  1. Doing the research on the gen just killed it for me.
  2. Talk to JMB, people are very pleased with his non-marring hand pressers...
  3. So, I'm thinking to myself when I first saw this 'Ehhh, I've seen this before....' then I looked again and thought 'Whoooooooa! What the heck????' Very cool, thanks for sharing this.
  4. If you're looking for a great movie that falls along this vein, The Eagle was really good IMHO...
  5. Or just switch to another watch on those days...
  6. I'd pass on the one she sourced. Yikes. I have to give Mary credit for the work she does- and she does a lot of work, especially compared to many other dealers.
  7. I'd contact Pbdad on Rep Geek, he's pretty handy!
  8. Have to give her a lot of credit though, she didn't give up and kept them in the race!
  9. Very nice. The Rolex logo looks like someone smooshed it compared to the version they have nowadays. You're lucky, these just don't look right on my big wrist, I miss out on some of the really nice watches...
  10. First, I love the watch. Gotta get one, even if it means looking around for something to sell to help pay for it. I do have a question though. It seems to me that the inner bezel has been trimmed, removing too much material. It looks like there's enough room to have left the inner bezel making for less gap around the crystal and not cutting into the bezel markings. I'm not saying that it was trimmed, just that it seems like it. Of the images I've researched, it just looks off a little to me.
  11. With a model like this around, I can't understand why you can find a Hydronaut but not this! Blech!
  12. That 10 doesn't look right to me, an the dial markers are too fat. I'd pass....
  13. This is definitely a must have! A little nervous about getting one though, I'm afraid it's going to hurt the feelings of my DSSD.
  14. You could take a photo of her with a pin-hole camera and it would look great!
  15. Very interesting! Do the crystal, DW mod an you're all set.
  16. I see a consensus here. Personally, I never saw the need to go with something that was tweaked when good solid engines were available. I have both ETA and clone and both work just fine for me. I have yet to take my watch off and show someone what the movement looks like.
  17. Sounds a little ridiculous for a link. One thing that I've come to terms with when purchasing a watch is that I'll probably have trouble with it fitting properly. If I need a link, I look online, post a thread asking if anyone has an extra one... With all the skinny arms I see, there's usually an extra link available for just about EVERY watch that can give one up. I suppose I could have read more about hank doing that but I lost interest after I realized that the issue was such a silly one.
  18. I'm not sure where to look, but there have been some great threads on aging things like the dial and bezel. Ovens and tea or coffee seem to come to mind.
  19. I have to go against the grain here and ask why people feel they have to beat the hell out of a watch to make it look "vintage." So many have an idea what a vintage should look like but seldom do the research necessary to accomplish the goal. The art of doing this is in the details and not in the brutality...
  20. To those thinking of removing their insert, never pry, always turn it working back and forth to loosen it enough to spin freely- then lift it out. As far as the pearl goes, I'd ditch it. Cousins has a replacement pearl that is perfect except for the color. I'd then have that relumed to the right shade. I wouldn't bother having the pearl that comes with the rep relumed, it's a waste of time because it won't look right no matter who does it... IMHO.
