One thing is for sure... I've never seen David send a watch with hands that scratched. Perhaps it could have been the result of someone else installing them? If the hands have been removed, it's possible that the dial has been removed as well. Maybe someone else glued the 6:00 subdial hand on? Might explain some things...

Hmmmm... I've not seen a DW dial with bubbled paint like that before. Not saying that some aren't like this, but in the ones I have handled, none have been like that. Lume can tend to be irregular at times. As for bracelet... 78350 is correct for the links; endlinks, however should be a 2 digit (for rivit bracelets) or 3 digit (for folded and heavy link bracelets) ref's.

Vintage acrylics don't click. They're bi-directional, and are tensioned in place by a washer spring. The uni-directional click bezel wasn't intro'd until the mid 80's with the transitionals (16800 and 16660). These also had sapphire crystals and matte dials...

Well... It will certainly be interesting. '06 is supposed to be the last year for most 15xx caliber support. The point of servicing shouldn't be a problem for most watchmakers, but I'm thinking that sourcing parts will eventually be where the problems bottle neck. Perhaps we'll see a whole new market arise for aftermarket parts out of all this? With Rolex keeping parts distribution tight, I think this may be the direction things end up going...

Exactly the reason why I felt collectors may some day abandon vintage Rolex watches. No support. Saw it happen when the Bubblebacks crashed... And we may see it again. Who knows. Of course, this may all change if/when the Heritage Center gets going. Who knows?

One of the reasons why you don't want to do a lot of manual winding of the ETAs. Over time, wear and damage can occur to the click wheels.

After working on this one off and on for over a year, I can finally call this one done, too. My MBW 1665 Great White; the one vintage MBW in my collection that has endured the course of time. One of my all time favorites... Great heft, wears nicely on the wrist and a pleasure to look at. Got some mods into this one... Of course, I must say that this watch has been my test platform for R&D, triala nd error, etc. The final list of mods is as follows... -MBW case, bezel, retaining ring -MBW dial -ETA 2846 slow beat movement -Watchmeisters vintage datewheel overlay -Genuine T-39 (flat) -Genuine bezel insert -Genuine vintage Triplock crown -Genuine tube -Genuine 580 ends -Genuine 78360 bracelet -Genuine 93150 clasp -Genuine springbars -Drilled lugs -Caseback paint removed Some eye candy... Well, really, the Watchmeisters did it This project is a collaboration amongst a few of us who are passionate about our hobby and watches. As we all know, the date fonts have always been one of those small details that have gone long overlooked by the factories (and by this, I'm speaking in the general sense across the board). However, as we all know, this small detail is in fact a very LARGE detail when it comes to total accuracy as a whole. In some cases, it is perhaps the final 1% or 2% missing from having that 'perfect' watch. Our goal was to close that gap, and in this case, that detail missing is no more. Personally speaking, this particular project has me very excited as the very incorrect date font that I've been looking at for so long on my MBW is now finally right! For the first time in months, I'm wearing my 1665, and I must say- It's so good that it may take over the role of daily wearer for a while, and the El Primero Daytona may see some box time At any rate... Perfect! All that's missing is a bunch of buildings, a Starbucks (or Peet's) on every corner, clogged highways and some brown smog! Add those to the scene, and I'm so there! just kidding! Paradise! Absolute paradise... But, I hope they have at least a couple of 10G connections up there (just a few; like 20 or so) for highspeed access. Can't live without RWG, you know!

Hmmmm... My list is far too large. Too many great folks here whom I've become great friends with. Perhaps, someday, we'll have to have a national RWG meet...
