Same digital caliper here! Have you thought about doing a date wheel mod with the thin metal ring to raise the date wheel closer to the window?

316L Really? Update #3.5 Gen Rolex Case

He's updating the very first post, so you can find everything in one place Vs searching through the thread. -
I almost had a heart attack thinking this was the SD I ordered a little while ago that was finally coming out. This looks great, how about shot of the CG's?

just got this about 2 days ago..

I'm luvin it. Looks weird to see it worn so high on the arm though, be cool and wear it lower, near the wrist! From what I can see, those bezel screws look excellent! -
Eurotimez "Ultimate Upgrade" DSSD has arrived
ThinkBachs replied to panerai153's topic in The Rolex Area
I'm glad to hear that the end link issue was an easy fix! Having given it a little more thought, I'm wondering if it would be possible just to order an HEV and have the current one replaced? If it's a good one, then there probably isn't any need to water proof it, though I would since it would give me peace of mind and I'll never need to use it at 30m. As far as the 6 marker goes, I'm thinking that I read a thread some place where these can be drilled a little from behind and re-glued into the correct position. As far as the ring lock goes, taking the watch apart and turning it slightly could put it into a much better position. It's hard to tell, but that might also be a good time to fill in the engraving with engine black enamel spray paint (nice an thin) and sand it down with 1000, 1500, 2000 sand paper. I'd ask them to send you a replacement bezel insert- the one I see doesn't look that great with the offset pearl. Seems to me they'd rather do that then take the watch back. I agree that no rep will be perfect, but the process of getting it there is what makes this a great hobby! -

I really hate to be the one to post this, but I feel it wouldn't be fair not to bring these things to your attention. Whew, here goes. In my opinion, the watch is a wreck. The end link above the 12 looks mis-aligned, and not flush with the case as it should be. The HEV is wrong on the watch, and the ring lock is not only in the wrong position, but even if it were adjusted so the the O is right of the 10 marker with the E right of the 12 marker, but doing so would throw off the K way far left of the 6. You've pointed out the 6 marker, but besides that I like the dial on this, even the DW. It gives me absolutely no pleasure pointing these things out, and the only consolation might be that you didn't spend very much on this. If you did, I would return it for a better version. My only intention is to make sure you get your money's worth, and I hope I've helped and not offended... -
How cool would it be to be able to say that you'd have no problem stopping him during a fight? (as a referee) I'd love to see Bruce Lee kick his ass! Why doesn't Chuck Norris wear a watch? Because he waits for Bruce Lee to tell him what time it is!

I agree that the GlideLock system is very nice to have- on any watch. A little tricky at first to figure out how to work it if you're unfamiliar, but something fun to play with once you're past that. -
Medium starch on the collar, cuffs and button strip, then wrinkle releaser on the body and sleeves.

Looking to order a DSSD from EuroTimez? Look here first...
ThinkBachs replied to ThinkBachs's topic in The Rolex Area
That was one of the threads that I thought about when I was doing this. I'm not endorsing or trying to slam ETZ, I just wanted to point out the feature they had and how much of a variation there was in the ring lock engravings overall. I couldn't say if this is indicative of ETZ or a general issue for all sources. I think with the luck people have in general getting a watch that works, I'd be happier to get one that might need a movement replaced than one that didn't look right- kind of a lessor of two evils thing. For $400 though, I'd expect better quality control overall. Since there are no prices of information associated with these samples, there's no telling which one is $400 and which one might be in the $100 range... -
Someone had a DSSD for sale that they recently purchased from EuroTimez. He didn't have a photo available but did state that we could find photos of it on EuroTimez' site with the order number to find the exact one. Being curious, I went to take a look. The way to find a watch this way is to start at the home page, wait wait wait for the xml to load, then go down to orders and find the number. The watch looked pretty good. Being curious, I thought I'd take a look at the other orders while I was there. I was surprised to see how many DSSD photos there were. I was even more surprised (though I probably shouldn't have been) to see what a difference there was in the ring lock positions and some of the dates. Here's a small sampling of what I saw... Let's start with a gen version for comparison: Now, EuroTimez: The date is kinda goofy on this one... Yikes, look how far counter clockwise the E is on this one... This looks really good- O right of 10, E right of 12, and K right of 6... O and the E are good, but the K is way off... O is way off, E fair, and K looks good... O and E are good, K is way off... Shifting this ring will help, but the end result will throw the K off... One thing that concerns me about these ring locks is that they all seem to look as though they need to be removed and filled with black enamel then polished down to get that nice solid look that the gen has. It could just be the lighting, and may not be noticeable at normal size. To be fair, there were some that looked really good to me, like this one below- who ever got this one got a VERY nice version! This is a great service that EuroTimez provides it's customers and I highly recommend that you take advantage of it before having the watch shipped to you. Hope this helps someone out there!

New DSSD Version ~ Perfect Clones
ThinkBachs replied to lanikai's topic in The Two R's Watch Reviews - Lani & Ubi
The more I read about Joshua's competition for a similar version and all the issues people are having with them, the more inclined I am to purchase this from Perfect Clones. OK. After a great deal of consideration, this is the one I'm going to go with. I love the dial and the 316F has sold me! Thanks to Lanikai for the incredible amount of time he spent reviewing this and the work he's put into a thorough comparison of the 3 stainless steels. -Andrew, "Koolaid Drinker." -
I saw this piece, anyone that orders it will be very impressed with the quality, definitely worth spending a little more for something that needs nothing else to be on the money...

I have to agree that it is not a tell. If it were a gen and I didn't like the lume, I'd do the same thing. To me, watches are like cars, and I can't think of a single car that I've owned that I haven't customized it somehow whether it be custom wheels, engine tweaks, spoilers, scoops, interior upgrades, or even tinted windows. If you like it, it makes you happy, and improves the overall performance of the watch, it really doesn't matter what other people think since you're the one wearing it. If changing the look of a watch were a bad thing, I guess many of those custom watch band guys would be out of business. And so would these guys...

My post can be removed, but my opinions and convictions stand firm. I will always look to provide an objective opinion when I see posts or threads that may lead individuals to make a mistake. I've been obsessing over finding the best DSSD for longer than probably anyone here. Hours of comparing reps to the genuine article have given me a great deal of insight about the subtleties in the differences between the past failings of dealers and mfrs who have presented us with 1:1, ultimate, ultimate ultimate.... Lanikai is the kind of guy you just want to give a great big hug, and I have a great deal of respect for him. That doesn't mean that I won't feel a sense of obligation to help those that exclaim "fantastic" or "great watch!" when there may be else worth considering that has appreciable benefits over the subject of adoration. Pointing out that a dealer has had an issue with customers in the past elsewhere is not a bad thing- unless you are that dealer. If I'm wrong, I'm glad to know it. It means that I've learned something today. If I've helped someone to achieve or acquire something better, I accept being censored and unsupported as part of the process. I value all opinions, and strive to utilize them to make mine better. The one thing that I do not accept is a closed mind. Reviews are opinions with in-depth supporting evidence. In my mind, challenging that evidence when valid contradictory facts exist is an important part of ensuring that there is some balance. It's not an attempt to discredit the individual, but an effort to be of service to the community. So, when posts are removed or edited you can either shout HURRAY! and close your eyes to opposing opinion and or facts provided by others, or you can appreciate that someone out there has the best intentions to ensure that you are aware of information not presented.
