Beautiful! I must be looking in the wrong places. I've seen minty 5513's recently approach and cross the $4K mark which is an amazing escalation in the past couple of years. Even the guilt dial Tudors are getting up in the clouds, at least for my wallet. I've seen a couple offered for around $3K recently which just blows my mind. The 1675 remain a somewhat overlooked model but recently, these have begun to gain ground as well. Again , fantastic pair.

The Ivicta coin bezel Sub with the ETA is very close to your price range & has very good reviews. Looks darn close to a Sub. Judging by the photos, I think it may use the old deep style case. http://cgi.ebay.com/INVICTA-9937-MEN-DIVER...1QQcmdZViewItem

That is one smokin' 063! Fantastic work on all counts & excellent pics. I'm almost sorry I gave my 063/2893-2 to the little woman but she loves the watch and rarely takes it off her wrist. The movement is super sweet on these GMTs. Thanks for sharing!

My right thinner watch wearing wirst is 7.125" and sport watches ranging from 35mm to 44mm. Larger would work much better on my 7.75" lefty wrist.

Great watch and looks to be as perfect as it's going to get. Thanks for the review & pics! Does anyone know if new developments for the 42mm are in the works? The 42mm seems to be stuck on the 4th gen model and perhaps forgotten by the manufacturers. I've tried the 45mm but that is one large watch at least for the smaller wristed.

Excellent write up and pics! Many thanks for posting this. Very helpful and the step by step process makes it look simple enough so that some of us chickens may give it a try. BTW, the Palp crown is a very nice improvement! Cheers, Jet

I would also include something from Heuer. Fantastic classic & timeless designs:

Given the age, I suspect that it has the sapphire crystal. If so and in minty condition with boxes and papers, I would estimate around $900-$1K for the full sized model. I've only seen the stainless models offered so perhaps the gold may be a little more. The older full size acrylic crystal models with the Ttritium dials in excellent condition, are more sought after by collectors and range between $1.5K-$1.7K with boxes/papers (Timezone). Great watches and good investments as well. Do you have the opportunity to purchase or just curious? At a good price assuming it's the 40mm case, that would be a darn nice watch.

Terrific work and awesome 16750, J! The gen dial makes all the difference. Man, you move quickly. If you ever get the time, it would be great if you could give me a few pointers drilling lug holes. I'll supply the beer. You have far more practice than I.

Holy Batman! That is a terrific collection you have there. Ditto for your Omegas! Excellent choice of straps as well. Thanks for sharing. -
BT, the bracelet looks like an aftermarket SEL with solid mid-links. Good eye! The watch shown on the photos looks gen to me. However, with a feedback score of 1, what looks to be a three day auction (unusual for this type of watch) and pmt terms that offer the buyer zero protection, I would be hesitant. I wouldn't mind giving it a shot with an inspection period and credit card pmt protection. The photos could be from anywhere.

I was afraid to check out this post. I had a funny feeling that my 1665 would look inadequate in comparison and in more ways than I could address......and I was right. Fantastic workmanship, Randy! Enjoy that beauty! Jet

BT, not sure why Saabin is not here but he built some darn nice frankens. No small thanks to one of his tutorials demostrating the differences between and MBW and CN vintage rollies (part by part), I got my start collecting these watches. He was very helpful as well. Fantastic watches, gents. Keep 'em coming! This is not near as complete as some of the others from the mod gods but it's okay. 1665 with OEM T-39 superdome, insert and crown/tube.

I'll take a case at that price. Here is the 50th Anniversary re-edition : http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=16750 -

I the 5513. Euno, you're very fortunate to own such a classic piece. I should have jumped on one of these a couple of years ago before the rollie crowd began to aggressively collect them. Prices have basically doubled since. I guess I'll have to settle for a lowly 14060 which at least has the T-25 dial. Great pics & thanks for showing off this beauty. PS: You might enjoy this: http://www.watchwallpapers.com/sub.htm

Cleaned up for the photo. Nothing technical looking but have plenty of natural light.

I enjoy the heck out my reps. However, one should look at the actual prices the gen can be purchased for & not so much their MSRP. For example, a minty PO shows up on TZ regularly for around $1.7K with all the factory goodies. If one were to mod a rep PO with gen parts and service the movement (we can't leave anything alone around here), the net cost differential becomes considerably closer. The old model gen Seamaster auto (used) is around $1K and which makes for an even more interesting comparison. We have an anal crowd around here. That's the reason rep manufaturers are up the a 6th try on the 45mm PO, and counting.

