  1. Re-reading the original post, if you want something with wrist presence, you can probably pick up a Girard-Perregeaux Seahawk 2 in titanium with power reserve. That's unlikely to get repped properly anytime soon. There are decent prices on used ones I think. here's a review: www.thewatchquote.com/Girard-Perregaux-Sea-Hawk-II-Pro-No_4225.htm According to this site, it's 4,444 Euros (but you can probably find good condition ones at cheaper prices used): www.sunnywatches.com/watches/girard-perregaux/sea-hawk-ii-49905-11-651-hdba.html?utm_campaign=Google There are great pics on an old TZ sales thread: forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=4248032&rid=0 History of the SeaHawk: quicklook.watchprosite.com/show-nblog.post/ti-351642/ It's 44mm and definitely looks like it has wrist presence
  2. Great work If you could colour-match the PVD coating of the PAM028, I'm sure a lot of people would prefer this more durable DLC coating as long as it "looks" the same, especially as the only good source we had (Rolli) is not happening for the time being.
  3. Is that in SS? I thought the genuines were only made in titanium? The old factory that made the good titanium versions don't seem to make them anymore for the past few years.
  4. If they are going to discontinue the inner bezel Aquatimers, pick up one of them and the older 2000m titanium ones too Otherwise, if you can stretch to an AP ROO, I'd go for that. If you want to get a whole bunch of watches rather than just one, I'd also throw in a Sinn U2 and a Doxa
  5. I'm not really a fan of this version. It looks like any bog-standard chrono with echoes of the older Aquatimer. The bezel kinda looks like it needs to be pressed to turn like those 2000m ones (look at Ubi's review for pics, but the rep doesn't do that either). The recent Aquatimers with the inner bezel had a character and beauty of their own... I hope they continue that line alongside these ones.
  6. No one questions me at work... I'm wearing a France football (soccer) jersey (2002 double layer edition ), Adidas sweats and a RB2... and yeah I work in finance I should also say I have a crutch. Ok, I should say one of the consultants asked me if it's one of the expensive limited editions.
  7. I never bought them for collecting though, it was bought to wear but I got so many I never bothered wearing many of them... only a handful. Where did you get the reps? Do they wear as good as the real thing? Maybe once I get rid of these ones I can get one or 2 reps to actually wear. Does the Underworld one have the proper reflective properties and the soles as well?
  8. Hi, this is slightly off topic, but it's to do with collecting, so I'm hoping RWG'ers can shed some light. I'm moving house in a week or two and a guy working on the current house is offering to buy my shoes. I have loads of Adidas, a lot from 35th Anniversary Superstar collection. Are these worth anything? I also have Y-3s bought from the bay. Most are in original boxes and unworn. I went on a hoarding/buying spree and never wore most of them! I was going to keep the Underworld/Tomato one and wear it myself, and then did a look up on the bay and find that it's sold for 300gbp... well I'm not sure if I should wear it now! Anyway, any advice is welcome...
  9. No one's mentioned one of my favourites, the Omega Seamaster GMT... it's a lovely watch (sorry no pics, I'm still at work ). Also the FM Vegas in white dial is nice as are the Conquistadors and Casablancas By-Tor: that Ebel really is as lovely as you say! And i agree the white dial SS Daytona is the best of the modern Daytonas Does the Yachtmaster count with it's "light" dial?
  10. He's got a good reputation... good choice If you manage to get through to him on email, let me know, cos I couldn't!
  11. wait for some great pictorials by Lani of the latest version before picking one out!
  12. Interesting questions. The 2892 is a thinner and more refined movement. It can also be used in a modular way, such as attaching chrono modules (the AP ROO movement in the genuine uses a similar modular system with a JLC base movement and a Dubois Dupraz chrono module, which also fits on a 2892) and power reserve modules (see PAM 027, 028). To answer your question, I would think you could fit the 2892 in a 2824 case, but I have no idea about hand sizes. Replacing a 2892 with a 2824 will depend on the case thickness. I wonder if things like datewheels are interchangeable ?
  13. Well... none of the Big Bangs are accurate apart from the Tuiga, so you could just enjoy it ... get the simple things fixed if they biother you, like the date wheel. There are so many variations of the HBB that it doesn't really matter. The movement will always get called out (by an expert) whatever you do.
  14. Utterly classless and disgusting watch .. what an eyesore
  15. And then look for some fora to boast about the AD not spotting a rep, and promptly getting banned
  16. I'd love to see a lume surround instead of the metal surrounds around the numbers... now that would be something. And different
  17. Look up The Zigmeister's posts and he'll probably have it documented in his section. My (non-watchsmith) guess would be that the spring is kaput and isn't returning the pushers back to it's original position.
  18. Ask one of the recommended watchsmiths/modders like The Zigmeister or Vacuum, I'm sure it's an easy fix for them. The Zigmeister usually helps people with advice, if he doesn't already have a post in his section.
  19. Personally I prefer the internal bezel, that differentiates it from most brands. It makes it harder to mistakenly knock the bezel into another location when diving (yeah, like it matters to most people on here ). I'm not sure which brand it was that allows you to use the chrono pushers underwater. It may have been the Omega Seamaster Chrono, or this one, but I'm not 100% sure right now.
  20. It's a beautiful watch, and rare enough (not just the dial colour) that most will never have even seen it, but it's just so lovely
  21. Agreed, i hardly go over there as I can't be bothered to learn how to navigate it! There's more than enough over there
