  1. Oh gotcha! Sorry for the confusion! And yes, if you feel the "value added" benefits of this forum, a membership donation is the way to go! Good luck with your search!
  2. Should you decide to part with that one, please, please let me know! I love regulator watches and that one especially catches my eye for some reason. It is truly unique! If you aren't looking to sell, would you mind sharing where you sourced this one?
  3. I will add this......one of the greatest eating experiences I have ever had was in the Mandalay Bay at Rum Jungle. It is a Brazilian style feast. Eight meat courses and lots of sides. Worth every penny. They bring out each different meat on a giant skewer, cut of a slab for you and then bring the next one about 5 minutes later. Once you have tried all 8, you can then request more of the ones you liked the most. It's all you can eat, but I usually only make through the 8 samplings and then have one or two more tries of the salmon and the sausages. Oh, and they have over 140 different types of rum. Hence the name
  4. Happy Birthday Marty. You may be turning 48, but you should celebrate like you were 24!!
  5. The Chanel J12 comes in quartz and has a nice larger black ceramic watch as well as a nice small ladies model in white. That's what my fiancee wants as well. That's what we get for wishing our girlfriends/wives were into watches!
  6. Amazing variety! I love the B&R Tourbillon! The Grand Carrera in SS is pretty sweet too!
  7. I'm confused. You say you want to buy one, but you already have a 9411? And a quite nice one at that!
  8. I live in LA, but I'm always up for a drive to Vegas. It's only 4 -5 hours away. If you do come out, we should definitely gather up some folks for a pint! CES is usually held between the Venetian and the Hilton, so some really close hotels would be the Venetian, Treasure Island, The Wynn, the Hilton and the Mirage. Check into those ones first to see what sort of rates you can get. Any time there is a convention in Vegas, prices go up considerably. It all depends on what your budget is, and what you would like to do while you are visiting.
  9. Wow Seafoam! It looks great!!!! Glad you are happy with it. What, if you don't mind me asking, did you have done to it? Wearing my WM9v1 today while my 9411 is getting its new crystal installed:
  10. That sure is a unique looking rolex. Can't decide if it's for me yet, but it is stunning!
  11. Glad I inspired you RM!!! I would stay away from the Bay. I would have many concerns about it's authenticity. Try the link vlydog posted and see if you have any luck. I have seen them priced between $2,500 and $4,000 depending on the condition. I originally wanted to build a 9401 but the parts became available for the 9411 so I went for it. In the end I am very happy that I did. Good luck with your search!!!
  12. Wow avitt!!!! The Maori engravings are even more spectacular in your photos than the ones on their website. An absolutely stunning looking watch!!! Well done and congrats!
  13. We always use a fake tree.....which in thinking about it, it's kinda funny. Fake watch = Fake Tree
  14. Thanks for the comments! Yes, the dial is outstanding, and the Ziggy lume is ridiculous! The vintage tritium look fits the dial and age of the watch so nicely! As for the cost, I haven't totalled everything up yet, but I would guess in the neighborhood of $2k. Before the gen crown & tube and gen bracelet, I was at around $1300. Yes, i could have spent a little more and bought a gen, but I would have had to pay for it all at once. This way, I can distribute the cost over several months. Also, when I started out, I didn't plan for finding so many gen parts. I figured I'd get an MBW case, some sort of donor movement, rep bracelet, etc..... I didn't think it would have been possible to find so many great bits for this watch. This was and is going to be my daily beater watch, and I wanted it to be as close to perfect as possible. @Tribal - thanks! That means a lot coming from you!
  15. IMO, to each their own. If you can contribute and choose to, then awesome. If you don't then I certainly have no problem with that. Especially with you Doc. I have seen some great posts by you and you contribute in your own way. This is an amazing community here and there are so many members who contribute with great write ups, reviews, photos and just helpful suggestions or comments. That's what I get out of it and that's why I am a platinum member and love to buy as many raffle tickets as I can. (Still haven't won anything yet though , but I hope to one day!) As for the "trolls", karma is a bitch and it will always come back to bite you in the a$$ some day.
  16. Thanks upland! Already have a few NATO straps for this one, but I am going to enjoy the gen bracelet for a while first!
  17. @arthur - yes they are starting to get quite expensive, that's for sure. That was why I went down the "build it yourself" path. It certainly was time consuming, but well worth it in the end! I got to wear the watch for three days, and now it's off for a crystal installation. It will be the final piece. Can't wait, as the current crystal seems to be a 127 and the cyclops is just a little off center. The gen T125 should finish off this beauty nicely!
  18. That's a quite intriguing concept billo! Thanks for sharing that!
  19. @Lani ~ Thank you my friend! As I said, it was your's and Ubi's twin which inspired the build. @By-Tor ~ yes they have gone up considerably in price over the years. It's amazing how expensive they have gotten. @ TJ ~ cheers my friend! I have to say, this is such an amazingly comfortable watch to wear. I completely forgot I was wearing it last night when I walked into a Tourneau dealer. Asked to look a the Breitling Aerospace, and then noticed I was wearing my Tudor. I handed it over to my fiancee and the sales rep asked me if the watch was my daily wearer. I nodded and he asked "Is that a Rolex?" Before I could answer, my fiancee, almost with a child like defiance, announced "Noooooo! It's a Tudor!!" It was the cutest and funniest thing I think I have ever heard her say! She knows NOTHING about watches or my watch collection ~ but, bless her heart, she puts up with all my ramblings and multiple glances at my wrist when i am wearing a new toy. She knows this project was very near and dear to my heart, so in spite of the fact that she doesn't know much about my hobby, it's nice to know she's paying attention! The sales rep just shrugged, clearly not knowing what my fiancee was talking about and proceeded to fumble about with the Aerospace. When I asked him to show me the functions of the watch, he could not make it work. All he could do was show me how to change the day of the week! I was shocked. When i asked him how do I access the other functions, he said "Well, I am not that familiar with this watch, but I am sure it says it in the manual." Man, you expect me to drop $3400 on a Ti Breitling Aerospace, and yet you can't even figure out how to turn the crown to change the modes?
  20. It's definitely different, but I must admit, I quite like it! I love regulator style watches!
  21. Still wearing my Tudor 9411 Snow Flake:
  22. @ ed ~ yes, I found a tutorial for re-sizing. Need to install the gen spring bars though. Currently installed with crappy rep spring bars. I struggled quite a bit with the 2mm spring bars and gave up. Wanted to finally wear the watch! @ gavidoc ~ thanks again! I hope we will source this case sometime in the future. It's a great case!
  23. I couldn't agree more TJ. There is definitely something special about these Tudor subs that make them stand out from the crowd! The nice comfortable, light feel of a submariner without the worries of the WIS crowd wondering if it is a gen Rolex or not. Of course, having a 90% gen Tudor sub is another way to ensure that you will not be called out!
  24. You could say I am definitely a proud, proud member of the Tudor club TJ! Thanks! @dluddy - thanks! Yes, I am in love with this one too!
