  1. Nice dial, if you can ignore the 72-minute hour!
  2. I'm not sure at all, and that blue does seem a bit too brilliant! I'm still a beginner when it comes to vintage Seiko, so I much appreciate any tips you might have. I'm looking to get a nice KS or GS (preferably one with a 36000 bps movement) without breaking the bank.
  3. An addendum to Valty's great comparison, and also the one he made last year. Here are three flavors of DW cases, all unmodified. From left to right: DW 6263 (c.2009), DW 6263 (2011), DW 6239 (2011) Note: -The older 6263's flanks are about 0.2mm thinner at the middle. -Smaller indents for the 6239. -Newer 6263's indents touch the upper edge of the mid-case. In this respect, it's more accurate to the gen than the older case. -Newer 6263 has more accurate pushers. -Yes, I know steel bezels should be 6265s, but this case is engraved as a 6263 and DW owes me some acrylic bezels (among many, many other things).
  4. It's hard to beat a basic dressy design in blue. I was actually looking to win this King Seiko last week, but they're more expensive than you think. More expensive than I expected, at least:
  5. Jeff Bridges = Donerix? Yeah, well, you know... That's just like, uh, your opinion, man.
  6. All it takes is a couple of motivated buyers... That price verges on Valjoux 72 territory. You shouldn't be paying more than $200-300 for a good 7734 movement.
  7. Damn commies! I'll never read a Donerix post the same way again, now that I know he's after my precious bodily fluids!
  8. Yeah! You could've bought a 23" color TV for that much!
  9. Streammaster 300* *(Sounds like a urinary aid.)
  10. Valty, see this listing: http://www.watchnut.com/rolexdatejust16000.html
  11. Spectacular comparison, Valty! Phong is the clear 6263 winner, for many reasons. I mentioned in an earlier thread that the Phong 6263 on the JAW website comparison didn't look very good to me. This case in your pictures looks much better. Freddy: DW's last batch of cases featured tight countersinking for pump pushers that was substantially different from the wide indents on his 6263/6265s. Based on what I saw on the JAW website, I had believed that Phong got this detail wrong on his 6239 case (what I see are pump-pushers set in screw-down-size indents), but maybe I need to see some newer photos.
  12. One night in Bangkok, you don't get your Oyster?
  13. Seller is Jacek, watch is original*, and utterly gorgeous. *(Aside from the lume, which looks touched up or redone.)
  14. I was there over one weekend. I ordered a 1680 on Friday, and it was ready on Saturday.
  15. I don't know. Sometimes when he works on my reps, it's as if he sees a "Git-R-Dun" tattoo on my forehead and throws caution to the winds. Perversely, it's the gen parts that suffer. Follow-up question to janeto72 and cib0rgman: Any comment on rsh's thread on RWI, as linked by alligoat?
  16. I'd read about your efforts prior to starting this thread, and, in fact, one of my remarks referred to them: "When I read about people working their thumbs around the circumference of the insert, are they doing this while the bezel is already mounted?" The thing with my Sub is that the gen insert will snap on perfectly when the bezel is off the case. Once the bezel is pressed on, the insert pops off. So, are you fitting your insert after you've mounted the bezel, or while it's off the watch? Could you share some of your measurements? I would like to confirm that the problem is my insert, and not my TC Sub.
  17. sneed12: Thanks for your kind offer. I'd take you up on it, but I get an error message when I try to send you a PM.
  18. Bizarro crown and pushers. Wrong numbers on the dial. Pass.
  19. Urgh... Here comes the heartbreak. I left the Sub and the insert with my watchsmith today with the instructions to make them fit. I returned to find that he'd taken a not insignificant bit of metal off the inner edge of the gen insert. Too upset with myself to even search for the banging-head-on-the-wall emoticon...
  20. Eunomians: Awesome! I've long wanted to join the Bund club, but I keep holding out for that elusive Junghans... Longines for Thursday:
  21. Me! Me! I may be changing my mind and joining modelizer's class action. I previously stated that I'd been lucky with both DW handsets I'd received i.e. paint was removed to reveal steel underneath. Well, I just received the hands that I'd sent away to be worked on. The centers of the DW subdial hands are partly yellowed. Curiously, the shortened Yuki minute hand is also showing a bit of yellow on the tip. Nuts.
  22. Like a stick dragged across the bars of my cage!
  23. My source is unimpeachable (and a few posts up the page, actually). And thanks! It's nice to go modern for a change. But don't expect me with a ceramic Sub anytime soon!
