using my loupe and just a straight mm stick (on my spring bar tool) .. i read : 6.5 x 5.5 .... which would be a large size .. in the genuine sizes.. can someone verify this.. ??

I need exact measurements... if someone has calipers.. I'm getting ready to put in an order for genuine mags.. but they come in 3 sizes... 4 actually and (cost for me) 2.50 usd... 4.00 for the xtra large but I don't think that one apply's.. quickly please.. Terry if you are reading this need an assist with the exact mm size legnth x width

See seperate sign up sheet... OK.. here's the deal.. I checked with a vendor on Ebay.. I have purchased after market inserts from him before as I imagine many here have.. They have a aftermarket Rolex Crystal with advertised 2.5 x mag.. first I inquired if it was garaunteed to be 2.5 x.. answer was ..yes I inquired if he is capable of selling the mags seperately .. answer... NO I am awaiting a reply for a group purchase.. and the quantity involved.. I doubt he would agree to this.. but the Q was put out there.. The mags would still have to be removed from the crystal .. he claims yes it can be removed as the genuine.. Price is 24.90 usd with 7.00 shipping (CONUS) .. i would imagine more for outside the US.. and in the past he has said that the 7.00 is for "every item" regarless if they are bought and shipped together.. never disputed this for obvious reasons.. The Advantage of having a spare to send to Chief for the next AR run is several: 1. you still wear your timepiece until you are ready to do the deed with the AR'd mag 2. if you screw up..(not that you will) no harm no foul.. You are out some $$ .. but still have your original crystal 3. this mag should be more like the genuine as the rep mag is a little too thick on the edges 4. Take as long as you want to either do what you already know how to do .. or "learn" how to .. we can pin a tutorial.. I plan to "practice" on another crystal that I removed the mag from before attempting the actual GMTIIc we have lot's of time before chiefs next coating run.. so if we plan well ahead .. this should be like learning something new.. but as a group it may be easier than attempting it alone.. What say YOU ???? Other thoughts are for individuals to assist the members by removing the mags and sending them just that piece ... if we work together we can accomplish alot So to verify before we all jump in the water.. I will be willing to order one and say .. yay or nay .. to the actual mag of 2.5..

I've been noticing that the 5 to 6 car households have been cut back .. but they are having the hardest time selling that V-8 4.4 liter Ram.. no takers.. electric cars are seen more now.. but I believe America has been born and breed on the muscle car and trucks ... they shaped our mind set.. so yes.. it will be a while to adjust.. if ever. hope to read more from EU members when I get home..

This is all very true.. in fact the American Automobile "shaped" America and it's lifestyle.. the Auto industry has developed america into what it is... they have "run" the country for generations .. there were better auto patents ..the Big Boy's in Detroit have molded and conditioned us for one purpose .. more cars.. bigger cars ... per family.. So the infrastructure for public trans. is lacking .. big time... it's like they raised the prices without the readiness of the trans system.. a$$ backwards.. Soon America will be in sync with the rest of the world.. but without the "tools" the rest of the world has... yet..

Well after the "voting" fiasco in Florida.. the past administration has managed to loot Our country very well.. with strong ties to the Middle East .. that goes back in the Bush Family 2 generations ago with the Bank that his Great Grandfather started... etc. etc. We believe that the Oil companies looked at what the rest of the world pays .. and we have gotten away with relatively affordable gas prices for generations... but you gotta think that the Auto Juggernauts .,.. had something to do with this as the cars kept getting bigger and bigger.. but to adjust overnight is the challenge.. The seniors here are the ones that are taking it in the "pants" ... they buy their homes and properties for 40k in the 60's .. it is now appraised at 2.5 mil. and they pay their property tax based on current market value.. sheesh .. they are on a "fixed" income and will only live there for the remainder of their life.. just dosen't seem fair for them to have to pay tax on someplace that is not bringing them in any equity .. until they die.. There is a rail system being built.. but that won't be for the next 10 or 15 years.... It was proposed years ago by a very right wing.. prominent attorney.. the only way for Hawaii to thrive is for all the sugarcane fields to be turned into Marajuana crops... .. he was serious..

