  1. Ah, so you are getting the dial and then going to decide which of the multitude of DSSDs to put it into? Neat approach.
  2. I remember you mentioning that's how you figured the gen was made but I hadn't realized you were "cooking" one up!
  3. I guess he thinks everybody he deals with is stupid! I can't believe, though, that people are actually bidding on it!
  4. What a shame, maybe change the gearing? ;-) Other than that little glitch it shows promise!
  5. I wish I hadn't parted mine out for the band! Reckon one of our Aussie Bros oughta rat the creep out? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/MENS-ROLEX-WATCH_W0QQitemZ270480969611QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Watches?hash=item3ef9ec0f8b
  6. I have been looking for a list or chart that lists various O-ring sizes and, so far, have not found anything. I need sizes such as all of the o-rings used in the various twin/trip lock crown systems, Daytona rep pushers, common case back O-rings, etc. After breaking the case back O-ring on my Noobmariner last time I had the back off (was originally pinched when I got it and had a weak spot) I decided it would be a good idea to have a good stock of appropriately sized O-rings on hand. Anybody who has any sizing information please chime in and I'll compile a "list/chart".
  7. I don't really understand your comment but I had read your Daytona article several months ago and it's a fantastic creation.
  8. Rosnik, as I said these discrepancies have been discussed "ad nauseam", I know it is incorrect no need to beat the dead horse any "deader" than it already is! You suggest I buy a gen, I suppose you're right - I should have went down to Academy and bought another Gen Casio chrono. Hike, no, this is the A7750 version, the TAG Chrono I bought a while back is quartz (any protests and wailing from the purists will be completely ignored) as I occasionally need a chrono. If I would have liked the styling of the TAG I would have used it instead of getting this poor beast...
  9. I got my new Daytona yesterday and everything appears to check out fine. I'm not going to post a ton of pictures as everybody has seen these before and all of the discrepancies have been discussed ad nauseam so just couple short comments and a few small pix. I have always liked black dialed watches so I bought this with the black dial and, I'm sad to say, I'm a bit let down. I think this would have looked much nicer with the white dial and also feel that the incorrect subdial spacing wouldn't be so apparent on the white dial. But, all that said, it is a pretty nice looking watch, it fulfills my need for a "Rolex" chronograph, and I can now sell my once worn TAG quartz chrono! I think I will look around, though, for a white dial and do a swap some day...
  10. I received this from trevorwatch today. It is a compromise...
  11. My offer stands, if somebody could send me one (gen or rep, it doesn't matter as long as it is correct) I'll take measurements and see if it's feasible to make one. Or, measure all aspects and e-mail me a sketch. Just being a ring it doesn't seem like it should be very difficult...
  12. I received my "running seconds at 9" today and other than the subdial spacing it looks fantastic! I knew about the spacing before I ordered it but I thought it a reasonable compromise for a more reliable movement in a watch I was only likely to wear when I needed a stopwatch.
  13. I have some small conventional machines in my shop and I push the "green button" on a Mazak at work... :-\ I've toyed with the idea of making a case but with no CNC it would be extremely labor intensive...
  14. It will be interesting to see if any incremental improvements (or steps backwards) occur over time...
  15. I knew that a lot of smaller POs were being closed and consolidated but I never imagined it would affect "Express" mail so negatively. Well, it will be here tomorrow... :-)
  16. I remember not longer than just a couple months ago the EMS shipping was "almost" treated like an express service, the USPS used to often make a special trip mid-morning to deliver, and if it got out of customs in the morning it was likely to be in my hands the next day. Lately it seems like EMS packages are practically treated as Parcel Post! My seconds at 9 Daytona hit customs last Friday, got out of customs early Sunday morning, and didn't make it to the local sort facility until this morning! I've noticed this for the last 2 or three shipments... It's just irritating!
  17. Thanks, Gio, coming from you that makes me stand a bit taller!
  18. If somebody has a dimensioned drawing of this ring I could possibly make one. Or, if there is enough call for this part maybe somebody could send me a spare, I could measure and make a drawing, and return the part.
  19. Your attempt number 3 looks very good. So far, knock, knock, I haven't had the actual pearl fall out but if I do I will definitely try this procedure.
  20. If you do decide on the 4813 you are going to have to get it from Eurotimez as they are the only ones (in all of my research) that have the correct tall-canon version. I can personally state that cousins and ofrei ship the low canon and ofrei told me they only come in a low version! Of course, if you are building a no-date then you can use the low one.
  21. I'm pretty much the same mind as you, and every watch I have is a black dial except for the Daytona I ordered which made it through customs this weekend!!! That said, this really looks, how should I say, "crisp" and "clean". I cast my vote for the "don't violate" option...
