  1. Great comparison of a very nice watch. Thanks. A couple of comments: Dial: From what I can see, the hours are painted in a very thick layer on your version, whereas that seems not to be the case on the Cartel version referred to above. Conversely the datewheel is not very well placed on your version.Care to comment? Movement/rotor: The Gen movement is mostly covered by plates. That should be simple to replicate. And the rotor is engraved. From your pics it looks like like yours is stickered. That is a shame. I think the rep makers should take a look at the Pam reps to see that it is very posssible to make a great looking back of the watch without spending huge amounts on copying the movement.
  2. That's right. The movement will be a tell. However to most people the bigger tell is the stickered rotor. It seems to be a very good rep, but to make it great it needs engravings on the rotor and movement. A proper PP movement is not very likely on a rep as reps operate with a limited range of movement makers.
  3. Just saw the same one on Trusty's site for.............................................................................. $788!!!!!!
  4. I have to agree here. Concepta is clearly a dealer to be trusted. Why is he not a trusted dealer with a section like any other dealer?
  5. The only thing that looks odd is the Number 000 on the dial. Clearly that is a "Chinoiserie".
  6. Most of the hints given would benerif from some more detail, but interesting nonetheless. The gold hallmark tell mentioned at the end is a common one to the rep world. In far too many cases the rep makers get this totally wrong. Recently I have seen the Blue Ceramic Submariner without hallmarks. This is supposed to be a white gold watch. Conversely I have seen a Green Ceramic Submariner with hallmarks. This is supposed to be in steel. In far too many Gold reps there are no hallmarks at all. That is a shame as it is the sort of thing anyone can see if they know nothing about the specific watch but a little about precious metals.
  7. Nice one!! Shame I am on the wrong side of the Atlantic.........Good luck to someone over there. But it really is too far to swim just for that.....
  8. Unfortunately I cannot answer your question with specific information. But in most cases you get what you pay for. In the case of a Patek rep it is the detailing such as the brushing of the bezel, the lume, the depth of the pattern in the dial which make the difference. Even if you get the top end you are talking a very cheap version of a pretty expensive watch. My guess is that you will do well paying a bit extra to get the higher quality detailing. That being said, I simply do not understand how Patek can charge so much for this watch. Other than the name it really does not look or feel the price to me....
  9. Freind of mine has a Skyhawk with water on the inside of the crystal. Don't know the circumstances, but he does have a pool............
  10. You may well be right. But without such members sticking their necks out, new TDs will not be found. And we need new blood all the time. In this case the member is well aware of the risk. This purchase costs us nothing. But if by a fantastic piece of luck all works well, the whole forum would benefit.
  11. Jeeeezzz..........hope you feel better now.
  12. Never bought from Ken, and never bought other reps than watches. But I am amazed by the extent to which he tried to solve this issue. And I am sorry it did not work out. Unfortunately there will always be individuals who cause trouble. From their perspective they are absolutely right and everyone else is wrong. In that case all you can do is to ban and move on. Hope this will be the end of that story.
  13. Was there any mentioning of blacklisting before the PP dispute was mentioned?
  14. Might well be a better design. I don't know. But is QC any different?
  15. Very sorry to hear this. I take it that the cliamant in question is not a member on any of the fora, but still.

    3714-82

Oh, that looks good. I have the 3714-01 and must admit that this one looks nicer. Looking forward to seeing the final result.
  17. To me, this is gold, but not bling. It looks really good. Congratulations.
  18. I would not take this site seriously. It quotes the Telegraph, which I do follow. It has not taken this story up at all. If there was something they certainly wood. Let's not spread conspiracy theories here.
  19. Many, many thanks. Great stuff. If I read you correctly though it almost makes the Daytona a worse movement than the Portu?? Somehow I seem to have heard more bad news the other way round.
  20. This attitude is not very freindly, welcoming or helpful. There is no need for you to respond to any posts here. If you do not feel like providing a constructive answer, just move on. Answering like this puts new members off for no good reason. When you do have something constructive to say, that is great. And thankfully you often do. But this time you are plain wrong.
  21. Total agreement. But unfortunately fanatisism, fundamentalism and hate of foreigners are rampant all around us. The sad thing is that the people who preach all that lay the foundation for others to commit their ugly crimes. I hope this particular crime will bring about more tolerance amongst those who think their message of hate and rejection is harmless and just.
  22. Can't add much to the comments above. These pics are excellent and the watch looks like a very high quality rep. Congrats!!
  23. Very sad to hear this!! But I would wait to point fingers until the police has said more. Now Norway would be best off acting on facts and not speculation.
  24. This is all getting very interesting. For the first time - and after myriads of postings - I am beginning to understand what is going on with the transfer gearing. Having seen that the Daytona movement is not the same as the Portu movement, I have a couple of questions: Is there also a new and improved version of the Daytona movement? And where does the Ingi @6 movement fit in? Is that a third version?
  25. I admit not to know anything about movements, but perhaps this is my chance. On the top picture I can follow the transfer from 3 to 6. On the bottom I can see nothing at 3 and nothing at 6. What am I missing?
