A Pile Of Questions About Omega Po Strap Options
Chronus replied to mezzanine's topic in The Omega Area
Joshua has a great deployant on his omega straps. I think silix may have these deployants as well though. -
I prefer the titanium Chrono Avenger

A Pile Of Questions About Omega Po Strap Options
Chronus replied to mezzanine's topic in The Omega Area
If you want the double-ridged rubber strap you linked, it is $15 here. I have no idea if it is any good though. I think it will still leave a gap as it does not have curved ends. -
By-Tor , get an extra band that's sized for her, then you just have to change straps, much quicker and easier, and no problems with screws

Recently in a discussion on straps, tourbillon1801 (he of the watch parts, see dealer section) recommended thornton watches genuine alligator straps as the best around... I've contacted them, and their website is here: www.thorntonwatch.com I haven't tried their straps yet, but tourbillon's recommendation piqued my interest. The genuine alligator straps are around $45 and the genuine lizard straps are around $20. They come with SS or gold tone buckle as your choice. If anyone gets any please let me know how good they are and if they are as good as tourbillon says, I'm sure he's right. They emailed saying there is 20% off and free shipping and handling. Here is a copy of the email: https://www.thorntonwatch.com/ -- New items & 20 percent off everything ends Friday New bands & buckles are in and it's time to stock up or make friends by telling them about this great offer! COUPON CODE: utake20off = 20% off everything & zero shipping through tomorrow (Friay, Oct. 27 at 12 midnight EST). Just enter the following code when checking out or email for an paypal invoice for all you need: utake20off OFFER IS ONLY GOOD ON NEW ORDERS PLACED AT WWW.THORNTONWATCH.COM. Sadly I've never been able to access RWI, always comes up with an internet page error Can anyone repost it here, or copy over the pictures and comments? -
This one seems to me one of the cheapest and best "out-of-the-box" watches and requires little in the way of mods

Chanel J12 Eta 28xx (white Or Black) Ceramic 38mm
Chronus replied to Chronus's topic in General Discussion
I'm trying (and the price is helping!) but I'm intrigued by the material for one. Also the look. Definitely different, and I like different - especially the white one. At least it isn't a diamond-encrusted one ... there are those reps too but not for me. I had my fill of "diamonds" with the MBW R*l*x Two Tone Sub Serti. I don't know I 'll keep thinking about it. Maybe I should go to a shop and see the real thing... maybe it's not as good in person... or will this be one of my infamous chase-the-rep-and-get-it then wear it a couple of times and put it away ? If nothing else I'll wear it clubbing -
If you want to talk about best value and rep accuracy, currently it has to be Joshua and Andrew's Cartier Pasha Seatimer (black dial). The date wheel is corrected to white numerals on black background (at least Joshua's one), so the only real problem could be that the 2 6 and 9 don't curl in enough, but I doubt many will even notice this. Also, it may need a relume but only the hands. I don't know if it has AR ... but can you argue with an ETA 2824-2 movement in, what looks at the moment to be, an almost perfect rep? And all for $148 including shipping.

Chanel J12 Eta 28xx (white Or Black) Ceramic 38mm
Chronus replied to Chronus's topic in General Discussion
Great, if you find the link, please post it here, I'm off to eat now. I may put up a bunch of dealer pics and genuine pics later on too. I've saved a lot of them. I'd like to see a comparison of the white J12 with genuine and rep too That one stands out a bit more, a little more unusual. I'll have a black watch once the 028 gets PVD'd -
Chanel J12 Eta 28xx (white Or Black) Ceramic 38mm
Chronus replied to Chronus's topic in General Discussion
You're right, from what I've read, the good stuff won't scratch ... now the rep costs upwards of $500 and Linder's wife's one is scratchless after a year's use, so it's possible that it is good ceramic material ? The genuine uses (so Chanel say) NASA grade ceramic material. From what the rep manufacturers tell the dealers, it sounds like they say they use the same material. As long as it doesnt scratch it should be fine I doubt this is a big seller for any dealers... perhaps another group buy like the IWC ? -
Chanel J12 Eta 28xx (white Or Black) Ceramic 38mm
Chronus replied to Chronus's topic in General Discussion
I talked to finepics about ceramics used in dentistry, and he said it is very very tough and durable. The only thing that is possible is it being chipped, but I've seen reviews of the genuine that says the sapphire crystal has gotten chipped from a fall, and nothing happened to the ceramic. Ceramics are also used in such things as industrial boilers and can take punishment. Also, I think EL described 4 levels of this, so the top level is likely to be the most expensive one. Ask him and find out... hopefully he will see this and enlighten us? -
Hmmmm T SWISS MADE T ... I'm on PAM029 today.

Did you also get it from EL? I'm wondering on how it felt to you, and how does it compare to Joshua's as they look to be 2 different watches. What are the 4 different grades of ceramics available? I would imagine the lowest value rep is asian movement with metal painted the colour of the ceramic? I would imagine the next level is a rep with metal coated ceramics, And then we move onto a higher level ETA movement with true ceramic, perhaps a lower grade of ceramic than the top rep which uses the best available ? This is just speculation of course! -
Great news, post pictures if possible
