Apart from the usual datewheel problem, it looks quite good! Shame it comes with the 5002 strap design though!

Try searching on Timezone/google images

Speechless. Congrats Kruzer , that is one of the nicest frankens around!

Welcome to the board! The Exploer 2 project will be good, see posts by By-tor (who is fond of them to say the least haha) and also Lazarini who has the genuine, you can pick up some useful information from their posts.
We have a couple of members down here in Brighton now, it's about time we have a little get together, maybe in the New Year!

Hi Guys....sorry for the late update, I'm not going to be able to make the GTG due to uni commitments. I am planning to travel to Europe in the summer for a few weeks, so if any are about it would be great to meet you!
-
If it is definitely a swiss movement, and not the clone version that most UPO's now come with then yes 350 is a very fair price.

You can say that I am the member who is waiting fot your watch. It is not a secret
Please, harry up, many people is waiting for the review
Francisco.
haha ok, some people prefer to remain anonymous when working on watches, but yes thanks Francisco, it will be on its way to you. Received tracking last night so it should be with me in between Xmas and New Year hopefully, then it'll be straight out the door to you

The Windsor Knot is a thick, wide and triangular tie knot that projects confidence. It would therefore be your knot of choice for presentations, job interviews, courtroom appearances etc. It is best suited for spread collar shirts and it's actually quite easy to do.
I may be wrong, but I think the Windsor knot is quite a slim knot. It's the double Windsor that adds width and more of an equilateral triangle shape to the knot. I always wear a double Windsor, but not so lose and wide so that it looks like I'm wearing some kind of Samosa bowtie.

It will probably be a few weeks as I'm sending it off for a movement teardown review first by a member that has worked on them a fair bit. However, it is taking priority over my law dissertation

The problem with the white dial version, both gold and blue is that they vary so much in different lighting conditions. I have seen pictures of the genuine that make it look horrible, to ones that make it look out of this world beautiful. In the flesh in normal daylight they look stunning. From the pictures I have seen, in natural lighting the gold version looks pretty good, I have yet to see a good shot that shows the true colour of the blue version rep.
Here is a good picture of a modified gold version (courtesy of Avitt)

Dont spoil the review Im writing currently But yes you're right, IWC phased the fish out of the 3714. It is correct for the 3714-01/17 models as I believe they came with both, but the 3714-38 came with the later shaped crown as it was released later.

gen
+1....Thinking of making a purchase J5? They are stunning watches on the wrist, nothing else looks quite like the Bentley, I think it's the bezel that does it.

However, when b16a2 gets his, wears it for a couple days, and sends it to you... LOL (kidding) we might find out if anything has indeed changed!
As soon as it arrives it will be sent off for graphite treatment and a movement inspection, so hopefully soon we can have some conclusion as to what movement mods have been done to this. I'm not sold by the claim that the movement is much more reliable than the predecessor, a proper replication of the modded IWC movement would be wishful thinking (especially seeing though the gen uses 31 jewels). I am hoping the movement is improved in some way though, otherwise my cynical ways would have been duped by a marketing ploy
Updates to follow

I thought the F1 was a recent release, I didn't realise the model had such history! Nice pic RG, I'd post a pic of me back in 1986, but I was just being born hehe
-
Great post. I seem to go through periods where I prefer smaller watches to larger ones and vice versa. It's good being in the rep game because I can cater for these changes.
-
Well I couldn't resist, placing my order for a black SS version. Finally I will have my grail watch, I think in the future I will still have to pick up a white dial with gold numbers, but until then, I can't wait to sport this rep!!!

There is no way for the mods to contact this guy?
I guess I just find it hard to believe that a dealer or modder can be added to this forum and recommended to its members with nothing more then a prepaid cellphone number and a mailbox store address. Are we to assume that any dealer or modder could vanish at any moment and the forum can promise no saftey/security to its members?
Mb1, there are no guarantees provided for by belonging to this forum. It is merely a way to HELP PREVENT people getting ripped off. If you had not have joined this forum, you would have at best been paying way over the odds for watches that you can buy here for much cheaper, that is one of the aims it seeks to achieve.
Jakub was offering a service, we were buying it from him. Everything seemed to be fine. Things turned bad. What exactly do you think anyone could do about it? The mods aren't here to ensure our safety from the outside world, they're here to regulate and see the forum keeps going in the right direction and that untasteful people/comments are removed when necessary.
When a service is offered by someone like Jakub, the onus is on the person buying the service to ensure it is safe to use, not the mods. The mods are not the middlemen to the transaction. If you go to any other forum, the same applies. For example, you go onto a car forum, someone pops up and starts offering car servicing for cheap. It all goes well, everyone is happy. Then they disappear with your car. That's not the mods fault. There is nothing they can do apart from saying 'buyer use at your own discretion' There is no plausible way mods, or anyone for that matter can regulate people that enter onto an international public forum like this.

Any of the dealers listed here can be trusted. What version of the planet ocean do you have...is it 42 or 45mm?
-
Is the POC the quartz version, the sub dial spacing looks very good? Wear them well, they're two very nice watches!
-
I can only imagine how fast this would fly off of the 'shelves' if this came with a properly manufactured jewelled movement. This is my grail watch, I think I'd buy one in each colour! If the price is reasonable, and they haven't (which is more likely) I may be tempted to buy it and send it off for the graphite treatment...it's such a beautiful watch!
-
@ Robbie At some angles do you get a purple ring around the outside of the crystal? My SMP had a single AR coating, and although it was colourless, at some angles a faint purple ring on the outside of the crystal would appear.
-
Forget the lume, get him to do a double AR coating as standard
-
I think that's the problem, they have repped a the wrong watch. There are so many UN fans here, me inluded, but to me this is not the best option for replication. I love the uniqueness of the UN designs, but this is a little too unique for the mass market I feel.

Very nice, the datewheel isn't all that obvious with the dial being as complicated as it is! Wear it well.
End Of 2008 Wrist Check
in General Discussion
Posted
Well I haven't posted on a wrist check for a while so what better one to get started on again than the last of the year.....
