement in order to make it "right" (pun intended)...the gen 117 was part of a small patch of less than 300 watches ever produced with the e-series movement only... nice, huh?!... I currently have this movement (an h-series): I'd love to find THE BEST e-series movement that looks like this - and yes, i know it would be upside down in a destro! (gen picture): A respected member suggested i contact Angus for one and/or check out the watches that PWC sells to snag one...My question isn't as much where to get one, but rather are there different versions, what are the diffs and who has one of the best ones? Would like to swap my movement out for an e-series...if you also have one "to spare" pls let me know...willing to also swap my movement with yours... Thanks...R
  10. as the topic says, how can you tell?...assuming you are planning to use a crystal press to remove/reinstall it, does it matter?...does a glued in crystal need to be reinstalled via glue or can it be pressed in?... re: glued in crystals...is there a best solvent to use to clean it up prior to reinstallation?...if glue is needed to put it back, what kind?... full disclosure...i am curious about all this...i may have a watchsmith remove some crystals...i have no clue if they are glued or pressed in...so wondering if there's a way to tell...and what issues/problems might arise with working with a glued crystal...i doubt i'll ever do this myself -- but you never know...so i'm just trying to learn...if there's a post on this, i cannot find one... thanks...R
  11. Andy -- i have a 12 hour UTC mounted on the polished ss bracelet that came with my v1 white dial "fantasy" CA (same casing and details as the ti version, but in ss)...i got the UTC module by buying a cheapo breitling that had one...i then worked it...mine came brushed - so i had a local jeweler polish it up to match the polished ss bracelet...check out the cheapo breits to see if there's one that you could do that with...i have a Blackbird, too...i'd have to check to see if you could "splice" one into the amazing existing BB bracelet...the BIGGEST issue i see is finding a black dial one that doesn't distract from the BB dial...the cheapo ones, don't have any AR and i'm definitely sure that the black colors won't match...i'm lucky that the black 24 hour utc i have on this one, does actually have a AR...so it looks perfect!...Jakub's double AR is slightly blue...and its pretty darn close to what the stock 24 hour UTC has...good luck!...R
  12. nice work, Zack... a sharp, value watch!... this post is exactly why i bought this watch in the first place and then sold it as a "test drive" edition...geeez - the "ultimate" ROOs cost a ton...and sometimes, you just need to try one for size, feel, weight, etc before splurging... bought two, sold one...kept one for fun wearing...i like it, yes!...but not enough at this stage to warrant an "ultimate" automatic...afterall, there arr still a few Breitlings i have my eye on?!... R
  13. this little ole thang for another day!... R-
  14. hey...gotta love titanium!... put this watch together...Seawolf head and Chrono Avenger UTC bracelet... got the Seawolf from sd4k...Jakub (k2222) double AR...gen dial -- what a difference a gen dial makes!... ...this watch was profiled in his amazing review: sd4k's Seawolf test/review picked up a v2 ti Chrono Avenger from a senior member...this was one of the older stock models that actually came with a 24 hour UTC module...not all UTC modules have actual 24 hour movements - some have 12 hour movements...swapped the bracelets -- which are the same - no difference to me... so this badboy will be join its younger siblings, the v1 Chrono Avenger ti -- which is back enroute to me from the Canadian Spa, after some service and cheiftang double AR coordination -- and my v1 polished ss white dial "fantasy" Chrono Avenger with 12 hour UTC bracelet...a family portrait is planned after the v1 CA arrives...aye!... the v2 Chrono Avenger UTC donor watch is sadly realizing that it will be finding its way to the FS section in the next week or so...stay tuned... for more information on Chrono Avengers, please read andreww's excellent "primer/review" on this terrific watch: andreww's primer/review of the Chrono Avenger enjoy the pix... R- (note: my wrist is 7.5" or so...)
  15. there's absolutely no conceivable way i would EVER answer this question "publicly"... because should my significant other ever search me out, i would be living on the streets with nothing on but an overcoat stuffed with watches... R-
  16. here's another one, Big Mike, to help you join the breitling fishing party!... R-
  17. in honor of red's new swissfish...v1 Seawolf w/ k2222 double AR, gen dial/rehaut, 24hr working utc bracelet... something to aspire to, my friend... R-
  18. woo hoo!!!... looking good, my friend...got one, too!... you will find that this is one of THE best watches...straps unlimited in variety/style!... ya know, when i was deciding on black vs. grey skyland, Lani did a great compare shoot...thanks, too, to Lani who is what RWG is all about!... great pix, too...really awesome...you must be a pro?!... wear it well... R-
  19. when it grows up, it'll be a super avenger... i prefer Breits with numbers... looks good tho... R-
  20. cool...ya know, that could be why the top one broke... from the visual eye, the top one (the one that broke from the Omega) does look a little smaller overall than the bottom one (from the FM)...you can kinda see that from the pix, too - altho i held the camera close and took a macro shot - so there is an optical difference in the pix, too...all in all the two are close, but the bottom one is larger overall... i also discovered that the crown didn't have a rubber gasket in it before i put it in the vinegar...is there a source for this, somewhere... ahhhhh - the joys of this hobby... R...thanks for your expertise and advice!... R-
  21. I just took some quick pix of the stems...i tried to line them up as best i can...the bottom one is slightly farther to the right than the top one... The top one is the stem from the Omega seagull st-19 (per by-tor review of this watch) The bottom one is the stem from the FM Casablanca handwind (josh has these listed as venus 75?!?!...is there a 75 or is this a typo for 175?... any info/advice/learnings is appreciated, Z!...i didn't want to "try it out" if its wrong...don't want to screw up the movement...pls let me know what you think... R-
  22. Zig... I need a stem for a seagull st-19...i have an Omega Broad Arrow seagull st-19...i pulled the crown out to set the time and ended up with the crown in my hand...the end broke off inside the crown...the crown is now soaking in white vinegar...soooo, i will need a replacment stem, Z...if my watches haven't shipped yet, can you toss one in...and let me know the cost... Here's a question...i have an old broken FM handwind...which is seagull/venus175/whatever...definitely a silmilar movement to the one in the Omega...so i checked out the stem...the two stems are slightly different...definitely same size, but the "bulging" piece closes to the crown is different on the two...i'm not an expert and can shoot some pix later if need be...describing the stem - from crown to movement: threads, round'ish bulge1, small 1mm of thread, round'ish bulge2, stem rectangular cylinder end... so all this said, does the stem have to be identical...or would the older, but slightly different, FM one work... attached is a macro pix of the Omega stem... thanks...R
  23. beautiful...very nice...love the looks and size of the Navi World/GMT... my REP off-white dial World/GMT is leaving the Canadien spa with its new chief'd crystal...can't wait!...R
  24. well done...that "5 Superior" is a beauty!... i have an orange monster on ss, and a ti/gold blue dial solar...both keepers... wear your seikos well...and keep me in mind should you get bored with the "5 Sup"... R-
