The Daytona pair in my pictures above are called frankensteins; these are self made on my workspace at home. I basically found all the parts and assembled everything. Below are some old pictures... Old camera and less than optimal lighting set up, so please forgive the quality of these images: This would be the first option I would suggest, as the current variety of replicas available are not great; the El Primero movement is difficult to replicate correctly. However, there is a new A7750 movement out there with the subsidiary dial outputs configured to a more similar layout and spacing format as the El Primero, but it's still a little thick in profile/height (resulting in a thicker watch) and it has yet to show up in a Daytona replica. Still, this would make for a far more visually accurate replication, at least from the topside (and should be substantially less expensive than going with a franken project)...

Sadly, I'm down to just the white dialed Cosmo now... Kruzer00 is enjoying the black dialed twin under his ownership, however!

For aftermarket... Clark's is definitely a good choice. Good stuff...

For a good Daytona... My advice is to build one using genuine parts and an El Primero 400. That's the path I took... It's an expensive project to endure, but the end results are worthwhile (in my opinion).

You could try Yuki... I think their prices are a bit more in line with reason. The only downside to this project is that procurring a good dial is going to be 1) Near impossible to find and 2) damn expensive! But this would make for a sweet watch!!

The 4th generation watch is based upon a very specific case; the easiest way to identify are 1) The position of the He Valve (slightly above 10:00, as per the genuine) and 2) The coin edged bezel. This is the only model that I've found that will easily accept genuine parts as the dimensions and size are on par with it's genuine counterpart. In dluddy's particular instance however, the genuine bezel would not fit as a 1:1 replacement, thus requiring slight machining to faciltate fit; on my case, the complete bezel assembly was a direct swap and snapped on without any additional work required. Here is what a later 4th gen looks like out of the box: Note the location of the He Valve along with the shape of the bezel edge. After modification: The 42mm PO from Narikaa is a slight bit different; the diameter of the crystal, bezel and dial are all a bit larger than gen, and therefore those parts will not be a direct exchange. Regarding the crown; I believe that this is the one item that is not a 1:1 swap with any of the models as the tube is slightly too small for the case. Most people epoxy their crown tubes in, and some have gone so far as to laser weld it in. I myself have been looking for a solution that requires neither glue nor weld, but rather a metal sleeve to allow for a press fit. I haven't gotten around to it just yet, however...

Unfortunately, I don't think the same level of attention has gone into the mid-size 168622 reps; the ones I've seen for the Rolesium have the usual problems- Dial and bezel are the incorrect color, bezel markers are the incorrect shape, YACHT-MASTER font is not red or bold enough... And then there's the SELs. This might be one where it's just best to get her the gen

I've only got one, so I guess that makes it easy My modded PAM002 Pre-A; -Jimmy case -(proper fitting) Sapphire crystal -FGD dial -Swiss 6497 -Custom Tap10 UT stem -Turkish (gen?) crown -unknown CG -DSN caseback -Dirk Deluxe PAV style strap Even if I had others, I think this one would still be my favorite; a good majority of the parts had come from a great friend of mine (who has also posted in this thread), and so it carries quite a lot of sentimental value. The only PAM that I think could come close is the old school EL 2893 PAM029 that I had a few years ago and foolishly sold.

At one time, I rather enjoyed and preferred the well worn and heavily abused look of vintages. Times and tastes change however, and these days I prefer my vintage pieces to look like well cared for pieces. The condition of my Tudor franken is how I prefer my oldies to be... Not NOS, but with enough patina to give it some character...
