  1. Please check pm Chief.

or maybe you can answer on here. how do we go about fixing the scratches? how much is the fix?

It happened with one of mine too.

It's thought to be down to an invisible coating on the outside of the crystal which reacts with the double AR. It makes the coating softer than it should be, hence more lliable to scratching and marks. The only way to cure it is to remove the crystal, go over it with a dremel and some acetone (or methods similar) and re-coat the crystal.

It would be advisable to anyone who has a UPO crystal ready for AR to be aware of this and to make sure they give their cystal a thorough going over to remove all AR/other residue on the crystal.

  2. Not my cup of tea. It's like the new line of AP ROO's....they seem to be detracting from their heritage and designing 'fad fashion' watches.

I suppose if it is polished titanium, the rep factories could get away with using steel, it would just be the weight that is the giveaway. It's certainly a monstrosity when compared to its well designed pre-decessor!

  3. The Zigmeister your skill never ceases to amaze me! It must be so rewarding to set yourself a difficult task like this and have the ability to complete it! With work, your own projects like this, and the boards modding.....do you ever sleep!?

  4. No worries, the period between ordering and receiving a watch can be nerve racking as it is, let alone having to worry about receiving the right version :) I should have mentioned that the reassuring post above was subject to the condition of pictures when it arrives, I love the BCE :)

  5. Dear me, back in my day we never had this problem with V'x' and V'y', it was oh so simple to determine what you were buying/talking about haha

Which dealer did you buy it from, do you have a link? Some of them advertise the watch as having an upgraded datewheel, so you may receive the so called V3. I think the V2 and V3 came from the same factory, in which case I doubt that the V2 is still in production (this is mere speculation on my part)

  6. People with low discretionary income may cease to buy replicas, and instead concentrate their investment on the necessities of life.

However, those who have a larger discretionary income, the likes who own reps and gens, or gens, may invest more. For example. Person 'X' usually buys gens, but their discretionary income is reduced, so they may choose to buy reps in the economic downturn to feed their addiction :p

  7. Seems like they did a good job with that one. Looks really accurate on the dial side anyway. Happy with it? Caseback? Sapphire front and back? Did they do the rotor sort of like a gen GO or no?

Fantastic replication for 118USD. Full review of the watch is linked in my signature, in my opinion it's the best dress watch available for the money.

  8. With the 7750 movements I don't bother having them serviced. If it fails me, then Il just replace the movement for less that what it costs for the price of a service. However, this only works if it fails once, if it fails twice in a 5 years period then it's cheaper to have it serviced. If you are going to keep the watch for longer than 5 years and you really like it, then have it serviced. Once it's serviced it will run very reliably as a Swiss movement would. However, if it isn't one you envisage growing attached to then I wouldn't bother.

A 7753 is a rare item to find these days and if you do find one, you are likely in the neighborhood of $1K in a donor watch....

    you mean swiss ETA7753

Asian 7753's are even rarer, they don't exist :) They're moddified 7750 movements to make them the tri-compax layout.

  9. Well it depends on what the watch is and how many flaws it currently has.

You find in the world of reps that they fix one flaw and mess up another. Can you live with the flaws at the moment, or would you rather risk selling it now, only to find that a different flaw on the new one bugs you more. Or is the version you have really bad and a good replication in the pipeline?

More details are required if we are going to help you with this one.

  10. I could not find the PP 5120 rep anywhere. I tried all the dealers. If you know where I can find one, please let me know.

The 3919 rep is the closest I could come up with, but that rep has a seconds dial at the 6:00

The Longines Altiplano comes the closest but that one (the hands) is way off from the gen.

Robbie buys gens, so don't worry about finding the rep, it probably doesn't exist ;)

  11. Unbelieveable, this guy has started a thread up on Repgeek comlaining about 'us' over there....seems like he wants sympathy rather than to protect us.

To the OP let the admin know who it is so they can their 'job' If you don't let them know other people will be in the same position as you. You feel bad because you've had your watch damaged, so prevent it from happening to someone else!!