Wow, I can't believe I almost missed this terrific post! Awesome, avitt! Many thanks for posting this.

Much better deal & no question on this one: http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tre...1987&rid=0b

Rollies (specially Subs, SDs & Daytona) are usually scarce this time of the year in Manhattan. Between Holiday shopping, bonus season and the enormous amount of visitos, the high end stores get wiped out. I was at Tourneau a couple of months back and even then, a Sub, GMT or SD was nowhere to be found........they did mention that I could get on a waiting list. BTW, The Pam display section was also looking mighty thin. Our European friends are having a field day shopping in the US with a Euro on steroids. I much rather take my chances on reputable sellers on TZ than some unknown on 57th street........that is were the good deals are at anyway. Glad you had fun on your trip. The tree at Rockefeller Center is awesome and the largest ever. It's around 78' X 45'.

Post A New Release Poll & Win A Free Watch..
Jetsons replied to Richard Tracy's topic in General Discussion
Hi, RT: Thanks for the explanation. That clears things up a bit. In this case, my suggestion would be look toward classic models that have been out of production for some time. They will not be available at your local jewelry store, but they can be sourced with a bit of patience. The Tudor line for example, is no longer owned by big brother and the current Tudor offerings are not considered to be what they once were. However, the vintage Tudor Submariner series are in very high demand by collectors and are considerably lower in profile that its more famous previous owner. The Seamster 300 discussed in the previous thread would be another terrifc option. I am not sure how open Jay & Angel would be to the creation of classic vintage pieces but it would have its advantages......first and foremost, the possibilty of commercial sucess is there plus they will remain low on the radar of OEM manufacturers. Another option would be to have J&A generate a list of what they feel comfortable producing and we could vote on those selections. This process would narrow our choices but it would achieve results. I believe they have our attention given the number of views and replies on the two prior threads on this subject. -
Post A New Release Poll & Win A Free Watch..
Jetsons replied to Richard Tracy's topic in General Discussion
RT, I just not sure why it must be a watch that has never been replicated. As tvt mentioned, there are many terrific watches available at this time however, the few models that would be in nearly universal demand (now and in the future), are far from perfect. This is the reason many of us insist on modifying what is available to work with. In addition, some of the better base platforms are no longer available. These models would include the Seamaster, Submariner & Sea-Dweller. The Sea-Dweller for example, has never been truly replicated.....sure, there are look a like models available but even the best has been a weak representation of the original. In my view, this is a fantastic opportunity to have an super rep and in that context, I would suggest that additional options be considered in the selction process. The opportunity to create a very accurate representation of the original should be reserved for a classic and timeless watch that would insure commercial sucess. Many thanks for all your efforts. The thought of an actual 1:1 creation with some sort of quality control is something that should get quite a few of us excited. -
Rep. The applied hour markers are too large & positioned too far from the seconds marker lines around the dial. The seconds line marks at the hour position have a bolder print on the gen to contrast the seconds. On this one, they are all the same. The gen does not have the SeaNaster issue. It is clearly SeaMaster on the gen. The dial print of the photo is too bold. It is thinner and very sharp on the gen. The Omega logo looks too rounded on this one plus the Omega & logo sits too low on the dial. If the 12'oclock marker were correctly positioned (higher on the dial), the logo would be too low. The hands appear to be of the correct length and would cross the hour markers correctly if the applied markers were positioned closer to the seconds markers, as they should. The bezel insert is misaligned, a common issue with reps & the metal pearl surround is a too thick. Just my 2 cents.

A the high risk of sounding boooooooooring, if an super accurate 16610 were produced, it would sell like hot cakes. There are some decent 16610s now but they are far from being 1:1. It would be fantastic to see the old TW deep case with accurate parts completing the package. The bezel should take OEM inserts, OEM tubes should fit, correctly positioned cyclops (for a change) with correct date mag plus CGs and dial that approach perfection. The rep should use the trip lock crown system as those generic parts are already available. A second model could easily be added for the vintage junkies with the addition of the correct 2mm side case holes and transitional T-dial......that would be killer. Added: The case material should have a higher nickel content than the standard 316L. The gen case is whiter and brighter than the current rep cases. Ditto for the Sea-Dweller which would also be a great choice. It seems very strange to me that the most accurate 16610 rep produced (exclusive of the dial) is long extinct.