I don't know about the rest of the planet (USA) anyway... but In Hawaii we have seen our lives changed literally .. in what seems like overnight the week that the price of gas really started to escalate .. everything that had a price on it followed suit .. no other way into the islands except by container or air.. everything in the markets jumped 50 cents to a dollar .. there was no gradual increase here...so we adjust as alway's .. But what was really surreal was this weekend .. the costal and shoreline roads along Waimanalo ... going around to Makapuu (where Sea Life Park is) is usually crowded with vehicles out for the weekend beach cruise ... this is the first time that on a Saturday the roads were empty.... I called a buddy on the other side of the island from where I was and he said the same was previlant on the leeward side... no one can afford to burn the high priced fuel anymore.. Now granted .. Americans are the most glutenous gas guzzlers on the planet..... but that was our lifestyle...."Crusin"... It seems that those day's are a thing of the past.. and may very well be refferred to as "back in the day" when talking about a ride around the island...

You CANNOT ar the crystal with the mag intact .... youwould have to remove the mag should you want to ar the crystal..the heat would melt the UV glue holding the mag in place for one... among other factors.. And I am really doing the coating on the mag ont so "no one will suspect" that this is not a genuine.. but more because this is such a "prize" of a replication to the genuine ... as shief say's when I look at it and there is the flaw of the mag.. I get distracted The last ditch" alternative would be to buy a asian movement rolex rep that has the correct mag.. and cannabalize that ... and that would actually work in your favour... the GMTIIc mag is a little to high and not tapered at the edges like the genuine .. but the other mags on the reps are identical to the GMTIIc So the options are there ... weather they are to your liking is questionable... bottom line .... somethings have to be done in proper order without the shortcuts ...no way around this one.. remove mag - chieftang - replace mag .....

Thanks Spooky.. that is invaluable info.. looks like the dial comes out from the top ?? the opening appears too small on the case back to allow the dial to drop.. or are hands removed first then the dial ?? looks challenging.. yes... that is a fantastic looking dial IMO .. can't wait to see it with chiefs AR.. that is going to be a real "Looker" fo sure !!!

The only thing that concerns me .. and I'm no lume expert.. there dosen't appear to be much "room" for additional lume without distorting the proportions of the markers...

googled this.. be aware.. loaded with viruses .. over 100 if my security system is correct.. desk top went nuts for a while.. generic viruses .. don't know .. that's what the security scan stated .. and discarded the viruses..

I went back and forth with the AR issue on the MB silver ... but I decided the AR will only bring the silver dial out ... pure.. as far as the HBB PVD/SS ......... this is the insanity of the Rep hobby.. NO ?? Man yearns for what we cannot have...

Hey Tom !!!.. I have the same silver faced dial.. but it really .. really needs Chiefs AR.. I had some other priority crystals this time around .. but first chance I get it is going IN for the "coat" .. one of the nicest "silver" dials I have IMO...

there are different size screws(legnth) on the bezel.. so you may want to mark a schematic (notes) as to which screw belongs where.. and you will need the H-screw driver or you may damage the aesthetics of the heads ..

Hey T... As everyone is already aware of it's the Mod kit that is always the determining factor.. the ultimate would be to have the mod kit looked at by .. "who else"... but the point of this thread was not to distinguish collectors... but rather to make the members 'aware" of the situation and let them decide for themselves what to do.. mainly, the New members who have not yet built a rapour with any one collector and would be hard pressed to find an alternative to sending the watch back for repair or exchange.. as this is not your 200 usd rep. I'm sure all the forums collectors would honour their responsibilities ... but let the members be the deciding factor in their choice given all the info.. Archi .. you are correct on all counts.. my point .... is not to persuade anyone to buy or not to buy .. that should be the choice solely of the person that is taking out his/her wallet.. but given the discussion and debate and "quick fix" to the Date window... i believe we have a right and responsibility to pass this info on to the rest of the members so that they may decide for themselves.. If I trust the maker that is producing the modded window.. then I would continue to purchase from him as long as he gives me his word that it's business as usual ... I am having the mag Ar'd on the GMTIIc.. and serviced and this is a relatively new rep .. yes.. need to be certain that they are .. 2.5.. browse Ebay.. some of the saphire tropics are about 25 to 45 usd.... worth it to me to use for the mag only .. just make sure they are not the pexi crystals.. and not ladies models.. ... Edit to add: @freddy... all I have to say is:.. how quickly can you remove your rolex (with all sense of ugency).... be it Genuine or replica if U saw her approaching ??

Agree 100% Chief.. remember when the GMTIIc first arrived members were saying it's so good they don't mind the lack of AR in the mag as a flaw . and there were those of us who said it's just a matter of time? .. that lasted 1 week.... not even .. as everytime I looked at the piece etc. etc. ...like you said "distracted" And IMO.. your Ar will look better than the genuine... Edit to add: it may appear to have a whole in the crystal with your AR.. come to think of it..
