  1. From what I remember he would be "skeeter bait"! That is unless your skeeters down south of the range are little bitty buggers...
  2. Thanks, T, I kinda like it but I am a sucker for dark blue dials no matter how incorrect!
  3. I'd say enough piling on, it serves no constructive purpose. If one can afford to I feel it's good to "experiment" on occasion if for no other reason than to satisfy curiosity. Thanks, susanm, for the honest and frank review.
  4. For me, this is Friday so to quote James Brown, "Yowwwwww, I feel good..."!!! Gettin' some Jumbo action on today:
  5. I don't know that "emery boards" are available in a grit fine enough to do anything other than serous material removal. But, if there were they would be perfect.
  6. Part two of my weekend Datejust double-header...
  7. My God! Can you believe this mongrel is over $1000 right now!!!??
  8. Amazing... I feel like a caveman with a stone hammer and chisel!
  9. I just hit all of the "edges" with some 600 grit paper wrapped around a paint stir stick...
  10. The engraving on the case-back is the current "late model" engraving so that would be about right.
  11. Welcome. I think the quality dials from the usual sources (Yuki, ingod, NDT, etc.) should fit fine. Since LHOOQ has ran out of hand-me-down dials he has rejected I think he had determined that the ingod dial was the best at the time he built his "herd".
  12. Time to get out the file...
  13. The movement doesn't look bad and the dial might not be too bad in another case but somebody outbid my 14 cent bump! Was that you, F? That IS a strange looking case...
  14. Put this back on after screwing the rotor back down and Loc-Titing all of the bracelet screws! At work, Sunday, it started rattling and toward the end of the day I took off my gloves and the watch fell of onto my bench! Searching did not reveal the screw but after sweeping sifting through the crap in the dustpan revealed the screw!!! First good thing that has happened to me in years...

No worse than this... How the hell did their translation software come up for Couer (French for heart, I think) for Oyster!

That must be how the Chinese spell "winding"! This is my franken:
  17. This morning, part of the Pepsi Generation I am...
  18. highoe - I'm not sure, messing with sheet metal is kind of a PITA. Maybe a die with corresponding properly shaped "punch" could be machined to get the bends and folds started but I'm not sure I have the patience for that!

I've ordered a half dozen dials if anybody wants to "roll their own".
