WOW I'm a big Panerai fan but that thing is plain ugly IMO. Not even a spot on the 233's butt.

It certainly is a gen but the bezel as you've eluded to looks to be a replacement. I'm guessing this is an early to mid 90's model with the Tritium lumed dial and the serial numbers are very small and should be stamped under one of the lugs. As always though crack it open to really know for sure.

Best to send the watch back as it is a defect that the dealer should fix with a replacement watch.

I live in Melbourne Australia, And have no trouble picking stuff up but the trick is you need to be glued to these forums pretty much the whole day LOL. It does look very nice but that datewheel is a dealbreaker for me. Maybe we can do the datewheel mod like the big pilots on this.
