Quick question. Is there a way to toggle OFF Dark Mode for the forum? My old eyes struggle with Dark Mode these days. 😞

The stuff coming out of VSF and Clean as of late is pretty darn good. Ever since Rolex switched to “blue” AR under the cyclops that immediate tell is gone. I had my VSF 126610 Sub together with the Genuine 126610 and it took serous scrutiny up close to tell. On the wrist, and arms length it is indistinguishable. Still a VSF with Gen crystal mod would be a fearless wearer. Anymore, at my age no one would question me.

The clones have gotten so good and at our age and station in life, no one would second guess it. I would only swap outward facing parts that clearly have a tell. I say let it ride.

Good points. What attracted me here, to RWG.CC, was the technical knowledge and modding/Frankenstein friendly nature. Also, the FS/Trade area was hopping. This being Bytor’s home forum helped way back when. Todays “kids” on the replica Reddit probably have no idea who he was. LOL. I wonder if more specialization would help. Go back to being the premier modding, watchmaking, Frankenstein, homage forum. ??? RWG.BZ seems to be pretty active as well. Another 180 from a decade ago. 🤔

I stumbled upon the Reddit subform for reps. Personally, I am not a fan of consuming watch content on Reddit. Forums are way better suited. However, I found this forums omission from their "links" section a bit odd. As an old timer here who was gone for a few years, did I miss some kind of falling out between the reddit guys and us? Why isn't rwg.cc "featured/linked" over there? Anyone? History lesson?

Good stuff. Unrelated, but I have a cal3000 powered Gen 14060 Submariner. The movement is not doing well -30/day. Anyone ever service a Gen cal3000 no date here? I can do an ETA 2824 in my sleep. I don't want to send it to RSC because they will replace my Tritium 'peach' dial. Similarly, anyone know if a 14060 3000 can be upgraded to a 3130 cal COSC? Guessing it is a drop in upgrade. (Don't tell the Rolex police. 😛 )

Dang! I have FOUR DW's in a drawer. One needs the Freddy333 "Epoxy Fix" on the sweep seconds hand, so I am not wearing that one. One needs a balance assembly. 2 are working great....

I can confrim a Gen Dial fits the Clone movement. I am curious if a Gen Date wheel will also transfer over.... Any Clone Movement experts out there?

Hey gang, anyone have experience fitting the VR, etc.. 31xx Clone movements in 5-Digit "Genuine" cases? I am old school and my experience is with the older 15xx movements in 4-digit cases. Do 31xx movements install the same way as 15xx movements? By that, I mean-- Drop in the grooves and Turn the movement and LOOSEN (raise) the case screw to lock it into the case? or are 31xx case clamps? That said, knowing the 31xx clones are based on the ETA platform did they clone the proper mounting mechanism for use in gen cases? And I am guessing the movements don't come with mounting hardware so I would need the proper screws (part number?) Thanks!!!

Ha. I can see the video on my phone. That looks dope! Unless the dial feet are creating a stand-off and are bottoming in the movement I doubt that will help. Again at the expense of calendar interference. See if you can find a caseback from a 5-digit 16013 or equivalent. I believe when Rolex went to the 3k they gave the caseback some additional clearance. This was the case with the 16750 GMTs anyways.

I could not see the video??? No cutting the dial legs wont help, in fact, that will stop the date wheel from working/flipping over. (Again Pie Pan dial, who knows though) Honestly, if all else fits, take the autowinding mechanism off and just make it a manual wind. 😉

Thanks for keeping the lights on! Out of curiosity is there a timeframe you have in mind? A week, a month, 6 months? -if no one comes forward, before lights out? Also, is there a physical server involved or is this running in the cloud (AWS?). Edit to add: if it looks like lights out, I am curious if there is a way to archive/memorialize some of the key pinned content? Plan B: RWG Archive project anyone???

If you want to use a 3xxx series movement you need to build in a 5-digit sapphire crystal case. 1601 = 4 digit. 15200 = 5 digit. Poke around eBay to understand the models. I would probably still avoid a 16xxx DateJust. Not sure what became of pie pan dials after the 1601.
