  1. rek- I would suggest removing at least one permanent link from the bracelet to help facilitate fit on your wrist. Without removing a permanent link, the length of the bracelet will be an issue since there isn't much give with the links (coupled with the integrated lugs); you'll likely find that 1) the links will bind up and make the watch very uncomfortable, particularly at the clasp and 2) the bracelet will not conform to the shape of your wrist, leaving gaps/spaces to either side of your wrist. With one permanent link removed, here's my old MBK on my 6.8" wrist: Note how well the bracelet fits I wish I had taken some before pics to illustrate how badly it fit prior. And one final mod I did prior to selling it; the cannon pinion mod, which eliminates that cut down seconds hand: Hope this helps... R
  2. It's so dark, it looks almost like patina'd PVD! I lubs it!
  3. Nice 89, R! I don't think they make this one anymore...
  4. Looks like a Sea-gull (oft times mistaken or misrepresented as a Venus)...
  5. Hmmm. With regards to basics, I would start here in the repair and upgrade section: Click me. You can find a good selection of helpful topics here, including this very helpful thread: Edge's Guide To Some Rolex Modifications . As this thread is a few years old, some of the modifications may have been revised with some newer tricks that may or may not be more efficient or suited to your needs. Also, it won't cover things like swapping in a genuine 15xx movement, but usually such topics can be raised in the relevant sub forums for help and information Anyways, this is a good place to start. I'm sorry to point you to an already existing thread, but the way I see it, there's no need to reinvent the wheel, so to speak.
  6. What specific DIY topic are you looking for?
  7. Not gator, and not on a 3717, but I do concur that their straps are excellent!
  8. Man, these are very nice, but I've learned my lesson with Omega After modding and building with gen parts, the finished project usually comes out costing only slightly less than buying a used gen Still, might be nice just to pick one up... Regarding Mary- She is indeed a fantastic dealer. Great communication and a pleasure to work with. I rank her up there among the best!
  9. Great images and effects! Very well done! I've been eyeing the BP's from a distance; I love them, but fear that they may be too much for my 6.80" wrist
  10. I'm no expert on DSSD's, but I thought the other big indication was the caseback being multipiece for the latest version? I could be wrong, though...
  11. Holy bejeebus. That thing is just ridiculous!
  12. I can't even wear 904L for long durations, as the high nickel content causes a less than ideal allergic reaction with my skin
  13. Gorgeous pair of Portus! And even more so knowing that they have reliable engines under the hood! Well done, and very creative thinking in devising a solution to correct these otherwise problematic movements! Man, that Chief AR makes such a huge difference with regards to the aesthetics...
  14. Zig has been a huge part of many of my personal projects, having performed amazing work on all of my most prized movements (everything from vintage handwind Valjoux to El Primero 400's). His meticulous work, knowledge, experience and artistic eye are legendary within these forum halls We're very fortunate to have him with us.
  15. Another IWC; franken 3717 for today:
  16. Very interested as well. Thank you for taking the time to do this for our forum
  17. My apologies as my post was really made in jest in light of this thread I am not quite ready to part with this one (even if it does carry the stigma of being the 'paying john's' choice of watch). The basis for this one is a 42mm 4th generation PO. It has had it's fair share of modifications: -Correct HeV location case -Genuine dial -Genuine hands -Genuine bezel -Genuine bezel insert -2892 datewheel -Genuine bracelet/end links -Genuine clasp Some pics of this one during it's build: Building the Ultimate 4th Gen 42mm PO. Need to eventually do a gen crown and tube and crystal, but for now it's set Cheers, //ubi
  18. Gen hands definitely make things much more simple, as they're a direct fit. Gen dial just adds to the overall picture Add some chief AR, and it's a keeper! The gen hand set also eliminates the brass tubes, which is a nice touch as well: If you like, I have an extra set of rep hands I can send to you; perhaps you can have this extra set sent out for modification to fit the Swiss 7750 ahead of time. When you get them back, you'll be able to have a 1:1 swap without the need for any downtime.
  19. Val- If I recall correct, the subdials hand tubes need to be reduced in size, and the center seconds hand needs to be broached (or it's the other way around). The pinions for these hands differ between the Swiss and Asian 28800bph 7750 movements. Zigmeister did mine for me; the process for reducing tubes is best done with a collet and I believe broaching requires some experience as well, especially considering the small size of the tube for this hand. Wish I could double check this for you; since I upgraded to a genuine dial and hands on mine, I ended up sending my old hand set off to Lanikai, so I don't have a point of reference any longer.
