  1. I think somewhat between 1 and 5%.
  2. I think it is different between topics opened "just" to raise a discussion, and informative posts like answers to specific questions, or tutorials. I think that Toadtorrent was referring to the second type of posts when he started this topic. And I thank him for doing it. What I can say is that, when I answer a specific question, a reply -- even a simple "tank you" -- is appreciated. A "thanks" rating is appreciated as well, but especially from members who are not the one originally asking the question. I also have to say there has been a time, a few months ago, when courtesy was looking almost forgotten, but now things are going much better. On my personal book, anyway, those who don't even care to leave a thanks when I answer their question(s) are going to get no new answers from me on possible next questions...
  3. Just to let anyone interested that I got assuration by Davidsen that he is going to fix both the minute and GMT hand issues. Also that the 089 caseback that he used in his photobook was just for early display purpose, it is not the same that he is going to mount on his watches for sale that will be very accurate. According to this all, we should have almost perfect 088 & 089 soon...
  4. Yes it happens. And it may become even worse, as you may at first feel the straps as less expensive than watches. Then, after a while you realize that you spent more on straps than on watches (we speak about reps here in the end). Put them together, and you will have a killer combo (as many members call it on replying to other members' pics posts).
  5. Awesome tutorial on a very desired and very deserved topic, thanks! An added, special thanks for finding the 4813 on cousinsuk! :thumbsupsmileyanim: For those who love PAMs, I'll just add that the Asian 21J with small seconds @9 is the DG3809.
  6. I can't believe I missed the whole thing. It happened the week I was abroad. I now read of auctions and a fund raiser, but I seem unable to find it. I want to jump in, please can anyone point me to how to? POTR, my most heartfelt wishes to you.
  7. Here are a few pics of the effect of double AR coat on a crowded PAM dial like the 147.
  8. A possible option (very unsure about it) might be filing the dial rather than machining the case. By making the dial diameter slightly smaller, the dial might go beyond the lip. Then the movement, not the dial, would touch the lip, and the movement would go deeper into the case. As a side effect this would reduce the rehaut a bit. But as a base model does not have cyclops or additional hands you should not face room problems. Filing a sandwhich dial might prove a tricky task, though. Just a thought.
  9. Missing you, Vicky.

  10. You are welcome, Paul. Should you want any advice on a 104, please feel free to ask. Just be advised that PAMs are highly addictive... Best, :sss:
  11. Yes, I suppose that The Zigmeister or other relumers may fix the short mark @9. Replacing the small seconds hand should be an even more trivial matter.
  12. I see your point, turbo. As a matter of fact, the "crystal disappearing" effect by double AR coating seems achieved on flat crystals only, not on highly domed crystals like the 127/203/217. As I told in my post there, I love residual reflections from the dome. But I agree that they would better if they were colorless rather than blueish. Still, that's it. The only thing I can add is that in those pics I did my best to evoke reflections. In reality, and on normal wrist wearing, 99.9% of the dial looks perfectly clear through the now reflectionless crystal, and it greadly adds to the overall watch look, IMHO. Thanks for your opinion!
  13. Do you really think you can tell what everybody thinks? Aahhh... I suppose the world looks reassuring that simple... Now I understand why I ignore this.
  14. At that price, and at no risk to get called out, you might consider it. It is a nice looking watch in the end, the bracelet makes for a good part of the price, and you can get a taste of the look and feel of a 40mm PAM before moving to something better. Because, you know, this is not going to be your only PAM, don't you?...
  15. Placement of the small second subdial is incorrect -- it should be a little more towards the center of the dial. Placement of the date window is incorrect -- it should be a little more towards the border of the dial. As a consequence of it, the marker @ 3hr is too long. All markers and numbers are too bold. Date font is too thin. Date magnification is too weak. Hands look black instead of SS. Crown is too thick. But the overal look is not so bad, though. In my opinion, you might consider buying it as long as you are not concerned with accuracy, and price is around 100 USD. Be advised that the high end 050 rep (7750 movement & about $300 price) is one of the best out-of-the-box reps you can get. This is a completely different beast.
  16. I fly around in the skies and I can assure you that you are absolutely correct: your idea of right and Dani's idea of right are both equally meaningless. As mine and everyone else's, btw.
  17. Curious about the look of Chieftang's double AR coating on a domed (Fiddy-like) crystal? Did you ever wonder what double AR is worth on a PAM, but you never had the courage to ask, in consideration of the gens being single-side AR coated? Here are a few pics to you.
  18. Great find, joe! Thanks!! Uhm, the problem seems to arise from the PR hand having a wider range than that on gen PAMs. So, it's up to you to choose whether you prefer it going below 0 or over 40 (if you remove the PR hand and place it back a little rotated counterclockwise, you will have it going below 0 when the watch is near out of charge, instead of having it going over 40 when it is fully charged). Personally, I find it more annoying to go over 40, as on usual wrist wearing it is never supposed to go completely out of charge i.e. below 0. So I replaced the PR hand the way I told.
  19. Unfortunately, I did not replace the case. Both ajoesmith and I have been running an extensive search on what case may fit, but we found none yet. It look as another holy grail of reps. The movement in the 090 (as well as in any PAM rep with PR @ 5hr) is not the so called Asian auto 21J, it is the Seagull ST 2530 (lately renamed TY 2530), or a copy of it. That is a monster movement more than 7mm thick. I am pretty confident that if the chinese factory making the 090 case woud make a modified version of it without the date pusher, they would sell it quite well.
  20. A few speculations of mine about the reasons for crystal exploding.
  21. It applies to any 47mm PAM with domed crystal, especially if sapphire, and with exception for DSN's.
