  1. Congratulations, and excellent choice!
  2. Not necessarily. In my wifes car, the passenger airbag will only go off is someone is sitting in there who weighs over 50lbs. This is to keep kids safe if they are in safety seats, etc. I'm not sure the Enzo would have that in it though.
  3. You will probably feel it is very large at first, then it will begin to feel normal after awhile. Then, you will go back and try on some 40mm watches, and feel that you are wearing a ladies watch! You may want to consider some of the 40mm models if you feel 44mm is too big.
  4. OK, well an orthopeic surgeon is different than a hospital doctor. Average in the US for that is $157K which seems a little more in line to me than the $276K you mentioned. Doctors in general don't make what they used to around here. Unfortunally, I wish we were like Germany in that our school teachers should be paid more. I don't know how many of them do it. As for the equivalence for schooling in the US, I don't know how to compare that with the EU. But, I can tell you that all schools in the US are not created equal. There can be dramatic differences in the levels of education between different schools throughout the country. I'm sure the EU is the same. Some very interesting points you bring up though! Now, to get back on topic , I have seen over $4/gallon here in southern california. Makes me want to get my own filling tank at home so I can keep these 'low' prices before they skyrocket even more.
  5. I just caught up on this thread as I think this IWC is a great rep. Can anyone comment on the size of the rep compared to the size of the gen? DT, you mentioned that you wanted to see if there was a band that could be used on this watch. With a little modification to any 'normal' band, you should be able to add a strap. Here is an example of someone who put a band meant for a Panerai on an IWC Ingeniuer by cutting the ends. The case is similar on the Aquatimer, so you should be able to do it but cut out the middle instead of the ends:
  6. I would love to see this article. There is no way doctors in the US make that much $$. And, what basis is there that german doctors have better education and are better doctors?
  7. Nice collection Gunnar! You have great taste in watches.
  8. Welcome Shady! Glad you made it. Haven't seen you around for awhile. Some great new watches to check out, although not much new in the Rolex world these days...
  9. I prefer the classic red sub. Most other decent dive watches are a spin-off of that design including this one.
  10. Congratulations Nanuq! Those babies are sweeeeeet! Keepers for sure!
  11. The 'old' one is better, and here is why. Take a look at the picture below. On the far left is the orignial Big Pilot from IWC made in 1940 for pilots. The beast measures 55mm and was meant to be worn outside of a pilot's jacket on his wrist. When IWC introduced the Big Pilot again (the one in the middle), they held fairly true to the original design. The font is the same, the placement of the 12:00 triangle is the same, the style of hands (including the seconds hand w/ teardrop) is the same, the minute markers are the same, etc. I personally like the white date window since it blances the triangle at 12:00. The new Big Pilot on the right looks nothing like the original. They changed the font, took away the '9', changed the style of the hands and markers, etc. It looks nothing like the original. The black date window is the only thing arguably better. But, that being said, they do need to sell watches, and an update in design is probably necessary from a business standpoint, but I think the original is better.
  12. Hey Gran, Thank you for the apology and explanation. That definately clears some questions up, at least it did for me. It doesn't quite explain the deleted threads, but I know 'at bottom' you are a great guy and have RWG strong in your heart. You have always shown that. Welcome back. And, for the rest who like to blame BLADE, I say do not convict until the facts are known. The truth is, nobody knows what happened to BLADE and why the sudden disappearance. We all would like to blame somebody for the watch incident and poor administration of RWG, but the fact is we have no clue what happened and it is not fair to blame anybody (especially BLADE). He started this site to expose scammers. He is not the type to scam!
  13. Or, stay with ImageShack, but directly embed the images into your posts so that people don't have to click on them (and see those smileys and casino BS):
  14. Chinatown? Really?
  15. Oops, didn't notice that. Good eye.
  16. Check out the subdial placement. A relatively perfect rep of this could be made.
  17. They are all more-or-less the same. All of the IWC GST chronos are built in the same factory.
  18. The IWC in that movie is the Mark XV. Unfortunately IWC has been moving in that direction, but business wise, it is probably the right thing to do. They do need to sell watches. I don't think it is a big media campaign, but they are following some trends these days.
  19. Looks awesome! How did you do the crown guard brushing?
  20. Wouldn't it be around 100 years?
  21. The reason I suggest to replace the bezel is because the font for the bezel is off and the transition from black to red is in the wrong place. It should be directly in the center of the 6 and 18. In the replica, it is a little off-center. Also, the blue on the crown is not a big deal. It is put there to protect it. It will come off. Here is a pic of the gen:
  22. I've got Yahoo. Also, we should have a chat section of the board up soon!
  23. Looks awesome! The only thing I would think about updating is the bezel, and that is an easy fix. The rest looks great! How do you like it? The blue on the crown should rub off. You probably won't be able to peel it off.
