  1. Me too! I'm just not sure on this particular watch. Maybe, in the fullness of time, I will Perhaps a Zidane would be nice, and much more worthwhile with the genuine movement swap as it's a limited edition (I think), but as it's a closed caseback, you can get away with ETA Do you have the Ingy 7 days power reserve movements (51113)? If they made a good version of that, that would be a great one "to franken".
  2. Getting to Room 101 (if you know that show). Really have to do this work, I want to leave by 9pm tonight!
  3. Good idea Too bad for those of us who already have the reps
  4. Takashi has a genuine movement in his AMG and said it was fine, just that the hands may need modification. He has genuine hands on his ones which are of the same size as for an ETA 7750 movement. Bricciola can fix the hands when fitting them to the genuine movement, I believe.
  5. If you're in EU, you could get one from Precious Time... he may cost a little more, but he QCs it and sends it out from within the EU. I'm not sure about Norway as it's outside the EU but I think there is some sort of free trade agreement? There are a lot of Norwegian members who will hopefully chime in. Precious Time also guarantees the watch for 2 months, I believe. You can also get it serviced by a watchsmith like member Bricciola (in EU assuming that is ok for you customs-wise), who knows how to handle these movements and lubricate them properly. It may be an idea to get that done early on, unless you plan on a movement swap. Concepta has them for sale in the Trading Zone section of this forum, under Tools & Parts. Bricciola can also do that movement swap for you. I believe Bricciola is not taking any work until August as he will be off on holiday soon. Obviously, the most reliable movement in your watch will be the genuine one. If you want the non-chrono, the ETA movement should be fine. I've had my AMG since it first came out, and it's still running fine. Someone like Eurotimez verifies that it is ETA (there are Asian copy movements too) and can ship from within EU. Precious Time can probably check it's authentic ETA as well - just ask him. Hope that helps!
  6. I'm not 100% sure, but RWG modder Vacuum may be able to help? Check his section. The Zigmeister is in Canada and can definitely help.
  7. Personally, I prefer the AMG versions. I still have the steel one in the box from EL from way back when it first came out, still in the plastic untouched! Perhaps one of these days Anyway, the chrono version may be ok if you get it serviced... if you are into modding, you could get a genuine movement from Concepta.
  8. Remember I had that titanium one from King with the wrong pearl (still haven't got the money back but that's another story ) ? Perhaps she still has them, or I could ask for mine back? That bezel may fit... worth a shot if you don't mind the pearl or can somehow transplant the one from here, and can overlook the wrong 4 font. I guess it depends if you want titanium or the correct font/pearl on the bezel. Also, check if the Seawolf bezel fits... it will be cheaper to switch out from that one if it does.
  9. I have one with ETA movement as well, it's such a lovely watch And proof that reps lead to gens

  11. Personally, I don't see a problem with DLC not scratching as easily as a PVD watch... I don't want it getting scratched! And it just looks like you take more care of your watch as well I guess an expert like Rolli or kruzer could tell how accurate it is, and I have one of the out-of-production PAM028s, specifically bought back then in SS to eventually get the correct PVD (or DLC if it's the same of course!). I've never worn the watch and it's still in EL's box with pillow I can't wear it until the PVD/DLC is done
  12. A (Swedish) programmer I know is a big fan of Linux.. he despises Windows! He's part of the reason I want to try out Linux and see how it is. It's supposed to run faster than Windows at least, but that's not saying much ? You're right about budgets... I'm not getting any Macs anytime soon jut because it's so expensive, as well as for gaming... I am not a big fan of console gaming in terms of first person shooters, I still prefer keyboard and mouse for that. Some games are great on consoles and others are great on PCs (the aforemention FPS's, real time strategy games, Football Manager for example). Consoles are great for sports games and suchlike... shows how far behind I am, I bought a PS2 at the start of last year I guess variety and choice is great. Here's hoping Google is successful in making a great OS, and hope MS put in some real effort... we always complain about QC with our reps, what about MS taking the mickey?
  13. If you mean the genuine current models, white dial every time
  14. Good to see you around! Would you recommend using FreeBSD over Linux and Mac OSX ?
  15. Happy Birthday! Have a great one
  16. I've never gotten into cricket... it's on a par with baseball to me, but even longer! Whenever I played, I'm happy to bat, but I don't care for bowling or fielding. The same for baseball/softball, I'm happy to bat and pitching isn't so bad, but fielding is boring, but then I play sports like football (soccer), basketball, golf (badly), tennis and squash. Anyway, enjoy it !
  17. I should have mentioned in the first post that I think it's great to have some high-profile competition. Hopefully this gives Mickeysoft the kick up the ar*e that they've been needing to produce something worthwhile rather than bloatware like Vista. I'm not going to upgrade OS or get a new computer until at least the new Windows is out later this year. I'm thinking of dual-booting one of my computers with Linux to see how it is. I've heard good things about the current Ubuntu build.. and of course it's free If Google is free as well, it may stand a chance because of their marketing muscle, but progress will be slow. Apple costs too much for the majority to want to try it out. I tend to use Chrome as well, but it wouldn't work on my Win2k machine, so I use a combination of Opera, Firefox and IE on that one... the XP machines use Chrome most of the time Very rare occasions I will put on Firefox or IE (in that order). The article mentions that Google's Chrome OS is aimed more at those who use their machines for web-browsing...
  18. Will Google destroy Mickeysoft? Or will they go the way of the Mac and be a niche and fanboy product? news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8139711.stm
  19. unusual but interesting. is it like the running seconds dial on a DeWitt Academia Chrono?
  20. Koke - if it works and is affordable, I would suggest to start with a small run of say 10 crystals and see how it goes before taking on a second run that may be 15-20 crystals. You don't want to get snowed under with crystals and constant emails from impatient members. Chief seems to be quite organised, so take tips from him. Anyone who wants to use any future service - I would suggest send 1 crystal the first time to see the final results and if you are happy with it.
