  2. Good advice here. It is not one that I would recommend either for a noob. Basically the options for a reliable movement out of the box are: Older model with secs @ 9 Faux chronos or Quartz. For newer models, make sure to read up before you buy anything.
  3. Zenith moonphase chrono (Fantasy, but a good one):
  4. Why would production be limited if there is demand? Looks to me like an item which could be made avaialble in quantity and sold profitably over time.
  5. Not that long ago the same WE had the Nomus Tetra - except it was badged as a Patek!!! At the time I posed a question on the WE forum to hear if a Nomus version would come out, but the whole thread has gone now, as has the model on their website.
  6. Interesting stuff. Any details or just suspence at this stage....??? (VERY curious.... )
  7. +1 Ask the dealer. As to 21J movements there are a number out there. My own experiences have mostly been good. The most negative one has been with a Milgauss where the seconds hand in certain positions jumps several seconds. It looks terrible. The slower sweep of a 21J movement is an issue when very close. You will notice, but others not. Otherwise the main complication I have encountered is setting time and date which can be a bit stiff. Another Rolex 21J I have is a DDII which has a very nice sweep and no issues with date/time setting.
  8. I like both of them. What do you intend to do to the Chrono?
  9. They may not have known the value of this one. The location and time alone make it pretty likely that you would be able to get a decent watch from any victim. Getting this particular one may actually not be that great for the muggers as it will be far more difficult to sell than a standard Rollie. A female freind of mine was held up at knife point in broad daylight on my doorstep by two guys assisted by a third in a car. She had been followed from the City (financial district) was well dressed and in a nice car. They just picked on her due to general apperance and location. A witness got the registration no of the get-away car, and it turned out that the gang routinely would identify a well dressed person, follow the victim home and do the attack there. Still, this sort of thing is very unusual in London and personally I would feel pretty safe walking the streets at night there.
  10. LOL Some people take life VERY seriously I guess. Hope you survive the insult. Personally I am flattered.
  11. Proof that it is easier to buy a crap watch is you are loaded than buying a quality one when you are poor...
  12. Well, then. That's where they all went wrong!!
  13. I read somewhere that the Gen was pulled from the market following a patent issue relating to the bezel functions. The speculation is that these watches are remains from that production.
  14. The one modification I did was to AR treat the crystal. It made a huge difference and improved the watch no end.
  15. These pics look really great. And generally the watch is one great looking one. A watch like this one is likely to be shown to other people. It is very eye catching. HOWEVER... Nice as it looks, I would not recommend it as it fails on plausibility. No rep should make claims to have functions which are not there. This one claims to be a minute repeater, but is not. Such claims can be spotted by anyone who know nothing about the particular model. Hopefully a better version will emerge one day without that claim on the back.
  16. I am wondering if we will see the Tetra rep as well. Some time ago Watcheden had it ................ but branded as Patek Philippe!!!!!!
  17. Definitely!! I saw the Gen in Canterbury. It is really nice and compared to the other watches for sale in the same place (mainly Rolex), very good value. This may be the problem for the Rep. It will have to be very good to make it attractive compared to the Gen alternative.
  18. People who don't know me would never assume that I wear fakes. I am simply too old and they do not know that I will wear another one thenext day. People who do know me would never assume that I wear Gens. They know that I am collecting like mad, and they do not know the few Gens I do have. It is interesting how people react in general. Most of my freinds are pretty horrified that I wear reps, but secretly a few have asked me to source one for them.
  19. Interesting that we are left to guess. Looks very close. Does it feel close as well?
  20. That was a fast slide downhill. From an informative initial posting to a series of very poor responses by the OP. Keep in mind that this forum is for general information. When there are different dealers and models it is well worth it for the members to read about options. The fact that you are pleased with yours should not translate into a general recommendation to purchase if there are better options around. Pointing that out is in no way insulting. Using words like "Idiot" is. If you cannot accept constructive critisism and sober discussion, perhaps you are in the wrong place.
  21. In Repdom that may not be the case. Naturally the factory which made these parts never made them. So clearly someone else did a 1:1. Yes? That's assuming it is made from surplus production. We shall never know for sure.
