Request for those with the new IWC Cousteau
yellomen replied to Nebakanezzar's topic in The IWC Area
Around 9 inch in totall from the end of the clasp to the last hole... Don't be mistake by just the strap length! The way the strap is attached to the case is much difefrent from a Panerai Luminor Marina. On my 7-7.5 inch wrist the watch fits nicely... but there is at least 1.5 inch extra to fit the strap and i think it fits a 9 inch wrist perfectly. -
strap size... short part is from the side of the watch to the end of the buckle 3.4 inch and 3.5 inch to the last hole... watch diameter on the underside is around 1.7 inch, so totall 9 inch or so from the end of the buckle to the last hole... in my opinion the strap is quite long!

Patience... a quality control is more important than speed or a few $$ less

OK guys... here is a small review... The ordering from Angus went super smooth, after payment i got a tracking numer a day later (monday) and by the end of the week this beauty was finally here. I wanna thank Angus for the good communication and the quality control he did on this one. The Aquatimer was on my wishlist since it came out and when i saw this limited cousteau divers i knew it replaced the normal Aquatimer from my wishlist. This was the one i wanted! And good for me, half a year later i saw the first posts from Angus showing this pretty piece and saying they would copy it! I was out of my mind from joy The movement runs really good and in a week time it's going about + 25-30 seconds. Chronos work perfectly and it also resets smooth. The new asian 7750 is impressive i think. The only thing that is not flawless is that the date and day are not always perfectly aligned in the day/date window. The weird thing is that the last few days they appear to be more in the centre of the day/date window so it might be start-up problems. It's only a minor thing because they are maybe a milimeter from where they should stand and still completely visible. As for the case... well... 1:1 and the finish is incredible. Next to a lughole there's one small dent from installing the rubber band probably with an iron tool that left the dent there... but it's hardly visible. The dial... the print on the dial... the markers... all incredible! The lume is superlume, but it's only a very thin layer and this explains that it glows only for a short while and not really strong. When i looked at the lume with the magnifier i could see it's a thin layer... when i'm ready to take it of my wrist for a week or two i'll sent it to someone who can lume it. The inner bezel turn good by turning the crown/pusher at the 4 position. Adjusting the time and date works fine as well. I was worried about the inner bezel actually but as it appears it's good. Haven't counted the number of clicks but i guess it's 1:1 as well. The rubber strap is the first rubber strap on a rep i had that feels like a real one. Most rep rubber straps feel way to soft, but i don't have the new 'ultimate panerai' rubber strap so i can't say anything about that. The clasp is also really nice and different from the 'normal' clasp that comes with the other new IWC reps. So they didn't save money on using that same clasp... no they made this one specially for the Cousteau Divers!! Well... i don't know if the watch is waterproof. Angus told me he checked one randomly and it was waterproof to 10 atm (=100m), so it's possible mine is waterproof as well but i'll have that checked before i jump in the water with it. The crown screws on several full turns, so that feels safe The engraving on the caseback is really nice as is the piece of wood with the boat. All this details would blow my mind when seeing the real deal... i guess you can imagine that this one blows my mind in at least the same amount! I am completely astonished by what the Chinese watchmakers and manufacterers are doing these days. One model after another... OK the quality control of the factories is crappy, but this alone is the best reason to buy your watch from a dealer that does his QC himself and finally a wristshot
-
it's a common flaw on the asian valjoux that the date and day to not align perfect in the day/date windows. On a swiss one that's much better IMHO.
-
i wouldn't buy one... purely based on design. Just not my thing. Also i don't care that much if a watch is ceramic or steel or steel/PVD... as long as it suits the design! But i wouldn't buy a watch just because it's made of ceramic.

You have a great collection! Really nice pieces... as for the Submariner... they are all 90% correct at the most, although some advertise them as being 1:1. The dumb thing is that rolex is by far the most copied watch, but still is not available as a good 1:1 copy. Only the vintage sub's and sd's are better than the modern versions. If this is important to you than buy an IWC pilot chrono of an IWC Ingenieur... both are really awesome watches ...or the new IWC Aquatimer chrono - Cousteau divers.... that one is sooooo nice!! If it's not important go a one of the well known dealers...

Does the IWC cousteau wear bigger than.............
yellomen replied to chad's topic in The IWC Area
i received mine yesterday and i think a 44mm Pannie is bigger on the wrist than this one. It's not small but less "there" and less obvious than a panerai. I like it very much and i think it'll be my new daily beater... btw this is the best replica i've seen! The finish of case, dial, AR coating, dialprint... really incredible!!! First crappy pixx are in the other thread -
After that i came home, found a fedex note in my mailbox, rang them up and told them i really needed the parcel today! After 10 phonecall, driving through trafficjam on the friday afternoon for almost 80km to pick it up they told me the driver wasn't gonna be there for another 2 hours ... although we had an agreement the package would be waiting for me. So we agreed the driver would wait for me on a parkingplace near the highway.. again 5 phonecalls and some waiting further i received my package from a nice young lady (the driver) at a parking space a few minutes driving from the highway... i rushed home and this was inside... The watch is really spectacular. The feel of it is incredible... solid, heavy, nice AR coat, even the lume is quite good, runs good, chrono work perfect, innerbezel can be set through crown at 4 and that works fine, the dial... the printing... wow... really good. I have't been so amazed by a watch in a long... long time. The IWC Ingenieur is incredible... this is even better. Big applause for Angus!!!

I picked up mine from the postoffice yesterday. Will take a closer look at it tomorrow and try to install it soon (hopefully a week or so). And when that is done of course i will take picture to show the results of your long and hard labour!! THANX LELLO
-
Mmmm... this is on my list that has to be doublesided AR coated: IWC Inge IWC Inge chrono Breitling Navitimer I would like to sign up for the 4th run already... don't wanna miss my place again
-
-
Nice that U2!! Like it much better than the U1, personally. .... and do i see an Atmos to the left of the watch????
-
You're right Kruzer! Lello put in so much time and effort to make this perfect DW and have it as an easy install for our convenience. I know it's a lot of money if you look at it as just a DW... but let's be real about it... if it's not worth the money to you, you will still have a nice replica with a solid movement... but just not as perfect as it can be. And that is mostly the sport we're interested in So al i can say is thank you Lello

Anyone know why The Replica Collector site is down?

Aaarrrgghhh not again... -
Sure thing... If the price for a swiss version is around $700,- i'd expect a very good watch, quality, look &feel, AR coating, finish, lume, 99.9% like the real one etc... otherwise it's an expensive crappy replica!
-
Crap... i hoped there would be a solution other than "don't buy"...
-
I had 2 Inge chrono's which use the same movement as the Port.chrono... trouble on both of them. First one ran fine and had good PR, but the hour hand and minute hand didn't run in sync... something wrong with one of the gears! The new one stops all the time, when i don't move anough like when watching a movie or theater play... or when asleep.... when i take it of it stops within minutes... what a horror... and this for my favorite watch!!
-
I guys I receive 2 IWC Ingenieur chrono's from Eddie, but both had defective movements. I know it's a module on top of an asian 7750 which is actually asking for trouble. The modules are of really poor quality and the bearings are steel on steel, no jewels. How's you experience with this movement, which is also used in the IWC Portuguese chrono? Any known problems? Trouble movement or not? Love to hear you stories
-
hang in there Champ! Guess you've done so much for the board members that you deserve a little credit and people not bugging you all the time. But if there are some impatient babies ... give it a rest!

The chrono doesn't have a datewheel my friend And if you mean the AR coating look for a post of Chieftang... he takes care of that part.
