  1. Agreed. If someone was too worried about banging up a watch, they could always sell it and use a couple of those bucks to purchase a framed print of the watch they adore- heck, I'm sure that someone here would take a great photo of one for them to print off, we've got some great photographers here! I have to chuckle a little bit when I first read this post, thinking about those here who go to great lengths to "vintagize" their reps with oven baked and tea stained dials, dinged up cases, scratched crystals and missing pearls... Each time you wear it and something happens, think of it like the marks a parent puts on a door jamb to record the growth of their child. It's not really yours until it has a little character!
  2. I'm looking for something that I can use to shoot some nice closeups myself, here's one idea that I'm going to try until I find one... Someone pointed this out somewhere so I can't take credit for the find, only the sharing.... http://www.flickr.com/cameras/ Good place to see how many people are using the camera you're interested in and what they've shot with it. I haven't found one yet that didn't take nice pics
  3. Holy carp, that's the ugliest eBay auction page I've ever seen! I second the comment about the date wheel, that's terrible!
  4. Sorry to hear about your difficulty Joshua, unfortunately it's part of the game we all have to play when we ship to different countries. The last watch I shipped went to a military base in Germany USPS which I've been told by the purchaser was unlikely to have any problems. Just wondering if it helps to send the "product" in a box from something else like a very small light fixture?
  5. That is sexy for sure...
  6. Da pitchur... Hmmmm... Price does seem a little high, but not extremely unreasonable. Look at it this way, chances are you won't see too many other people wearing it...
  7. Very nice , I especially like the clasp... may have to git me one o' dem...
  8. Another question: I found this while looking for a DG4813... Found Here >>> For this kind of money, I certainly wouldn't mind paying a little extra if this makes sense to have a movement that sounds like it has an advantage over the others. Thoughts on this? Details: Model: DG 4813 Beats/Hour: 28,800 Size: 26.00mm (11
  9. I thought I had posted this somewhere on here but can't seem to find it, so here it is again... Ugly you say? Look deeper...
  10. He Valve doesn't look right to me... Gen
  11. The 12 is off center?
  12. That's awesome. The thing that makes it for me are the curves. Very modern and reeks of class!
  13. Well I looked and didn't see this yet so I'm throwing it in! Fantasy? Rolex...
  14. I think this at least deserves a reference image...
  15. Loving the first and second. if someone made even a fantasy version that looked exactly like this one, I'd be all over it! It would have to be the same size as a Sub though!
  16. freddy333, you are wise sir... Hmmmm. It may have to wait though, I found this and now I have to sell one of my watches for it... I know, kind of going in a different direction but I keep going back to it. Since this one won't last long, I'll have to start saving my pennies for the one that will.
  17. I'd rather go without than wear something that screams FAKE! The more I see people customize their vintage watches, the more I like them. Some go too far though for my taste- like the ones that look like they were dug out of a grave or 5 alarm fire...
  18. Seeeeeeeeee! THAT's why I look before I leap! Thanks for the feedback indyberetta.
  19. Daytona 6263 White Dial $258 Size: 39mm Case: 316L Steel Glass: Plexi crystal Function: Hours, Minutes, Sub-seconds, Chronograph Bezel: black bezel ring with tachymeteer Clasp: Double Deployant Dial: White with Black sub-dials Water Resistance: 30m Specials: General Description: Asian Lemania copy manual winding chronograph movement One of my all time favorite watches. I was thinking about adding a vintage riveted bracelet like this I know it's not perfect but it's one of the first ones that I found. The only thing my amateur eye can pick up is the crown on the clasp but I can live with that until I found a gen version. For $25, seems fair enough for a bang around bracelet. I was hoping to get some feedback from members that have purchased this before... Thanks!
  20. I can attest to this! I'm working with another member to resolve something with PureTime right now and I can't say enough about the service and communication we're getting (though it's with Peter in this case). I feel very comfortable about putting PureTime at the top of my list of vendors. It always seems that those that have a issue are the ones you hear about but rarely from the hundreds of others who are very happy about their transaction. I think that people who have purchased through them do so because they have a great reputation and figure filling up the forum with positive remarks would be taking away from more important topics that show up in the View New Posts. Just my take on it... Like any purchase though, do your research- something I can't stress enough. The forum is filled with incredibly detailed reviews, comments, suggestions and feedback about what is good and not so good. Your ultimate satisfaction is more your responsibility than the vendors. They'll sell you what they have, you just have to make sure that it's what you really want.
  21. I was wandering around the net doing some research online and found this site http://www.onlygoodtimepieces.com/watchhands.htm It's mostly vintage watches, but the page I started out on was for hands. 22. For posterity...
  23. Links are nice, I'm finding some in the link found at the bottom of my siggy, though most of what I've come up with there so far seems a little cryptic, and certainly not noobie friendly... I agree with you slask111, that Ebel is absolutely beautiful. Too bad so many of the other reps out there can't be at least that good to start with.
  24. Wow, there's a work of art for ya! I love to see things that are truly unique and this one hits it on the head.
