  1. I don't know if you can, but adding a poll to this might aid your quest for a conclusive RWG opinion?

    My vote goes to the VC it's clean and simple. I don't like the bezel on that PP, looks too fussy....it seems to detract my attention form the watch as a whole.

  2. I've just had a look at the new Cermaic sub. I think because the Sea Dweller and Submariner case design hasn't changed much over the years, with its changes this latest one looks more like a homage watch than a true Submariner. I think I would have more difficulty in choosing if the choice was between the GO Sport and the Sub 16610.

    There is unlikely to be a good rep of a GO Sport in the foreseeable future, whereas with the new WM9 releases, I think the new Sub might be replicated very soon to a good standard. Robbie....just imagine that GO sitting next to your UN MMD and the GMT Big Date :wub:

    My choice would be;

    Gen GO Sport Evo (black datewheels)

    Rep WM9 16610 / V3 DSD / wait for a rep of the ceramic Sub

    Also, I think you should listen to your own advice, and Im sure you have thought this through a lot...... It's much cheaper to make a mistake in the rep world than it is in the gen world. I would take many a trip to the AD and make the salesman there do his job, and also see if you come back each time with the GO or the Rolex at the forefront of your mind. If you become attached to one then buy it, if you don't, buy it and send it to me ;)

  3. Of the two I would go for the GO. I love this brand, you get so much quality for your money, and pictures never show their true quality. I agree an AR coating would really finish this watch off, but I guess because it's a sports watch, they didn't use it for practicality reasons....similar to Rolex. Maybe the crystal could do with a trip to Chief to add a unique AR to the watch?

    You may have seen this, but there is quite a good comparison between the Rolex GMT and the GO in question. Although it's not the Submariner that is the subject of the comparison, it might give you a good idea of the pro's and con's of the brands.

  4. No worries, I've been waiting for a good BPFF so I jumped at the chane of doing a little comparison :)

    I think the 95 is the one to go for if you want accuracy. Like you say, apart from the crown it isn't too bad at all. When it's on the wrist, I doubt the bezel width is that noticeable bearing in mind it's only a 41mm watch. Proportions of the photo probably exagerrate this somewhat.

  5. Very nice. The vintage FF's are in my opinion some of the nicest divers watches around. All in all the reps don't seem too bad, with just minimal flaws, something that only a seasoned BP WIS would be able to spot.

    Here's a little comparison, DSN is on the left in all photo's;

    BPFF07;

    Bezel numbers and markers are too thin

    'Fifty Fathoms' should be in green

    'Milspec' should be in white (looks to be blue from the photo's)

    Minute hand should be thinner than the hour hand

    The outter part of the bezel (metal part) is too thin

    BP07.jpg

    BPFF28

    '6' and '9' are too closed off

    Crown is too thick

    Black part of the bezel is too wide

    Triangles at '3','6' and '9' and the square at '12' are too small

    'Blancpain Fifty Fathoms' text is too thin

    Bezel knurling is much finer on the genuine

    Hour and Minute hands are too square - on the gen they look to get wider as you get towards the tip of the hand

    '3' '6' '9' '12' should be same thickness all the way around the number

    BPFF28.jpg

    BPFF95

    Outter bezel (metal part) should be wider - making black part thinner

    Top text (BPFF) is too thick

    Crown wrong shape

    Hands slightly too wide? (might be illusion of the pic)

  6. I have the TagHeuer Carrera, and really like it! The display caseback is a nice bonus. It has the classic style of the old, iconic Carreras, but in a newer, bigger size. It is one of TH big sellers.

    To me, the Heritage is more like "nice, but why did they made it?"..

    :o .....as a tribute to their early divers watch

    PS that Tag does look very tasty. If I were to buy a Tag, the one you have posted would be the one. For me it's certainly their iconic watch.

  7. In my opinion adding in 'EU Middle Man' is just adding an unecessary headache into the mix. Bear in mind it is not illegal to send watch crystals accross the border if they are labelled as such.

    The senders conscience of sending a 'rep crystal' doesn't change the fact that a watch crystal from a normal watch is 'legally clean'....how would customs know any different.

    I would like to hear your opinion on this Chief.....but if all the EU members had their crystals out and ready to send, would that really make any difference to the other scenario whereby they are sent in one bag from one sender? I know administration your end would be more simple, but I fear that instead of the run being held up because you are waiting for one crystal from a member....the run might be held up because the EU middle man would not be able to send the whole batch to you until they were all received this end?

    In the former scenario you can use your discretion to put the one missing crystal into a later run, whereas in the latter, you have to wait because a large proportion of crystals are still not with you?

  8. Usually when I purchase a watch, after a few months I become familiar with it and like to change to another. With the Skyland, my admiration for it has not yet reached that plateau.

    I have worn it on the SS bracelet, the leather strap, and my latest combination is a black NATO strap. If you want to see more combinations check out MickyPadge's post here - http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=89971

    It is incredibly comfy, and it gives the Avenger a truly purposeful look. To me, the Skyland on a NATO looks how it 'should' do. Ready to get down and dirty :)
