Trusty sells the noob w/ an eta movt for $200+. Don't buy the $78 one and expect to change to an eta- it'll cost you more in the long run.

Beautiful watch Bert. And a 6538 takes a T-17 doesn't it? Those are almost impossible to find these days and very pricey if you should happen upon one- $200-300 easily. I love what you've done- now you just have to gently age it. Enjoy!

Those 'm's' look OK to me. There are 3 tick dials and 5 tick dials- maybe originally the LV came out with the Swiss Made between 3 ticks and then a few years ago it changed to 5 ticks. That dial looks OK to me, rehaut is good, can't tell with the crystal height above the bezel insert from the pic and can't see the cg's. Latest bezel insert with the triangular 4 in 40. Pearl looks a tad small, but who can say.

http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=40683 Here's Jay and Angel's post from last fall when they came out with the latest run of Bond subs. These aren't perfect, but they'll do. Few people really know what a vintage looks like, so it's easy to pull off.

Looking for a modder in New England looking to make some quick $$$
alligoat replied to seadweller3's topic in The Rolex Area
You could try bklm1234, he has the bkmariner which is a nicely modded noobmariner and has done stuff w/ the new SSD. You can find him here or over at RWI. Another possibility is Vaccum- also over at RWI. I don't know what he's up to these days- maybe he's real busy. For what you'd pay someone, you could buy the tools and do it yourself. Rolex caseback opener- $40, set of screwdrivers- $10-30, files, wet dry sandpaper, polish, maybe $20. Gio's got a tutorial at the top of this section. Your biggest risk is pulling the stem/crown w/o boogering up the keyless works. Been there, done that! It can take 15-30 minutes to mod the cg's. Filing the back of the bezel insert and installing a better pearl isn't that tough either- you just have to take your time and be careful. -
Submariner - Issue with the Crystal and Bezel alignment
alligoat replied to adctroj's topic in The Rolex Area
Isn't it great to find an easy fix? Otherwise, you would have been looking at removing the crystal and resetting it. It ain't that hard but you need a crystal press and maybe a few other tools. -
A Genuine 1665 on the bay from a zero seller?
alligoat replied to alligoat's topic in The Rolex Area
I've seen the cut-outs on early bracelet end pieces- Nanuq has some on one of his watches (6536?). These are the early flimsy pre 93150 type of bracelets. And as Nanuq or was it you, Freddy, who said they've never seen a fake folded link bracelet? -
Judging by the time of day on your signature, it would look like you're in the EU. What about Narika? Narika runs from China to Thailand and Britain, giving him access to the MBK products also. Getting a hold of TTK isn't easy. It's like having the planets and moon all perfectly aligned and if he's in a good mood. It helps if he recognizes you from this forum, but even that may not be enough. And delivery can be slow. What about Silix- Jay and Angel sell bracelets alone for a reasonable price and they offer good service. Just be specific about what you want.

A Genuine 1665 on the bay from a zero seller?
alligoat replied to alligoat's topic in The Rolex Area
285 end links on a 9315? One of my bracelet charts says 285/9315! It would be interesting to contact Mark Greenberg and see if this deal goes thru. The pics look good.... -
Rolex Oyster Bracelets from 2005-6 Master Catalog
alligoat replied to freddy333's topic in The Rolex Area
Cool! Too bad there isn't a price list to go with it! I was thinking about getting a new 93150 w/ 580 end links for my gen 1680, but when Rep said $975 for a new one I said forget it. And with the dollar sinking out of site, these prices will just keep going up! -

No doubt moelarrycu is legitmate. And if he can get the watch and it's real, I guess it's a pretty good deal. I know I'd be on a plane to Dallas top pick it up. There was a DRSD on ebay last year that went for $24K. This one has the potential to be worth more if it's not a scam, but the guys on VRF certainly thought it was a scam. -

Real pics, but no real watch! I guess like Rep says- you'd have to be there in person- it's the only way. -

Actually, I'm thinking the end links are OK- for an earlier 9315 bracelet- with the folded links. Just can't read what they say- 280, 380 or 580/585 would all be ok, I guess. -

Garland is a suburb of Dallas- 4 hrs from H town by car- 45 minutes in a jet. At frst I looked at the end links, but when I saw the folded link bracelet, I said OK, that's fine. This baby could go pretty high in spite of the seller -
Newest Sea Dweller from Sead--slightly better than my last.
alligoat replied to gioarmani's topic in The Rolex Area
Did you trim the cg's, Gio, or did they come that way? The bezel looks good (better). -
I just ran across this watch on the bay http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Sea-dweller_W0QQ...1QQcmdZViewItem item # 220205707980 if the link doesn't work, It looked ok to me, I liked the dial, the clasp, case profile.... but damn, a zero seller!

I would love to find the correct 93150 hollow mid-link band with the correct 580 end pieces- esp in a rep band. Most of the rep 580 end pieces have the little notch cut-out on each end of the backside. Paul has some nice hollow mid-link bands, but not necessarily 93150's.

Looks to me like you need to get on the internet and order something freddy!

What do you make of this Milgauss? Real or Rolex?

HCMC- is that Ho Chi Minh City? -

I am of the opinion that the case is real. When you buy a Phong 6541 case, you get the crystal, bezel, crown and tube. Of course, his pic also shows the magnetic flux cover in it. Why would you need a new crystal if you already had one, and where's the bezel? Might as well get it all put back together at one time. Just my thoughts... -

Interesting, I just went to Jewelry and Watch and Phong is building te 6541 Milgauss! http://www.jewelryandwatch.com/index1.html Send him a 1030 thru 1080 movement and he'll do the rest for $5500! Don't know if he has the magnetic flux cover though. But since the movement was frozen, Zig, I can't figure this as a franken, except the dial. And the bezel could be procured from Michael Young or Phong, for that matter it should be the same as a 5508 bezel, since they both take the same crystal. 5508 dates from 1958 but had a 1530 movement which had just come out at that point. -

Movement looks fine- 1030-M for Milgauss, nice caseback of IV 1958. And yes, that watch takes a T-16 which are scarcer than hens teeth these days. The dial looks to be pristine- is it original? Other than that, I guess all you need is a bezel. A very nice watch from what I see. -
It looks like the 'Date' was added to the 16750 dial later on in the 80's- so a 1675 would not have had it on the dial.

Bernard Watch takes some nice pictures. And I do find myself going to their site from time to time to look at the pics- a good reference for gen watches.
