  1. 12, 3, 6 and 9 seconds markers on the gen dial are thicker than the rep. On the gen the arrow logo overlaps when it crosses near the top, on the the rep they forgot to complete the overlap (left it partially open). Spacing is too tight for the "RAI" in PANERAI on the rep dial.
  2. The 88 is as classic as it gets besides being very well repped.
  3. Prices are all over the place for 243's these days. Originally I wanted a T dial (I or J) but hey, not much difference in lume appearance the first 5-7 years anyway. So this LN K series came along at a "deep discount" and I grabbed it. Sometimes the dial and crystal look flat, other times domed (which they are) depending on how the light hits it. The bezel markers are polished (reps are brushed I believe, so polishing them would be a good mod) and contrast nicely with the brushed bezel depending on the light. The weight is pretty substantial for 44mm, but with the supplied rubber strap, wears very comfortably. The cyclops isn't quite as noticeable due to the thicker than usual crystal, which is nice. Another thing I like is the crown is nice and thick which really adds to the chunky tool look. Last pic taken with my cell at a little gtg.
  4. Picked this one up yesterday... my first sub. A little heavier on the wrist today than I thought it would be, but still a very comfortable combo with the rubber strap.
  5. Now that's a white dial I could love. A less complicated white dial can be pretty boring to my eyes but that 188 is another story! Congrats on your daylight chrono projects... The Zigmeister's talent never ceases to amaze.
  6. That one looks great with the buckle change. Love the color/patina!
  7. Congratulations... great pics and welcome to the club!
  8. Mine is an earlier one, not part of the numbered edition she's currently offering. I got lucky on the stitching but the buckle isn't numbered and has her logo on the underside instead.
  9. Picked this up @ paneristi and it's as close to the real deal as one could hope for. Right thread size, stitches per inch, color of thread plus just the right amount of aging. 1:1 construction and highly recommended.
  10. Well done... makes more sense than reshaping the cg feet.
  11. The 312 is great, you wouldn't regret it. I've seen several listed BNIB @ paneristi for $6500-7000. I still love mine. BUT... don't ignore the Rolex Deep Sea. At 43mm it looks as big as most PAM subs AND blows away engineering-wise ANY sub Panerai has ever produced. It is flat out Rolex's finest watch EVAHH! Can easily be had for $7000 in both M and V. It's a looker in person. On my radar big-time!
  12. Ah... put me on the want list for one of those! I've noticed that the thread appears to have been dyed at the same time the leather was, hence the exact same color of thread and leather for the several I've been fortunate enough to see in person.
  13. That one really deserves an OEM strap. Treat yourself... there are several listed in Acessories Corner @ paneristi. Iv'e never been much of a Rad guy until lately and this model is starting to grow on me. I really like yours. Maybe I'll see it in Sept. at the GTG?
  14. He also has a gen PAM217 listed with correct everything for approx. $18K. If you look at his ad for the one you linked, he never said it was genuine or implied it. Also, he never listed the model # or date of manufacture. He did all of that with his gen version. The guy's legit... you just got excited and that looks like what he was aiming for with the vague description. I think I would have too if I was new to Panerai.
  15. Everything in the pics is rep. Also, the rep booklet and reg. card don't have the correct font.
  16. I hope I get a chance to meet Speedy when I'm back in Chicago for the GTG in Sept.
  17. I think you misunderstood other's comments and will find that we are pretty much in agreement with you. No reason to get defensive as far as I can see.
  18. Speedy sounds like a great guy. His Saturday workbench sessions with local RG members are legendary.
  19. Totally agree with your last sentence. Excellent advice!
  20. I love 6152/1 projects. Your's turned out great, but have to agree with others and suggest toning down the reddish orange in the indices and maybe make it a little uneven. Congratulations and well done!
  21. It's starting to get pretty spooky how good the guys from Germany are at capturing the look and feel of these historic pieces.
