  1. You have an MBW which should have a decent datewheel. Why do you want to substitute a datewheel that is no better? The only datewheel better than a MBW datewheel is a Watchmeisters datewheel- if you could find one.
  2. Very nice pictorial, Gio. The rep SD is looking very good IMO. Sometimes it's hard to tell which is rep and which is gen.
  3. If the Sea-Dweller case is smaller than the Submariner case- especially the inner rehaut ring- it might work. A gen Sub dial is going to be in the 27.4mm range. A typical rep sub dial is 28 plus mms. A TW Best will accept a gen dial (and maybe a MBW). Can't tell you about the rep SD.
  4. Sounds like a variation of the eta 2671 which is used in alot of ladies watches and some of the smaller mens/unisex watches. A 2836-2 will fit in a DJ case, maybe you have a 2688 because of the impending shortage of eta movements.
  5. Is the Poljot 3133 a copy of the Valjoux 7733- it looks very similar to me?
  6. Well I finally got a chance to do a little googling on the 7760. I had thought that the 7765 was the manual wind variation of the of the 7750, which it is, but it's typically in the bi-compax version. The 7760 is the tri-compax version, manual wind, of the 7750. Came out in the 80's w/ 17 jewels like the 7750 did originally. You see this movement in Sinn and Hanhart watches- flieger (pilot) type watches. This movement can be either a 3-6-9 configuration, or the 6-9-12 like the modern V7750. Beat rate is 28800 (in the Swiss) so it'll be interesting to see what the asian has. We've seen improvements in the asian 7750 in the last couple of years and this 7760 is just one more addition to the ever changing asian watch scene. I think it's an exciting development and look forward to seeing more of it. Of course, for the true Daytona (and pre-Daytona) aficionados, nothing will ever replace the V72.
  7. Go to ebay and buy the cheapest bezel insert you can find (with a metal ring), pop out the pearl and glue it into your Sandoz. Ofrei sells illumines dots for $10 but these fit the early subs- like vintage 1680. 1665, 5513.
  8. I think there is a market at $800, but I'd rather see it at $600, because w/ an asian 7760, you're still ultimately looking at having to service it at some point and that's another couple hundred dollars (which will probably be going up soon since the US dollar is getting so beat up). Another consideration is changing out the crown and tube to gen since it's manual wind- how long would a rep crown and tube hold up to that kind of constant use? Nevertheless, it's an interesting development. I also noted that Josh has come out with a 37mm 6263 w/ a Lemania whatever movement and the hand on the 12 hour subdial fixed. I would assume it has symmetrical pushers, but at least the case size is closer to original.
  9. I've bought a couple of used gens on ebay, but you got to know the seller. On Timezone, the good deals go fast! And I agree w/ Jet on Alan Furman having good prices on new- I've just never bought a new Rolex!
  10. I agree that the guy is not a scammer, and he may get it by ebay. Luckily, we pay a whole lot less for our reps!
  11. A TW Best case with a gen dial, etc, etc, No big deal. The guy has tried to cover his bases, but it is still copyright infringement. Rolex or GAF Counsel would stop it if they catch wind.
  12. Doc's right about this being a crap shoot. Trusty's case in not to gen specs like an MBW/WM case. But a crystal from wholesale outlet is as good a place as any to start experimenting. It seems like I recall reading about someone putting a T-127 crystal on a Trusty 1680 a year or two ago. Good luck.
  13. My original TTK noobmariner died 4-5 months ago in the hands of my dearly beloved nephew. But my watchmaker fixed it for $40 and it's been fine ever since. Now getting a watchmaker to work on an asian 21j movement can be a trick- some don't want to do it- but it's worth a try.
  14. No, an ETA 2824 won't fit. Original noobs come w/ a 21j asian movement. ETA noobs come w/ a 2836. Maybe a watchmaker could service it for you and fix it, or you have to buy a whole nother watch- which might be the cheapest way to go in the long run.
  15. With all of the replacement inserts around, it stands to reason that the pearls fall out of the gens just as much. And after paying $125 or more to get the insert replaced at Rolex, a $25 fix would start to look good after a time or two. I'd try the illumunes dots from ofrei for $10, like freddy says, but I'd use a drop of GS Hypo-cement at least. I got the supposedly vintage, NOS acrylic pearls from watchesandparts over in Hong Kong for around $40 to $50 for a pair and was very happy w/ those- snapped into my two inserts perfectly. A big improvement
  16. FWIW, I thought I read that a 7765 was a 7750 w/o the rotor.
  17. I'd go w/ both reps. The crown on the diamond DD is wrong- single dot??? Date cyclops on gold DD looks crooked.
  18. It's a zinger no doubt. Case tube, yikes- have to be a rep crown to fit that POS. Movement # is late, which is OK, but the case SN is totally bogus- Rolex didn't go to 10 million and 1.5 million is 1965-66- oops! Pearl is outrageous- MBW? or cheap rep. Lug holes, case profile, and HE valve all suck. And I'm not too sure about the datewheel on the 1575 movt- it's sucky too. Why would someone go to the trouble to put a 1575 movt in such a bad case? What a sloppy job.
  19. Wow! that's quite a list, pitimany! Here's a few others: Heuer (Autavia & Leonidas) Abercrombie & Fitch Tradition (Sears) Wyler Desotos Zenith Delbana Wyler Most of these are from V72 watches, but the V23 is like the 72's little brother- same base movement.
  20. Current Rolex parts, 24-703-0, crown and 24-7030-0 tube are what Rolex would use in servicing a 1665- if they would service it- some RSC's have quit servicing the vintage watches. Originally, a gen GW 1665 probably would have had the 24-702-0 crown and 24-7020-0 tube. The tube would not have had the the exterior o-ring. Finding the 24-7020-0 tubes is tough these days- the crowns are still around from people like Mark Greenberg in NY. Stick with the 24-703 assembly. BTW, a 24-703 crown will not fit on a 24-7020 tube- trust me, I watched my watchmaker try.
  21. Like armin says, there's eta copies w/o the stampings. But we are getting to the point where the are also eta copies w/ the eta stampings. There's really nothing you can do about it. FWIW, my eta copy in my River noobmariner is keeping great time. And don't forget- even a genuine surplus eta movement probably still needs to be serviced. That accounts for all of the eta movements in all of our reps- unless you buy one of the serviced eta's from someone like Andrew or whoever.
  22. I would figure that this is a genuine bezel insert. But it will NOT fit a 16610. It is NOS, so the pearl not glowing does not surprise me- it could easily date from the early 80's- like 81 or 82. I don't know what the 81 means- could it be 1981? Anyway, the seller is reputable- I've bought from him before. It's for a Sea-Dweller like the description says.
  23. $530 for a 1530 isn't a bad price, but you always have to add in the cost of a service, say $200, and parts above that if required. S&H brings you to around $750- about par for the course. 1575's run in the $900-1000 and once again, add in the service. If you want a date movement, buy a date movt- don't think you can convert unless you're a watchmaker w/ a stash of parts, because it's not cost efffective.
  24. Yep, I agree w/ Pug- Rolex makes changes, sometimes very small ones, w/o explanation (of course, they never explain!), but we see them from time to time- like the bezel font of the 4 in 40. a few years ago it was more boxy and then a couple of years ago, they switched to a triangular 4- new bezel insert! They might have done it w/ the LV insert also- just don't remember. But about a year ago we noticed the 3 ticks vs 5 tick dials.
