  1. Yes it sure does. Not torch bright, but it definitely glows
  2. Here's a nice little side by side with a gen 7031 (which happened to be set to the 3rd as well )
  3. Another historic timer for today Finally got the new date wheel installed so it doesn't get stuck on day 8 or day 30
  4. Finally had some free time to snap a few pics. Also had to wait a while as the date wheel that i got with my 7734 movement had a couple of broken teeth on it and it got stuck on day 8 and day 30. Now I have installed the new DW and it's ready for prime time!!! (Unfortunately, the new date wheel isn't as nicely aged as the one i had, but it still looks pretty good) On to the pics: And the two brothers side by side:
  5. Now wouldn't that be something???? No where near ready for anything like that yet F, but maybe someday No kidding. That stuff is not cheap at all, and I imagine one would go through those gallon bottles fairly quickly.
  6. Wow what a beauty! Can't wait to see some more pics, but I like what I see so far! Well done!!!!
  7. Man that 7031 is looking good B!!! Wearing my SOXA for Wednesday:
  8. Thanks! Still waiting on the cleaning solutions, but I did test it out with just distilled water in the cups to test out the ultrasonic action. I must say, this thing is quite noisy!!! It does, however, work quite well!!!
  9. Sick 'em killer!!! Hahahaha. Cute dog! Great pics of a great looking watch! Very very nicely (yet subtly) aged!
  10. Great side by side! I asked Andrew if I could get the Ultimate Santos 100, but add in the SS bracelet from the "non-ultimate" Santos and he said no. He claims the case sizes are slightly different and they won't work together. The search continues for an Ultimate w/SS Bracelet I guess.
  11. Great comparison Pete! Thanks for taking the time to do this!
  12. Just ordered some cleaning solutions for it today. Got the following: Zenith Formula 67 Cleaning Fluid Non-Ammoniated 206 Zenith Drizebrite Rinsing Solution Can't wait to try it out on one of my A6497's
  13. May not have the same voice, but it is still several times better than most singers these days! What a great clip and that set is incredible! Love the triple tube TV's in the background!! Must have made for a very enjoyable show!
  14. At this point a replacement set of hands is probably your best bet. In some cases, you can do some repairs. If the tube was enlarged during the removal process, a staking set can help close the tube back down so that it actually grabs the pinion. If the tube has separated from the hand, that is also something that can be repaired, but it is quite a skilled repair job and not for the faint of heart. Freddy's post above shows a great fix for you if you are up for it. Good luck!
  15. Wow....just wow. Maybe I should have sent him the free set of tools I gave away a few months ago. It had a decent set of tweezers in it
  16. Thanks guys. @Jkay - go big or go home has always been my motto! When I dive into a hobby, I go all the way. Besides, just like building a Franken watch, finding these gems is more fun than using them I have to say.... using an Ultrasonic Cleaner from the 70's that is powered with Vacuum tubes is somewhat satisfying!!! Love seeing those 6CD6 power tubes glow away!
  17. Just arrived in the mail today, my new Bulova Watchmaster WT Ultrasonic Cleaning system. Now that I have a watch timing machine, and new oilers & oils, all I needed was an ultrasonic cleaner to clean up the watch movement parts before I attempt to oil it. Found this on the internet from New Jersey and had to jump on it
  18. I know it sucks that you didn't get what you want, but please don't thread crap on other peoples posts who are a) very pleased with their watch, and talking about a watch from a completely different seller. Keep your comments to your own thread.
  19. Welcome benk! You have definitely found a group of very enthusiastic folk here. There is a fantastic group of modders here so enjoy the time reading through all the great posts and builds!
  20. Wow that's a beautiful movement!! Makes you appreciate the watch that much more! Thanks for sharing.
  21. Great read, and definitely funny ending! It's funny what our significant others will say when in those sort of situations. My wife has definitely made some pretty amusing comments with regards to my collection
