It's so small though, too small for any manly wrist...

Here's a photo of the one I just purchased from Sql_pl on his wrist and on its way to me... So above and domed... Gen for comparison...

Wow, that doesn't look like any Ostrich I ever saw! Are you sure it's Ostrich???

I love being married. I was lucky enough to find someone who is the love of my life and my best friend all in one to share my life with and I hope this is the same for you. With that said...

All of the links are supposed to be straight across, don't tell us you got one of those with the angled links! J/K Post some pics so we can tell you for sure about the clasp. As far as the stiffness of the links, many watch bands need some lubrication. There's some good posts on the best way to do this, I can't think of them right off hand. It's better to have a band that has tight tolerances than to have something that comes in loose...

There are so many different versions of the Rolex DSSD out there, and a hundred times more dealers to choose from. In an effort to make things a little easier, I thought I'd put together some of the latest versions that I found. Below are the photos and prices, and I only took the time to include the image and not the movement or other details. In my mind, if it looks like VW, I'm not going to try to pass it off as Porsche, even if the VW has a Porsche engine in it. Overall, none of these have every element to make it the best. Some have excellent date windows, or great Ring Lock printing, while others use the wrong lume dots (the easiest thing to fix!), or the fat boy HEV's. Ack. So, here are the photos, prices and notes regarding the HEV that may or may not be shown in the photo.... EuroTimez: $298 / Incorrect HEV Asian7750 (don't ask me why this is here): $349 / Correct HEV / Horrible Date Window Precious Time: $no price given This was the only site that I found that tried to mislead people by showing two different watches. The photo below shows a great beveled window and lume markers on the only date window close up... The rest of the photos posted under "Supreme" are of this watch... Perfect Clones: $438 / Correct HEV 1 Perfect Clones: $438 / Correct HEV 2 Perfect Clones: $438 / Correct HEV 3 Puretime: $388 / Correct HEV Timeshop: $210 / Incorrect HEV TimeShop: $374 / Correct HEV Trevor Watch: $215 / Incorrect HEV Watcheden: $325 / Correct HEV Watcheden: $408 / Incorrect HEV If there's a version or dealer out there that needs to be included, let me know and I'll add it. I didn't include Hont because he's another one that you have to email for prices. I had trouble getting his site to load, and I seem to remember that the last DSSD I saw there was not worth considering.

Check with any of the trusted dealers if you're interested in something they don't list. Most are very good about researching it for you, and will let you know if it's available or not. Chances are if you've found an unusual watch that looks exactly like the gen, it's going to be too good to be true...

While reviewing the sales area, I've noticed for a long time that people have the ability to either remove all information or replace the asking price to SOLD. This is very disappointing to see. For myself, I like to know what the fair market value is for watches being sold here. From a sellers standpoint, it's very convenient to have this information available in that sellers research the forums previous sales to determine if their asking price is in line. Likewise, a buyer can research an item to ensure they are paying a fair price. For sellers to remove this information is a disservice to the community and the forum that allows them to sell here. Some might argue that when offers are made, the asking price is not accurate. To this, I would suggest that seeing comments and length of time on the board would then be taken into consideration when determining a pricing strategy. Others might argue that it may not be anyone's business. To that I suggest that if you have a public offering, it is, at least as much as the information that was presented publicly. There is one other benefit to preventing members from editing their sales posts, which is the ability of the buyer to review the listing once the item is received and the item has been inspected. Discrepancies can then be challenged and protects both the buyer and seller from any misunderstandings. Removing the ability to edit in the sales area, in my opinion, far outweighs any benefits of keeping it as it is and I urge the admins to consider changing this feature which in the end will provide a more valuable service to the community as a whole.

Lani is THE most politically correct person I know. If we were to see a photo of him, I would imagine he'd look like a giant teddy bear with muscleman arms...

Falling in love with the DSSD, then trying to creat the "perfect" DSSD on my own. I have about 4 useless movements, 6 pairs of hands, 2 broken crystals, 3 extra bands, more teeny-tiny screws than I know what to do with...

Replacement DSSD insert correct 10
ThinkBachs replied to lanikai's topic in The Two R's Watch Reviews - Lani & Ubi
I keep checking the mail for mine to come in. As far as sanding down the backside, I would use a figure 8 motion. As long as the edges look good, the rough back will give the clear RTV something good to hold on to- and I second the clear RTV as an adhesive which can be found at any auto store... -
The dials are 28mm, as far as the ring locks go, I couldn't say...I would think you could turn the ring lock around, it seems to me that the piece is square on the sides. Give it a nice polish and your set to go.

This is very surprising to read, he was one of the first to make me feel welcome when I first showed up. Nice guy in my book, hope things get worked out.

I was checking on the progress of something I ordered from Eurotimez and found some new images of the Upgraded DSSD V5 dial and ring lock. To make it easier, I'll post the latest images here... The only thing that concerns me is it seems like the dial print is a hair thicker than it should be, but I'm happy to see that the lume markers are nice and thin as well as a very nice beveled date window. Over all, it's great to see a dealer who is listening to our comments/suggestions/gripes and working to improve a product they sell. In my mind this is the best version to get, especially if you can source an HEV to replace the one that comes with the watch. Not that it's really bad, but it seems to be one of those things that I can't seem to stop obsessing over. Good job ET.

I like it too, very classy!

A couple suggestions. Pick a particular area in automotive journalism and concentrate on that 100%. Learn everything you can and more about that particular area. This means more than antique cars for instance, get more specific and run with it. The other thing I would do once you figure out what area you want to concentrate on is join some auto forums and read like crazy and participate. Once you start to feel comfortable, look for events in your area or close by that you can attend and start doing your stuff. If the guys know you from the forum, they'll be more than happy to help you in any way they can. Two things to remember about this is forums can be political so watch everything you say. The other thing is that auto guys like to have their egos stroked. You'll have to play the game a bit but it'll pay off. Whatever you do online will follow you, so think of it as a way to build your reputation. Taking that a step further, many of these forums have clubs that you could offer to assist them with publications. Just like anything else, you'll most likely have to start out doing things for free. That's OK. It gets your name out there and gives you something to put on your resume. No one who looks at that resume needs to know whether you got paid or not. I think that's enough for now.

I love a big monitor, until a huge harry arm shows up and fills it! Got to get me a nice Rollie next year with a NATO on it, somehow I just don't feel right not having one anymore....

I want to know where to get this rep! edit: DUH! Maybe I should have looked at the "watermark" on the photo. The rep idea that really caught my attention was the CF bezel. I'm assuming this is a gen and there's no rep out yet...

New DSSD.. how to get the clasp to stay closed?
ThinkBachs replied to mrshagz's topic in The Rolex Area
I know exactly what's wrong with your clasp, and it's a very very easy fix... very easy. very very very easy. Ooops, did you forget to mention that even after the very obvious caveat emptor statement from D4M, you still threatened to file a claim against the payment? Not cool. I doubt that anyone who reads that will sell to you now, I know I wouldn't.
