I agree with you somewhat R. Some of this responsibility should come from the buyer in terms of comparing to gen though. You have to factor in the reputation of the seller also. If someone is selling a "super franken" then yes, a cost breakdown should be included in the post. Also, i think there is an actual rwg rule that says you cant modify a watch for the sole purpose of selling at a higher price. Take that for what it's worth i suppose. $3.5k definitely needs a breakdown of the cost put into the watch!

One other turn off with buying reps for me, and this may sound weird, but is the sheer volume of rep production. The cartels put up new releases 2 to 4 times a week and at least 2 new watches each time. It's kind of disgusting! I know I'm "the pot calling the kettle black" but geeze! It's a big FU*K YOU to all the genuine makers. The folks that we all respect so much... I could go on with this age old philosophical rep debate but I digress...

I go back and forth. As mentioned above part of this hobby of collection reps is having to make those adjustments or mods to make the watch up to snuff or to your liking. To some, that's part of the fun. To others, it's just a hassle. It's a very subjective hobby. I have limited myself now to either franken builds I build myself (do to poor craftsmanship of modders. They have so much volume, they rush projects. Or they just don't care) or gens...
