  1. I prefer the polished center links of the yachtmaster to the all brushed of the sub, just gives it a touch of class.
  2. I'm interested in one if someone changed their mind.
  3. A refinishing pen would be used to brush a polished cg, not what the op asked. If you dont have a dremel try a polishing compound and a soft cloth until all the brush marks are removed and then a cape cod. Will take a little while, maybe 20 minutes.
  4. Was shooting some pics this weekend playing around:
  5. Was taking some pictures for a post on another forum, figured these might be good for some people:
  6. Got this from a US dealer on the Dark Side:
  7. Not sure who's smp it is, but I also bought an insert for my gen and it fit with no problem. I think the bezel on the rep and gens are very close in the smp unlike some of the subs. As for recommendations, I cant think of any other "upgrade" you can perform for under $20 that would get you the same level of change. You really have to see it in person, the color of the bezel matches the dial background and makes the dial pattern just jump out at you. The rep bezel is a shade too bright and it subdues the dail and markers. And the pearl is much better, can pass for gen from more then a foot away easily.
  8. I've seen a few posts about replacing the bezel insert on their smp, I recently did a trade with a member on the board for a SMP 007 edition with a couple scratches in the bezel so I ordered my third bezel from Raymond Lee on ebay (First was a lv insert, second was a mid sized smp for my gen). Here are some pics of the new bezel: Both, RL Bezel installed holding rep: RL Bezel, much nicer color matches dial and way better pearl photo does not do it justice (but its not perfect): Rep Bezel, to bright bad pearl, basically sucks:
  9. no problem, wife is going out with her tomorrow so I'll follow up then.
  10. I know someone that works at a large chain optical store, she is checking into it for me, but they would have to send it off. I waiting to get a price from them. Hopefully they will be cheap.
  11. Makes me want to keep my 217, what to do what to do.
  12. I just got one from Raymond Lee, makes a marked improvement, the rep bezel is way too bright. The real insert is very close to the color of the dial.
  13. Be very careful, the lume is like paper on the hands. One touch with the wrong tool and it will rip
  14. Congrats on finding and sucessfully completing. These boards are great can't believe the love here. Helping people out that you don't even know, I think im gonna cry.
  15. That looks like the bezel click system used in the sub reps. A pin and a spring typically go in that hole, but its very possible it sprung out when you popped the bezel off. Someone might have one laying around or maybe can post a picture and you can check the hardware store for something that might work.
  16. Using paypal is risky business, wonder what clued him in this is a fake since he left positive feedback.
  17. I especially love: -Not responsible for lost packages to Italy!
  18. Wow this is excellent. I havent gotten into the pams to much nor vintage (thats one reason for selling my 217 and maybe even my 2893-2 063), but vintage and pam is looking better and better everyday.
  19. I'm no expert but from your description, it sounds like the stem needs to be reglued in the crown. Finepics would be a much better help then I though.
  20. But he has sold watches before, a $60 casio and $90 seiko. Looks like this auction may make it to the end.
  21. Even if it pops in you should still glue it or risk losing another one. A good way to file down the back is use some silly putty wrapped around a drill and press the insert lightly onto the putty with the back facing out. Use a very low speed and a fine file to get an even file all the way around. Test fit frequently and be vewy vewy caweful.
  22. I was very happy with the bezel insert I got from Raymond Lee on the bay and it was under $20 shipped. Takes a little work getting it on but the quality is vastly better then the rep.
  23. Hey lietz have you found a local rep friendly watchmaker? I may have, but I have to check him out friday, i need a cyclops installed. Lee
  24. Replacement Breitling hands are very hard to come by, rep or gen.
  25. As far as shape goes it looks very close to the pearl ofrei sells, you would just have to put a little work into making look vintage. I bought the pearl mistaking thinking it could replace a modern sub pearl.
