I'm very jealous my friend!! you are one lucky SOB Maciek!!!!!! Looking forward to the finished watch and I simply insist that you give it to me for my 40th in September!!
-
Double RED for the first part of the weekend and WM9 TTSub for the Sunday /Monday holiday.
-
I thought the crown looked good!! I too have purchsed a gen tube, gen 18K Crown and Gen 295 crystal. I have a good aftermarket insert waiting too. Was the tube easy to fit or did it require drilling and tapping?
-
Are you happy with it?
-
Yes it does look like a WM9 Sub. The flat S does not scream fake. My gen steel Sub has the same font from 2003. Very nice. Mine is due to be shipped this week from George(WM9).

Sounds fantastice! and I agree 100% with you about Angus. He will always be my first port of call should I need a good smooth deal. It is nice to be able to put a face to the dealer I'm sure and will give more here confidence to deal with him if it was really needed anyway! I would like to know what you think about your Santos 7753 as it is high on my current wants list? You will have now caused Angus to receive many, many AP ROO '12' emails! including me!!! great post and thankyou.

I'm No.2 on the list at my local AD for this stunner but don't expect to see it this year really. He says 3-4 watches will arive there in a 12 month period. Retail is around 5000.00 pounds so this will probably attract a premium on the Bay I guess. I have canclelled my Dayotna top get this watch! but whether it is a keeper will depend on how it feels in the flesh. I guess the waiting list on Subs is dwindling as they had both 16610 and an LV models in stock! plus SD's too.

I will be wearing this for the next few days. Just finished putting it together.

Very sorry to hear this maciek! I have never owned a dog but I had to have our cat put to sleep in November and my dad followed her shortly after. You never forget and it will get easier my friend. Take care Paul

I think it was me that you are thinking of as I had a 1665 project going on. I have halted the job for now and not ordered the case set yet from Phong as my gen 1570 went missing in the post as some of you will have read about and has stopped me from progressing at this point. Instead I'm going to convert my MBK DRSD when it arrives from Thailand next week via our new dealer Eurotimez.

I've had this message on the last five packages. Because customs are now slower to operate this messgae is now written when it arrives at the 'international hub' before being release to Coventry 'national hub'. If you have been charged it will state 'RELEASED WITH CHARGES'. I would.nt worry and the next time you look it should say 'enroute to delivery depot' and all will be well.

Very nice indeed. Is that the one that was for sale on Ebay at a lot of money!?

Newest Sea Dweller from Sead--slightly better than my last.

Angus is listing this new improved bezel model and posted one off to me today so we will see when it comes. I have the first gen rep plus next week I should have a gen to compare too if the deal comes off. When I asked Joshua about it he dismissed it as rubbish and said we are now on the 3rd production run but was not aware of any real difference in models! I guess he is not the man to buy from on this occasion! -
Drawbacks to shipping internationally with reduced customs dec. value
watcher replied to a topic in General Discussion
It will remain a mystery as to where and when the movement was taken out of it's protective packing and only the one half of a clear plastic bag remaining but it will not stop me from buying Internationally and have indeed done so 7 times in the last 3 weeks without any issue. I have no desire to pay duties and took the risk and sadly this gamble did not pay off this time around and could not have happened on a worse item and has now put my 1665 SD on a back burner for quite some time but I'll get there in the end. The worst thing is that there will be some little [censored] somewhere either here in the UK or over the water in America with a movement that they may have no real clue what to do with and will probably sell it for 50quid! and buy some drugs!......very sad! Anyone got a 1570 to sell me???!!! -
Take care of yourself and I sincerely hope your future brightens up. Health is all that matters in this world, get well soon!! Good luck to the auctionees!
-
To be honest I would not even go down the MBW route with the quality parts you have already. I'm creating a 1665 white SD at present with the same movement and all genuine parts( already got them) but I will and actually already have gone for the Vietnam case as they are machined ready and require pretty much no work to be correct in detail and finish. It's upto you of course but I think the extra wait to get the required pennies is well worth it in the end!
-
It is too late for me as I have just oredered a 1665 case from ND but the comparison between a Vietnam case set and the MBW/MBK watches is not quite a fair one on one deal. An MBW is a complete watch that can be worn straight away without adding genuine parts if required but the ND/Phong cases are only that, cases! They are machined to accept genuine parts only and this is where the true expense and time comes into it. It is all well and good getting cheaper cases from Vietnam and I'm all for that on any future projects but you will spend 4-5 times more on the parts required for a convincing watch than the few hundred dollars a case will cost. I realise some of you will be aware of this but some may not be and Oliver opened my eyes to the detail that can be acheived from what is not really to be classed as a replica but more a gen watch with an aftermarket case. You will certainly spend a similar amount that could be paid for a genuine 2-3 year old Submariner. I have already spent close to $4000 and still need a gen clasp and 4 links for the bracelet for my 1665 GWSD project. Everything is of the vintage and totally genuine apart from the dial and case and brand new 585 end links. Dials alone can cost $2-3000! I just thought I should add this to the post more for the newbies than anything else and will be showing off my pride and joy very soon.

Toni my friend Iam in shock. Maybe you have told me and I have forgotten but we are 40 on the same day!!!!! and we both have this watch project!! I can't wait to receive my case from Phong! I was in Marbella last week but only for 3 days on business. I will be there for August and most of September so I hope we can get together finally!
-
Very beautiful my friend. I too will have a beauty like this soon thanks to Oliver and Phong! I ordered this same case from him today and just need to source a gen dial and movement and were off and running. Oliver has kindly supplied me with much knowledge and some oem parts too. Thanks!! This gets me very, very excited. I'm building this watch as a 40th birthday present to myself later this year. Thankyou for giving me some pics to aim for!!!!! Have you aged the case Toni or did it arrive like this??

That is clearly much closer to the oem Bezel for sure. The end links look nicer too. Enjoy -
If anyone bids they will be going up against me! and Oliver knows why I'm going for this one I'm sure. I'd be happy at 2K

I bought a 16610 Sub on Saturday and had the choice between a new M serail as shown with the engraving or a 3 month old example without and had no doubt in my mind which I wanted. The engraving looks bloody awful and makes the watch look cheap and fake! There is no other difference whatsoever between this new style and the last Submariner other than the engraved rehaut. Some may like it but for me it makes a simple and elegant tool watch look bling!! It is also the opinion of the dealer I bought from and many of his clients have said the same thing. Also the price has risen this week to 3090 pounds for a Submariner in steel. Anyway that is my thought on it first hand.
