  1. I have by accident gained a 22mm black gator strap which is looking for a watchead. Could you provide any inspiration? Ideally with pictures.
  2. From what I read here, you might be better off dealing with Naarika who is able to source from there as well. He is based in Europe and a very easy guy to deal with, which expecially matters if there are any problems. Eurotimez sells their watches as well, but is no longer recommended here. Use the search function, and you will probably find that there is very little gained by buying yourself in Bangkok.
  3. I would ask any of the EU based dealers, even if they do not show the watch. The only on of these I have dealt with has been Nariika who seems to be a great guy. I have the brown version of the same and wrote about it here: http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6471 Good luck!
  4. I am in two minds about this one. It looks really good for the money, but I think my limit is that a watch has to be plausible. So far having a Lange wich claims to be made by IWC has been a deal killer. But from what I can see it no longer says made in Switzerland on the movement, so with a bit of luck the International Watch Co will go as well.
  5. I think MemberX missed another great one in his suggestion, namely the one in his avatar, the IWC Portuguese 1939. It looks great in gold and is amongst the more affordable gold-reps. Not only not too expensive to buy, but it has a reasonable AR, so with only a new strap you are all st to go....
  6. One thing which most reps have not got right is the hallmarking of watches in "precious" metals. That is a shame because the incorrect one can be an instant tell to someone who would not otherwise be familiar with the model range of a particular watch. So here is a good guide on what it should be like: http://poincon.blogspot.com/ I hope my chinese rep-maker freinds will take note!
  7. Very nice website for this watch. It looks fantastic. And the blue stone?? Cartier hallmark. Looks great on other watches in my opinion. It is not bright blue, only under very specific angles. I guess it will be even less noticeable on this one as it sits lower than on the Santos or Pasha.
  8. I have one like this one. Mine was sold to me in a private sale as a WM9 watch. I have not been able to find out anything about this version, so would be interested to hear more about yours. Here is mine: And BTW it is a VERY nice rep :)
  9. Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer Anniversary 160 A small review with pictures. This watch is a replica of a limited edition run of the Marine Chronometer. It was produced in 2006 to commemorate the foundation of the UN factory in 1846. From what I have seen it is even a rather unusual replica, although I doubt that the production run was quite as limited as UN's run of Gens. The main difference to the standard
  10. Unfortunately this was too good to be true. I just received a quote for this one for
  11. I would particularly be interested to know if the back says Titanium as some ot the other Hublots. It would be good if they got that sorted.
  12. My anti-virus is having problems with this site just now. When I click on a topic, it pics up two known infections.
  13. I too have it on the Black Themes. VERY well spent money....
  14. With no second hands and closed case-back, this one would be the perfect quartz watch...
  15. Thanks for this writeup! I kinda like this one, and have no problem with the subidals since they make perfect sense on the rep. Who will care if it runs @6 or @9 as long as the dial looks right? I would be more interested in knowing about the lume as this watch seems to be all about lume. Is is standard rep-lume or have they for once improved on the usual standard? And if not, is it possible to re-lume the bezel (I guess the dial would be re-lumable...)
  16. Not only did it inspire me to buy it. I have also written a review in which I refer to your great thread here. Take a look: http://repgeek.com/showthread.php?p=1243643#post1243643
  17. I received this one from Mary @ Watchinternational and all I have done is to change the strap to a real alligator. The watch must qualify as one of the true bargains in the Rep-world. Compare it to the excessive amount one will need to spend to get a workable Portuguese Chrono, and this one is comes across as an infinitely better option. As to accuracy to Gen, I am not sure. I have not been able to track down any good pictures and I have not seen one in reality. But on its own it is a really attractive watch. Now to the pictures: The Front. On most of my pictures it seems white, but when you wear it, it has a more yellow/creamy colour. I have tried to capture that: The Back. I think there are several versions with various degrees of decoration. This one has none: A few nice deep engravings on the case: The Crown. Some detail but not completely crisp: The clasp. As good as it gets: I changed the strap for a real alligator. The rep-strap is plastic and terrible. This strap cost as much as the watch: And finally a couple of wristies:
  18. I think not to me. The issue is in the can-live-with category and the watch is not one that comes across as a hugely valuable one (like, say, APROO). So I will keep it as it is and probably use it a bit more now that the weather is picking up...
  19. Straps are really hard to capture on a picture. However I would be really interested to see a comparison between the Gen and other options such as HKTan or The Watch boys. Pictures as well as description of differences would be great. There is no doubt that the straps provided by the rep-factories with the watches are crap. But the other ones are not. So what are the differences, and to what extent are the price differences justified?
  20. Following a review by Pix on RWI I bought a Picot in a private sale. My impression of the watch is that it is quite good fun, the movement is great and overall it is very well built. I particularly find the yellow strap a great occational alternative to the usual dive watches. Although it had a pretty good lume when I received it, it has been re-lumed by Domi. But in contrast to Pix I have not had it AR treated as I actually really like the blue tint which I think works really well with the yellow. Domi has also water proofed it, so I can swim with it. The main problem with the watch is the clasp which has a tendency to jump open. Not sure if I can do much about it, so I live with it for now. On to the pictures: Front: Back: Crown and pushers: Clasp: The problematic opening mechanism: Wristie: Wristie with AR showing: In all a great watch, a well made rep and good fun. Great for variety.
  21. Thanks, Lani. That is really useful info. I have no problem with the stitching being tghe same colour as the skin. The stitching also changes colour when using polish. I guess that the big advantage in using your method is the durabiloity of the process. However for the very subtle change in nuance I was looking for I am not totally unhappy with the polish method. I may try leather paint on another strap though. Just to do it.
  22. Thanks for this. I don't know why I thought alligator would be so special, and your response gave be an idea: How about plain shoe polish... So I gave it a bit of brown to dampen the blue in the purple and it has come out really nice. :)
  23. Just looked again. Now the red/black is down to $ 1,513!!
  24. Just received a strap which in the internet picture looked redish, but in reality turned out purple. I don't really like the thing I received, but also am not sure if I can or should return it. Is there any way to colour an alligator strap?
  25. This link changes on a daily basis. Today it is a red bezel/black dial 1911 for $2,400. That at least is not repped, so perpaps more interesting as a gen. In the meantime the Panda is back up to $2,700.
