Hi guys, I've see some ETA movement has the date at 3 o'clock position but some at 6 o'clock depends on the watch. Can someone tell me please if the date location dependent to the movement or date wheel? Thanks! Cougaree

I have seen the pictures. If anything, the engravings on the rotor looks bit rough. I have a SOSF. When I bought it, I was told it has Swiss movement, it also looked like to me until I sent my watch to Zigmeister. He could tell clone from gen.

Well, the problem is that your dealer or seller might not know they have clone movements or like to acknowledge. I tend to just believe they are clones when I buy them, so I can have pleasant surprises later I've just noticed that on Josh's website, the SOH are sold for having Asian 2824-2 movement, but if I want, with additional $50, I can get a Swiss 2836-2 movement. Is this a mistake or I can actually, technically fit a Swiss 2836-2 movement if I like? Anybody?

Don't want to spread any rumors here, but I remember I've seen a thread here somewhere that saying all v2 having clone ETA movements. The v1, on the other hand it's possible to have gen ETA movement inside. I could be wrong though, especially I really can't tell the difference between a gen ETA movement and a clone one. Experts, please chime in!

If I were you, I would take this incident as an opportunity. I believe all the v2 have clone movement inside, so instead of paying to have the movement fixed, I would change out the movement for a gen ETA 2824-2 if possible. I know sometimes a watchmaker would charge more for servicing a movement than swapping one.

Maybe it's too new? I found the rep skyland dial on my v3 is pretty good, especially after Zigmeister's touch on the lume dots.

Thanks for sharing your insight! It's a nice read! I've never had a SA before, but I'm a huge fan of BCE. Mechanically, based your description, SA is same as BCE on the bezel. As you mentioned that v2 is a pain to take the bezel off, I wonder if v2 SA is made by the same factory that makes BCE v1/v4 because on BCE v1/v4 it's hard to take the rep bezel off also. I hear you about the bezel spring (or clip) and ratchet ring. You are 100% right. If you can have gen spring and ratchet ring, you are set! The magic on the gen ring is that 4 parts of the ring actually bent downward (approximately 0.5mm) opposite to the tabs that make the bezel click. This increases the height of the ring, which essentially make the bezel clicks more "solidly".

From looking at the text under the balance wheel, the first one appears to be an ETA 2836-2 movement. The second one, I'm guessing it's an Asian movement you found in a Rolex rep. However, I'm not sure if the ETA movement is genuine or copy as they can always fool me. It seems to me that most copy movements do come in gold finish where genuine are available in two finishes: Nickle and Gold.

The SOH v2 dial looks to me very decent. I dont' know think I would put a gen dial on mine.

What happens if you accidentally push the pusher under water? Will the water leak in?

Good luck with it BB! It will be interesting to see how you WR those chronograph pushers. Especially they are not screw down. Not to moving away from the main topic. My SOSF without purposely sent for WR, survived from Florida swamp earlier this year. I was amazed it's naturally water tight (not sure what depth it can hold up).

Guys, It doesn't seem to me that the ETA 2824-2 (or 2836-2) movement uses any cannon pinion like what I would expect on ETA 6497 movement. Instead, if you want taller hands, you will have to install taller Hour, Minute and Second wheels. Is this true? I had been told by some watchmaker that the standard wheel is a H3, but I also heard that the standard wheel is a H4 (5.5mm). Which one is the standard? What is the best height to use on a SOSF and SOH modifications (i.e. installing a gen ETA movement into the watch)? Do I need all three wheels to be consistently H4 or H5? or I can combine? Thanks in advance!

120 click bezel is good... it's a much needed improvement over the 60 click ones! Have you done any WR testing on it?

SOH v2 (just got it)... very nice!

I was told it's built cheaper. Not sure how much cheaper. From the link you provided in one of your reviews, the v4 has yellowish AR and visible crown tube and constant serial number. To me personally, I'd like to install gen bezel, but it may not allow me to remove the rep bezel (I had a v1 case, it had 60-click and thick bezel, and I could not remove it) The text on the v4 tabs are nice but off centered just like on a v1, the markers on the bezel is too close to the outer edge. If the v4 uses the same case as v1, the case is slightly thicker than v2/v3 also.

It looks to me the rep is either a model v1 or v4 because of its bezel maker locations and its windrider tab text. Is there a v2/v3 of the same?

Watchmeister: Your gen may be cheaper, but it really depends on the franken models. I would agree with you on an used gen Omega PO vs franken one, but not on a Breitling BCE. To fully mod a BCE (to get an 90% gen looking), you will need a v2/v3 model, which will run you say $300 Then, you add another $300 for the dial, $430 for the bezel and tabs. Maybe install a gen ETA 7750 movement for $350 + $100 labor. Have the hand lumed say $50 job. Total: $1530. About a little over half of what you would paid for an used BCE.

Jkay, It's mainly the photography of this watch. Actually the rep out of box doesn't look too bad. This is mine (v2) before being modded.
