  1. Am I wrong to snicker over that?
  2. Casual Friday means casual NATO on my LLD:
  3. Saw this tonight. Liked it, but not as much as the first one. Anyway... ***SPOILER SPACE--In case you don't want to know even the most inconsequential bits of the movie*** There's a scene in which Stark's getting dressed for an event and is being helped by his new assistant. She asks him which of his watches he wants to wear. He says something like, "Brown strap, gold face... Bring them over here." WISs in the audience salivate like Pavlov's dogs at the sight of Scarlett Johansson carrying a large, wooden watch case over to RDJ. Hell, this is multi-billionaire Tony Stark's watch collection we're about to see! So they exchange some glances, a few double-entendres, then RDJ says, "I'll take the Jaeger." Cut to the next scene. WE NEVER GET TO SEE HIS WATCHES! YOU SUCK, JON FAVREAU!!! There's another scene where Stark pays a roadside strawberry vendor with a watch, but there's no close-up. I read that JLC placed an AMVOX3 Tourbillion in Iron Man 2, but I wager they got more bang for their buck with the Batman Forever Reverso. Good movie, but big disappointment for watch fans!
  4. Congratulations to whoever picked it up for $869.99!
  5. Couldn't sleep last night. Made things worse by deciding to take a series of shots of the 6263:
  6. Orange you glad you bought new hands? If this is what you consider "secondary", I can't even begin to guess what your primary project could be...
  7. Great watch with a very nice dial!
  8. As far as specific watches being associated with individuals, I'd wager that a good chunk of Chase-Durers were sold because of Michael Westen! The soon-to-be-put-out-of-its-misery '24' has been Doxa central for several seasons, but I don't think the brand has really made the most of its ties to Jack Bauer.
  9. Actually, those are pretty good thread ideas...
  10. Beautiful dial! I look forward to seeing the finished 6239!
  11. Sigh... It's entirely up to you, of course, but please consider finding a donor other than that Carrera. I have to believe there are still ugly or unremarkable VJ72 chronographs out there. Spare the Heuer!
  12. I choose Oyster. Even in its old 7031 guise, I would have voted for the bracelet. Of course, you'll have to ask again when you get the new dial!
  13. Not really my cup of tea, but I would like to suggest they add OJ DNA and Clinton DNA watches to their collection.
  14. That's a price range I can afford, if I start saving! Those bastards...
  15. I really enjoyed that! Thanks for taking the time to take them apart!
  16. Beautiful! They were nuts to leave the 6 o'clock cyclops off the new Chrono!
  17. The car is a 906, which is one of my all-time favorite Porsches. (I think a 904 would have been a better match to the watch, though.) Joerg, has the price of the Chrono been confirmed?
  18. Same watch shows up on watch-finder.co.uk. Assuming I had GBP 20,000 lying around, I don't think I'd pay that much for a 6542 sans Bakelite bezel.
  19. Always impressive, jmb. I love reading about these projects of yours. "Look around. Can you form some sort of rudimentary lathe?"
  20. You're on a Tudor tear, ChiMan! Just beautiful!
  21. To be honest, I have little interest in wearing the PloProf, be it the reissue or the original. However, I do appreciate it for its significance in Omega history, and I would gladly pay a few hundred dollars for a good rep, even if it's just something I end up looking at every now and then. Personally, I wish they'd take another crack at the old Seamaster 300!
  22. What bugs me about the new Explorer is something that Mendota on RG pointed out: The hands are too short! Since the beginning of time (or maybe the mid-50s) the Explorer's hour hand should just about touch the tip of the triangle at 12, while the minute hand should just about reach the minute marks. The hour and minute hands on the 2010 Explorer look as if they were transplanted from the previous model.
  23. This better not be a May Fool's prank!
