You could try within the EU, and ask finepics if he can service/fix chronos. The best bet would be to contact The Zigmeisterzumba and ask him, he's had experience with Asian 7750s and has had experience fixing broken/non-working movements. He's in Canada but you'll have no problems - remove the bracelet and mark the package broken watch sent for repair or something of that ilk.

Thanks, that is the first time I have ever heard it had a misaligned dial. Movement looks spot-on as well. I am leaning towards this 036, and for the sandwich dial, go for either a 127 or 217... depending on which is more accurate. I don't have any lefties and the 217 is rarer ... but I need to figure out which one is more accurate.

I'm thinking of getting a titanium Panerai... the ones that look good to me so far are jos-nana's PAM036 (or maybe even silix's) and Andrew's custom PAM177. I believe both have genuine Swiss ETA 6497. Which one is more accurate? And do any mods need to be done to make them accurate? Gotta get back to work now... edit: (another 13 hour plus day later) I'm also trying to decide between 127 (1950) or a 217 (destro)... the 127s seem expensive, and I would think the 217 is rarer. I am also looking at the 047 - looks good. No pusher on the crown but I can live with that, as that function isn't available on the rep. Any advice is welcome.

Should be no problem then... you'll also get the independently adjustable hour hand feature which will come in useful when you are a household name flying from tournament to tournament.

Make crap models so no one wants to get a rep, and only the true (idiots?) hardcore rich guys will buy them? Daylights aren't too bad. Don't like the black subdial/white subdial combo though. Not yet...

I'm considering the cheaper ones for the more outlandish models... eg. the cola mariner (not that i will get that!). A good cheap option to try it out.

If you want accuracy and movement like the genuine watch, main ones I think are PAM029 and PAM063 (I have both as well as the black dial and the white dial Omega GMTs). Tuxedo (striped) dial on the PAM029 is great and I like the numbers on the bezel. First time I looked at the PAM063, the dial seemed a little too busy. I like the two-tone anniversary GMT Master-II with black bezel, but the movement is not right. With these, the Explorers and the Omega GMTs, the problem for me is that the hour hand is not independently adjustable as they should be. The independently adjustable hand is the GMT hand like in the 2893-2 movement, however I think the movement used in these are modified ETA 2836s. Marrickville - I'm not sure if the genuine Omega GMT hands will fit your rep due to the different movement types used, but let me know if it does. I would be very surprised but good luck!

thomasng is the expert on AP Royal Oaks... also one that I'm going to get sometime. I think the most accurate one around at the moment may be ELs according to some reviews I saw from admin a while back, but check for yourself.

How long did the r*l*x reps last from silix watch (not prime)? I only ask because i got one for a friend.

These PAMs are fine, although I have heard the factory has stopped making it with the 2893 movement. Not sure how accurate this information is. Favourite GMT of all is the white dial Omega Seamaster GMT... but go for the replacement original hands/ dial if you can.

You should be able to pick up a second hand quartz SMP for just a bit more than the price of the average rep ($300 or so). Maybe you could use the case and put in an ETA movement if it fits.

Simple solution. All buyers post the name of the watch they got, the price they paid, and the dealer. That way everyone will know what prices to expect, and in time, dealers will not be able to charge high prices to some and lower prices to others, and may eventually post their asking price. I can understand discounts on getting multiple watches though.

The dealer will send me some screws when he has some available. Is it a good idea to apply loctite to these screws on the outside? as in on the screw head after it has been screwed in, or on the actual screw-in surface, before screwing it in? Should the same be done on the screws that hold the strap to the lugs? and finally, how about on the push-pins/screws in the bracelet, and on other brands' bracelets such as Omega, Breitling, R*l*x etc?

Black dial version is nice as well, but I prefer the white dial.

I would think the reason the genuine GMT and second hands did not fit is due to the different movements used. the ETA 2836-2 is modified to accomodate a GMT hand, and it does not move like a standard GMT hand - jumping from hour to hour. The movement used in many GMT watches is the ETA 2893, which is in the PAM029 and PAM063. This is still not the same GMT movement as the Omega though. The Omega GMT uses a custom made movement which has a jumping hour hand - when you pull out to the 2nd crown position - usually used for the date - you can change only the hour setting. This also requires you to cycle around 24 hours to advance the date. The R*l*x GMT-Master II is also similar. I think some newer R*l*x GMT-Master IIs have an independently adjustable hour hand now. Of the GMT-type watches, I prefer how it is handled in the Omega GMTs rather than the PAMs... I have both. White dial Omega GMT is really nice
