It was a real treat today getting to try on my friend's newly acquired 305. It wears well for 47mm and appears to have a slightly lower profile than the 243. I have an average size wrist... and it didn't wear as big as my 217 rep. Also, it didn't have the tendency to roll on my wrist like most 47mm's I've tried. Big thumbs up for this baby :cool:. Case back would be easy compared to the movement. An Angelus movement ain't gonna be repped... not a big enough market.

Well this is certainly interesting

The Radium Girls ingested the Radium by licking the points on their lume application brushes, totally unrelated to wearing a Radium dialed watch. Here's the bottom line... Radium is comprised of a number of isotopes - including 223, 224 & 226 - all of which are present, in various quantities, in any 'lump' of the substance. These isotopes are hazardous, but only at very short distances. They do emit highly energetic charged particles (Alpha & Beta), but these particles do not travel very far at all... they will not penetrate the skin from an external source, for example. So wearing a radium lumed watch is no problem whatsoever - the 'dangerous' particles (aka 'radiation') will not make it through the glass or metal of the watch, let alone into your skin.

The type of emissions from Radium are not strong enough to penetrate the case, movement and case back to a degree that's harmful long-term, especially given the amount typically used on a dial. The real danger was the direct exposure to the Radium dust inhaled by the unprotected dial makers back in the day.

Finally figured out how to get a good cellphone pic today...

Not sure who the hands are from, but comparing to gen again over the weekend, they're as spot-on as I've ever seen as well as the CP finish. Exact length of hands and width of lumed area all good. Did well against pic in Special Editions catalog too. Hand stack height was also 1:1 correct. Jus sayin'

Helmut... yes I can see this as a daily beater for awhile as it is very comfortable to wear plus has a direct link to the past with the case and dial that is great to look at.

I was told that it started life as a watch from PWC and definitely not DSN.

Picked this one up today during my lunch break. Seeing it in person blew me away. It definitely has that extra something quality about it... probably because at one point, I was told, member robertb had owned it and worked his magic on the cg and probably the case as well. Whatever was done, this is one rep that I would highly recommend to anyone! Quick wristy pic this evening... more pics to follow this weekend.

I always seem to have several on my computer table. It's where I do strap changes as well as polishing and re-brushing. So here's a pic of the current 4 that are hanging out... something new, old, in between and one that's just visiting ready to be shipped. I like black and white with a little film grain effect added.

You are absolutely right. Since I've been back I've tried 5 other straps on it and no magic. These 2 were made for each other.

When I saw this strap combined with this watch, there was absolutely no question that I had to posses it. Gunny has done his homework with his new MI Series. Having gen strap samples helped as well. Combine those ingredients with his obvious talent and you have vintage 1:1. Also note in the close up, he has done the correct single piece of leather, skived, folded into 3 layers and stitched. Most makers opt out for 2 pieces, which is easier but not accurate. Another nice touch are the bits of paint between the strap lugs. Back in the day when the leather in this area would blacken with use it was often touched up with paint, trying to match the leather as best they could. With time it would wear off some and eventually look exactly as Gunny has done it.
