Honestly, most likely not. I enjoy it, nice stress reliever (well maybe not, just a differant type of stress). I have a new found respect for the people that do mods as a service, its not quick work.
-
No its not difficult, just takes time and care. These guards were so thick, I wasn't sure it would turn out but overall I am very happy with the result... Now I just have to do the other side.

So I bought the sub on another board last week, the member had started to mod the crown guards but decided he wasn't into it... Me personally I dont even like the Sub but this is the 5th one I've gotten because I enjoy playing with them. I think I've worn all my subs a total of 5 or 6 days. Anyway I bought the sub so I could finish what he started and figured if I couldn't fix it I could still use the movement. Before: After Left Side done(Yes I know my hands are dirty, its polishing dust):

Franken-tudor Chrono..... Check Her Out...whatta Ya Think
supermanx replied to a topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
The tudor chrono would be so easy to do, even easier then the tag link (most parts can be reused between subs and daytonas). I'd take one in a heartbeat. -
#2 Dial, plan on taking a little more time this go around... Filed out the 6 and 9, debating whether I want to go green or pinkish red lume, first coat of epoxy on the seconds:

Last week at Radio Shack I also found a nice set of files, they are on clearance and not available online anymore. The Package has a few differant type and sizes of files in one package and a nice handle. $4.95 radio shack http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...rentPage=search

OK, was at home depot when I found some uv glue... was looking last week on ofrei to glue a cyclops and it was over $20 plus shipping. Home Depot's price: $3.49 for a .07 oz tube (Probably enough to do 20 cyclops with alot left over). $3.49 Home Depot http://superglue.supergluecorp.com/gr.html

I'm not a vintage expert but ofrei sells acrylic rolex pearl (no metal ring). I ordered one because I thought it was a modern pearl.

I've been thinking about a no date as well, got a joshua sub with really nice rehault but scratched datewheel and scratched cyclops... Biggest thing stopping my is drilling lug holes in a case without. Anyone have a suggestion?

Building The Perfect Pam 63... Only 2 Steps Left
supermanx replied to TK471's topic in The Panerai Area
Plus the hands, pam 063 are actually for 029 and are about 1.5 mm too long. -
Maybe I misinterpreted their site, but this portion was not there when I was looking last time (at least I didnt think it was), 2nd level kit is $270.00: "Enrollment for Level 1 and Level 2 classes is currently open. Each level requires registration, a US$50.00 tuition fee paid via credit card, and the purchase of a toolkit. Please read the registration and ordering procedures below." "A tool kit is required and must be purchased for each Level. After you have registered and paid the tuition fee, you may go to the Tool Shop to order tool kits. Click here to go to the Tool Shop "

Looks good, what lume is that? tritec c7?

I never took more pictures, because I decided I do not like the seconds hand and plan on redoing it filing in the second hand... painting the minute and hour hands black, and working a little more on the lume job. As for the cg, I may just flip it for now and keep and eye out for a 127 guard and grind it down. Maybe someone with davidsens latest 217 with the backward cg would want to trade?!?

That really is amazing. So I take it you would recommend the timezone courses? I noticed now they require you to buy the movement and all your tools through their store, but I do not think that was the case 3 months ago when I was first looking. I would sign up now, because I have a spare 2836 and more then enough tools and parts.... but wife would kill me if I have to buy everything again.

First Try At Crown Guards - Old Josh Sub
supermanx replied to supermanx's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I plan on getting a gen crown and good oem or gen tube... When I pull the rep tube off I plan on cleaning up the insides. Can anyone verify if the case should be counter sunk a bit for the new tube for the crown to sit flush (Thought I read it in an old thread, have to search again)? -
OK, Crown Guards on the old joshua sub were way too thick, I had a lv that was out of commision so I figured I try my hand at mod'ing crown guards. I think they turned out OK, but I need to go back and touch them up some. Better then stock but certainly not perfect or up to the work of any of the resident experts here.

Do You Ever Sneek A Watch Purchase Past Your S.o.?
supermanx replied to speedy1's topic in General Discussion
Unfortunatly my wife is home all day so she gets the mail, and I dont trust the mail room guys enough to have packages delivered to work. Biggest issue was getting my daytona serviced... I got the money by selling something else, but she saw the post office receipt and was not happy. I pulled a who what and just ignored her for the rest of the day. -
The 42.5 is nice, except the clasp is a total POS and kept me from wearing it... was always afraid the divers extension would pop out and it didn't close 100%. All around the clasp just sucked (but the engraving was good). Maybe I'm a little critical cause I've owned gen smp's and the clasp on gen is excellent. I waited a long time to get the PO and then sold it within a month.

Yeah what he said, as for feeling the movement. I've had a couple time when I've moved my arm just right that you can feel the movement kick back and wind for a good 5 seconds... Its a very differant feeling from most watches but even genuines with 7750 do it.

No way is perfect-clones slower then silix.

Anyone have any hints on drilling when no lug holes are present, got a tudor that is supposed to have lugs but doesn't.

The florence is amazing it makes me sad I traded it to leitz before recieving it because it is awesome. I was really just looking for a very light strap and the paw is very very nice, but the florence is great.
