  1. Yes, that's Chastity (soon to be known as "Chaz") Bono. She just came out as "transgendered" and will be undergoing sexual reassignment soon. Imagine being in the limelight all your life and now having to go through this difficult transition period publicly. I feel for her and wish her the best.
  2. I love Mrs Ubi's J12 but I noticed that it looks a little "tight" on her wrist or maybe that's what she prefers. I'd take a link out so it was just slightly loose. Just my opinion, otherwise a beautiful watch.
  3. Yes, Narikaa shows it on his newest photo page but he does not give details about case size. Let us all know what you find out please. That's a beautiful watch. I would also be interested if it is 32mm and not 29mm or smaller. Good Luck....
  4. That sucks, Stilty. Hang in there. I also believe that things happen for a reason. Maybe you were meant to spend a little more time with your family right now. Good Luck....
  5. @ SkiBum: Yep, I'm in the same boat. I'm a Quality Engineer and was laid off May 1 after 10 years with the company. Don't know what business you're in but the only market hiring at all is the medical field (nurses, specifically). Good Luck,
  6. Hey, checking in from Laguna Beach!! I'll be there, looking forward to it.
  7. The simplest thing to do is to take it to the "fashion-watch kiosk" at the mall. They usually have some eager teenager working there that knows all about changing watch batteries and sizing bands.
  8. Good to know, Gioarmani!! Thanks for sharing the info, I will definitely "bookmark" this site for my future purchases. Great bags, by the way, especially the messenger bag, hadn't seen that one before. Can't wait to surf their site!!
  9. Re: "wood lasting more than four hours" Better call the doctor.......
  10. Very true, crocodiles do spend a lot of time in the water, however, I'll bet most don't use moisterizing soaps, anti-fade hydrate shampoos & conditioners, daily thermal mini-peels and such. If they did, they wouldn't have very crocodile-like leather for very long, would they? I agree with your wife, keep the leather watch straps out of the shower. I never quite understood why anyone would want to wear their watch in the shower anyway. OK, I can understand if you wear a watch to the gym and then shower, not wanting to take the watch off for fear of losing it or worse, but other than that, I guess I don't get it. I see people on TV also wearing their watches to bed. Huh? OK, maybe if it's a spur of the moment thing, but generally, no. Just my opinion.
  11. I always love seeing your avatar show up...that's a great-looking dog there AmStaff! Keep the posts coming.
  12. When I bought my Chopard GTXL from Josh it came on a black rubber strap. It's OK but I really prefer the white strap version. Anybody know where I can get a white one like in the photo? If the photo doesn't upload then here's the link: http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-5/7255...hiteChopard.jpg Thanks!
  13. Saw the Grateful Dead and Quicksilver Messenger Service (later just Quicksilver) when I was 15 at a free outdoor concert at Maryland University, College Park, Md. around the 1968~1969 timeframe.
  14. Beautiful 40mm PAM you got there, prsist. Don't often see that one on a bracelet. Those VCOs have a big presence for 40mm. Nice, dluddy.
  15. Where did you find a 40mm PAM? I thought they were no longer available. Private party, I assume? Can't wait to see the wristies.....
  16. I searched here and saw all the threads about rep sunglasses. Not interested, I always wear gen because of the UV safety, etc. However, I am interested in rep Rx eyeglass frames. I picked up a pair of gen Chrome Hearts "Jablome" this weekend in the "brown stripe" color. The shop is letting me try them out for a few days with the plano lenses to see if they work for me before I decide to put my Rx in them. And I thought, "Hey, why should I spend $800 on frames alone when they are really not that extraordinary, especially since my hair covers the really nice ear-piece details, if I can get a comparable rep?". I already saw some gens on eBay about $200 cheaper but they were the wrong color. An alternative is to find a place that sells high-end frames at discount prices. Any suggestions are appreciated. -whoop
  17. FWIW, I don't believe their action was really something personally aimed toward you... I believe they are just sheep "following the flock". Even my favorite Hamburger joint here in Southern California "In 'N Out Burger" secretly has a religious message printed inside the lower rim of all their paper cups....something about Matthew 3:16. This was exposed in the newpaper a few years ago and apparently it goes back to their original founder's belief. I just ignore it, I don't really think that the hamburger-slinger behind the counter is targeting me personally. whooperdog
  18. Ugh, guys I seriously need a rep of an updated modern watch. I'm wearing my old gen 50's Rolex BB (grandpa-style) because my only other watch is a faded-out gold Tag sports elegance (15+yrs old) with most of the gold-plating worn off. whooperdog-gal
  19. Great thread about white dial watches. I am just starting to look for the smaller (40mm and under) men's rep versions with white faces since the choices for ladies in general are pretty slim. You guys are lucky to have so many great watches to choose from but it's pretty hard for a gal to pull off a watch larger than 42mm especially if it has a black face. I keep trolling the FS section. Hey, maybe that could be a good outlet for all you guys to get rid of your older (too small now) white-faced watches (leather-bands preferred) unless your GFs have gotten the bug and already claimed them. Sell off your old "highly-modded" watches so you can buy a new one. Come on guys, let's see those watches materialize!! whooperdog-gal
  20. Sr. Quality Engineer by day - pay is better than good, work is sometimes quite chaotic (parts not fitting together, assembly lines going down, people not following procedures, etc.) but I thrive in these types of situations that I can "fix". I am just really happy to be gainfully employed right now. I consider myself fairly successful because I'm in a great relationship for 19+ years with the love of my life and have 3 rescue Dachshunds that I cherish. I finally got the car of my dreams last year, a 2002 Porsche Carerra Cabriolet, after biting the bullet and trading in my Mini Cooper S and my 1957 Porsche Speedster (replica). I do have a real Rolex but it's a 1950s Bubble-Back Grandpa-style watch (32mm) but I have starting wearing it everyday for the last month so I can get used to wearing the larger sizes, that way my options of finding a rep that I like are greater. I'm really happy I found this forum! whooperdog-gal
  21. I'm a Noob-Gal from Laguna Beach, CA and ditto to what Dennis3506 said, only it is REALLY hard to find a suitable Ladies watch. I don't like the super-girlie Chopard Happy Sports or the ones with ice & bling, not super crazy about Rollies but tend to like the white-faced Panerai 40mm (good luck) and the bigger Omega Constellations, etc. It's been a wild-ride since I joined yesterday. I'm excited, bewildered, a little frustrated but still having the fun of my life. Can't wait to find my first good-quality rep. It's addicting! Thanks, guys for all the info. Now....hopefully that annoying banner will go away!! whooperdog
