  1. If you wear the watch not very close to your hand, but a little further up your forearm, it will look less oversize. BTW, on the omega and the fiddy: the omega looks really oversized, go with the Fiddy!
  2. Thanks all for your kind words! Thanks for the suggestion... Would you give me some more detail on how it is done? I am no great Excel user. I had a look but was unable to find contradictions on the said models. Please can you point out them?
  3. Ok: to anyone who cares, the latest version of my PAM reference table. Many bugs fixed. 2006 and 2007 models added. As always, everyone is welcome for mods and corrections. Especially thanks to wheaton26 for providing some OP and BB numbers. Edit: now v3.01 with a nice improvement suggested by wheaton26 again -- upper panels (legends) are made fixed so that they stay visible when you scroll through the rows. Edit Dec 6th 2007: table removed due to this thread. My apologies to anyone who might need it.
  4. I have a 6.7'' wrist and 115/75 is the longest I can go.
  5. I agree with your choice. Best luck!
  6. KEEP OUT FROM KINETICS! I loved them, I got 4 of them, they all died after 4 years. Then I discovered that the kinetic accumulator is supposed to get replaced every 4 years (3 yrs on lady models). At about 1/5 of the original price of the whole watch. So, as also quartz batteries (a few dollars) last 4 years as well, what's the point in getting a kinetic?
  7. I was successful in fitting it on a 029, non-jimmy case. Did you remove the teflon gasket out of the jimmy bezel?
  8. That is a question one should ask the dealers directly, I have no answer to it. Here I may guess two answers, they do not exclude each other: 1. The swan neck add-on requires added work by the manufacturer and we pay for that. 2. Because of the offer/demand law.
  9. Polo147ax, JFYI, Silix has a decent 027 @ $80.
  10. Good ol' Jimmyzfu: http://cgi.ebay.it/Aftermarket-Bezel-repla...1QQcmdZViewItem It does not fit perfectly on all cases, but a little glue and all will be ok.
  11. Compliments on your minimal investment!
  12. As far as I know yes, the PAM swan neck regulator is a mod performed by OP, it does not come with native ETA movements. Therefore, all swan neck movements we can see on reps should actually be repped movements and come from Asian factories.
  13. Definitely the stem should not came out unless you unscrew a little the screw that keeps it firm. It seems like that little screw threads went ruined and the screw is always unscrewed (even if it looks as you can only tighten it -- can you tighten it endlessly?). And yes, that may prevent the stem from properly engaging the keyless work. I'm afraid it is a tricky issue to fix so to qualify the watch for a replacement from the dealer.
  14. Please let us (me) know the outcome of this. Thanks!
  15. That does not look as a PAM-specific issue, and PAM movements are no special. I would have your friend have a look at the watch before sending it out. Yes, maybe something went mess with the stem or the keyless work (quite strange though, given the added protection by the PAM crown guard).
  16. Well, some time ago I made quite a bit of search about the discoloring properties of light, and I got quite a bit frustrated. Looking at the sunlight effects on old newspapers left on the ground one would argue that the light discoloring effect is more effective on blue colors than red colors. This should discolor black into sort of brown. Or, at least, this was what I was thinking. Then I found a brown dial on sale and gave up with the whole thing.
  17. I tried all sorts of chemical oxidizers, and they all ruined the dial. I just missed to try very diluted bleach and very diluted H2O2, but I doubt they are safe even when diluted. I am afraid that only physical means (i.e. prolonged exposure to light) may be safe. But, as you said, this could take ages (perhaps a little lesser with UV light?). Oh well, I think I'd better go and place my dial right under this bright sun...
  18. You see the steel. It just happened to me. But as long as you just don't scratch it, the PVD will last longer than you.
  19. Good to know. Thanks for the info. No coffee too thick to drink!
  20. Very nice! Just, a pic able to capture the gold color of hands would be a nice add-on too.
  21. In this case a 050 and a 104 would make for a good starting point.
