  1. Great pics, interesting message. It certainly demonstrates the shoddy assembly of some of these movements. Many tanks. I have not had quite the problems others have had here, and I am not one for opening my own watches and fix anything myself. To me a service is a very expensive undertaking. The question then remains, should one do it instantly or wait? From my experiences I think I would have wasted a lot of money if I had done it up front to all my 7750es. Most have been OK without one. And am I right to say that this movement has not been damaged by running to this point, and thus could wait to be serviced until the symptoms became too servere?
  2. I would not buy an open heart rep. There are not many tells you can spot from across a room without knowing the Gen, but this is one of them.
  3. Assuming that the OP knows how the GMT hand should work, it is a known issue with the 28800 movements that the GMT function may have issues. I have just sent my GMTIIC with an Asian clone movement back to the dealer because it only moved minutes per hour.
  4. If you can, take more pics of this RC. It is pretty hard to see if it is Gen or not without pics from more angles. Position of pushers? Thickness of case? But if it is a Gen it is very interesting as it really makes it almost impossible to tell the difference to the Rep.
  5. Another great review from Gran. Many thanks!! My impression of this rep is that it looks good on the wrist, but not off it. That is a shame as I certainly know people who would like to see mine up close. What they need to do, is some good engraving. Most punters will note those and not really know the difference to an ETA. Look at the picture of the Gen and the engravings are what is noticeable on the movement. A puny sticker on the rotor really lets the watch down. Also, hallmarking. The rep makers are getting better at that, and here it would be very relevant. For now I will stick to my MBW version. I know noone who would know the placement of the date window, but they could tell that the Cartel movement is not up to PP standards in terms of finish.
  6. I tend to divide the world into sports and dress watches. In my book sports watches have rubber or steel bands and dress watches leather straps. The experience so far is that most sports reps can be made water proof enough to swim with them. Some even are out of the box. A few cannot. I recently noticed that Mary specifically mentioned that an Oris she sells can't be made water proof. I also have a Cartier Pasha Chrono which cannot. But on the plus list I have Rolexes, Breitlings, Hublot, UN, Pateks, Ebel, VC, Graham, Paul Picot, APs and Corum. In my Gym bag I keep a B+R quartz, just in case I am wearing an unsuitable one for the day's battle with water.
  7. If there is any truth to this, I really do agree that the dealer in question should be booted with immediate effect. Any anti-competitive action is seriously bad news for the fora. I know the issue was different, but it is noticeable how the attendance dropped on Repgeek after the scandals with the raffle watch and the watch sold there as well as on Ebay. The members here actually trust each other and the dealers a lot. The fora have to fight very hard to retain that trust and sometimes it may mean that they will have to let go of a member or a dealer. Luckily there are new dealers coming all the time, so we are not dependent on any one single dealer.
  8. In that case, what is all that nonsense on the caseback?????????
  9. Its suffering from the usual China Syndrome on the case : No 0/2000 and on the back: This Oirection Since is is so cheap I wonder if it will ever get sorted. Also I do not get the scripple of the case back. Is that on the Gen as well?
  10. In all it's simplicity, the Rep looks even better than the Gen in my opinion. It's good to hear that Gran's experiences with his tourbi is good, but I will still wait a little before forking out that much money on a Rep.
  11. If you are thinking rep, be careful with this one. They can not all be made waterproof, so you may be left with a lookalike which cannot get wet.....
  12. Where internet business falls behind high street shops (ignoring the rep aspect) is that you cannot see the actual item you are about to buy. On many sites the pictures are poor, so you are left with a vague image of the real thing. Also the real thing often is not that well made. And yes, wrong watches are sent out. The QC pics serve a huge purpose for the purchaser. They also prevent the occational hassle for the dealer of having a dis-satisfied customer and having to deal with returns. Finally it makes the dealers much more picky when selecting watches from the factories, which in turn puts pressure on the factories to improve their quality control. When it is a routine matter, it will cost less for pics or (much better) videos to be made. I think the QC pics are here to stay. They represent a huge improvement in internet sales in general and for reps in particular.
  13. In theory TS will send QC pics, but only if you ask them beforehand. However I recently had a shipment where they promised to do so, but didn't. So great if they do, but don't expect it to happen.
  14. Yes, engravings, not stickers. And engravings on movement as well as rotor. - That would be quire something!
  15. Both dealers are legit. Asian7750 has recently been taken on as apprentice dealer on Repgeek.
  16. I still get the virus warning here. Am I the only one??
  17. This one should be available from all dealers. Just contact them and find out about price. I have one, which I bought with the bracelet. However I much prefer it on a strap, but have no rep clasp to suit it. Unless you are sure of what you want, get the bracelet as well as the clasp at the same time (there is no point getting the strap as that is crap anyway). Good luck.
  18. Unknown here. A quick look suggests that they are very expensive for what they sell. But now that you have placed your order, let us know how you get on. Unfortunately the bulk of dealers out there are nowhere near the standard you will get from the Trusted Dealers here, but some are. If by any chance you have uncovered one, it is worth hearing about.
  19. Take a look at Chopard from Timesshop. Big range, good prices and build quality. Just got one for my GF.
  20. I think that sounds good. We need new dealers to be tested and I would be pleased to hear about your experiences. The forum needs new dealers all the time. If someone is ready to risk it we will all potentially benefit. Only the guy who ventures out into the wild runs a risk as the forum cannot help if the transaction goes wrong. Having said that, the selection on this particular site is at cheap because the watches are very obvious fakes. There are a few OK ones, but I would do a lot of homework before buying any of these. Let's hear how you get on...............ideally with pictures!!!
  21. I believe it is still available and most dealers should be able to get one. I bought mine privately. As to reliability it seems fine. The movement has a very good reputation and mine has not caused issues. Accuracy-wise I cannot tell much. I have never seen any good pictures of a Gen, but on the back it says Edlllon insead of Edition. I made a small pictorial here: http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5677 Hope that helps.
  22. Might be. Just wonder since it happened again today, and only on this site.
  23. Just to be clear: DO NOT BRING YOUR REP TO THE AD. Ever!! This makes the comparison a bit more difficult, but still possible.
  24. Porche Design is an independent company and is not a another car branding exercise. They specialise in design of luxury life style items like running shoes, pens, leather goods and watches. The watchdesign has been going for a long time. They even made a range for IWC:
