I agree. Rolex crowns achievement like a BMW crowns achievement. It is a great and recognisable brand + excellent quality. But pretty far from the top. There is no doubt that Patek is a very classy watch. The detailing has to be experienced at close hand and does not show well on most pictures. I fear that many members here only really know the reps of Patek. But remember that even within the rep-world most of these are from the lower end. Low volume and low price makes it hard to make a close rep. If I could afford it, I would prefer the Gen Patek over the Gen Rolex. In the rep world it is the other way round. Rolex reps have the advantage of economy of scale. Thus they can be a much bigger bang for the buck than a rep Patek.

From all the feedback here I don't think you will get the same service with Timesshop as with Bergie. TS is a Chinese volume business. Their margins are small, and the service level can be hit and miss. I have only bought watches form them and if you are patient there are good deals to be had over there.

Also consider the Jaeger Tourbi. Member Calatrava has one which he rates very highly.

What amazed me reading this article, was the extent to which the participants seemed proud of their achievements. Guess that indicates that the practicewas legal in Switzerland. Surely that cannot be the case today!! ?????

This article is pretty old (2007), but the story it tells is never-the-less very interesting. Basically it turns out that big name companies like Patek and Omega put their own watches to auction - only to buy them back at inflated prices. The purpose of which: To rig the whole market so as to create an artificial inflation in the second hand value of their watches. I do wonder if this practice is still going on, and to what extent it is legal at all? I certainly doubt that it would be in the UK, but perhaps Switzerland is different. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB119178753176051433.html?mod=hpp_us_pageone

A similar rep has been around for quite some time. I am sure you have read the review already, but for others, here is a link: http://www.rwg.cc/topic/90362-iwc-minute-repeater/

Silverspeed on the other RWG has one. And it looks really good: http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19440

It is probably a bit late now, given that the thread is a couple of months old. Still... You can get rep frames from Aobobuy. I have had a few from there. But I can only recommend that you don't go this route at all. Not only can you not be sure of the quality of the frames. They differ as much as watches, but there are no reviews available anywhere to guide you through the jungle. Even worse, you should really try a model on. The face is the most noticeable aspect of you and a frame should suit you. In proportions, materials and coulours. You cannot tell until you have tried the specific frame. Worst of all it proved difficult and expensive to get the linses. There is no rep solution here and if the frame breaks after a short while your loss could be pretty big as the chances are that you cannot transfer the linses to another frame. Been there, done that. - And it was not a good idea!!

Nice and inspirational. But not exactly Timesshop prices....

Dazzling array of Breitlings and Tags ... At Costco UK !?!?!?!?!?
mbjoer replied to ninjagaiden's topic in General Discussion
No. All fake. I have it from reliable sources that Sead and Trevor have made a joint venture to enter into the UK High Streets starting with Costco. -
While looking for Timesshop at RWI, you will be very interested to read this comparison between the Gen and the Rep: http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/gen-rolex-gmt-master-ii-86444.html

I can officially say the #1 watch of C.E.O.s is Rolex...
mbjoer replied to tabularasa415's topic in The Rolex Area
Hmmm Seems this thread has moved from dinner party to tea party.... -
Be aware that there are issues with the 2836 movements and the GMT hand. The 21J might be a better option.

Yes, having played around with the new format for a bit, I totally agree. It is a great iimprovement, and in my humble opinion far better than the other fora's formats. Congrats and many thanks for upgrading.

Again the geography plays a role here. I have noted that some guys in the US love to show off an all gold DayDate even with a gold bracelet. Here in the UK that combo is seen as pretty naff. I seriously doubt that any CEO here would wear that. -
Looks pretty good. But non-functioning buttons or dials? NO! - NO! - NO!

Great post, even if not surprising. As to the composition of watches in attendence, I think the location might play a role. In London you would be more likely to see at least one Patek. ......And quite a few Timexes -
Oh, ............ wasn't aware of that. And I certainly will not sell mine....

Why I love chronographs...add your favorites as well
mbjoer replied to Watchmeister's topic in General Discussion
Junghans is pretty underrated in my opinion. They had a designer called Max Brill who made a chronometer which must have been the inspiration to the IWC Portuguese Chrono. The IWC version came much later and looks very similar. I think that the Junghans version has been re-issued some years ago. -
I am wearing the rep version of the Panda just now. And wouldn't dream of buying the Gen, even at this price. I know there is a tell: 1/4mm of pusher length!! The rep is great and multissima mucho cheaper than the discounted Gen. If buying a Gen, I would get one which has no similarly great rep version.

Hi Guys, Welcome here. There is an awful lot of information on the site, including a list of Trusted Dealers. Go to the front page and scroll down to the section called Watches, Clothing and Accessories and you will find them there. And when you have found that, familiarise yourself with the Search button. That is the single biggest help here. And when you have done that, be warned that the one watch you want quickly turns into a bit of a collection....

Any suggestions on Breitling Bentley Flying B ?
mbjoer replied to cougaree's topic in The Breitling Area
In that case, all is good and well. I do the same. What made me respond was this comment: People who are not Breitling nuts won't know to look for any of the problems. To me that sounded like a reference to other people than himself. I am however pleased that it looks good enough to get positive responses. -

mbjoer replied to cougaree's topic in The Breitling Area
Hmmm. Maybe so. But sorry to be negative about the bargains. From the pictures here I must say that you the expensive one looks fantastic, and the cheap ones do not. A watch does not look expensive to most people unless it is really beautifully made. When it is, it looks expensive even if it says Casio. It is primarily the watch you should look at, not the brand. Sometimes you can get cheap things too cheap. From the pictures here this may be one example. Just a shame that the expensive one may just be too expensive as it is. -
Ignore other versions. If you don't you will either go bananas or broke. This one looks great on it's own. Now lean back and enjoy!!

Alternatively you might give your Black Themes an AR treatment. You will be amazed by the improvement.
