  1. I'll see if I can come up with some dimensions... I know how they're made but I didn't have the foresight to take any measurements!
  2. I bought a "budget" version from Silix a couple years agao and I think it's a very sharp looking watch.
  3. M, I gotta say that you get around more than anybody I know! Wearin' ol' Blue today...
  4. Date? Date? We don't need no stinkin' date!!!
  5. I have messed with the Glow, Inc. lume and although it dries to a texture that I don't find attractive on newer watches the wrinkly texture sometimes doesn't look too bad on a vintage piece. It uses a water based (latex, I think) binder and I tint it with acrylic paints and strong coffee. This is the lume mixed with a little strong black coffee and a drop or two of "Yellow Ochre" water-based acrylic paint.
  6. The mainspring "barrel" is the silverish sliver in the upper right edge. The mainspring is inside this assembly.
  7. I have seen clone movements that use a different stem and I recently could not find the correct stem for one of my A2824 movements so I out the ETA gears in the keyless and used an ETA stem. But, they are often the same...
  8. Don't be a wuss! I have a little wallet card proclaiming I survived -54 F (ambient) during the Jack Frost Field Exercise at Ft. Wainwright in the late 70s... Going down to Anchorage during the dead of winter was like visiting the lower 48!
  9. I think the 2784 is desired as it is the "correct" movement but If that doesn't concern you then the 2836 is great. The font on that DW is different from those in my PD Chrono and Oysterdate
  10. Thanks, Chief. The more I look at it, though, the more I see it belongs in a vintage type case. Someday when I get caught up...
  11. M, they do look very similar. The case is a rep case.
  12. It's silver with a slight patina. I really like the markers, never seen this kind before:
  13. I don't know if the polished lugs were "proper" for anything but I'm not a fan and they are now brushed.
  14. I need to get banned from fleabay because I just can't resist a nice gen DJ dial! I had finally gotten my watch box under control and I found this so I'll need to put something else up on the block if I decide to keep it... :-\ I used a sample "later model" case I had ordered from my parts guy for this one since I had not used this style before. The markings between the lugs are nice as well as inside the case back and it has what I think is referred to as the "dome" bezel. I'm still a bit undecided about the bezel but it may grow on me. This case is for a 2836 movement so it's profile is not quite as slim as the cases meant for 2824 movements but still looks nice. This has rehaut engraving, which I generally don't like, but things line up fairly well so I may leave it alone. Since taking these pics I have finely brushed the tops of the lugs since I'm not overly fond of polished lugs. If I decide to keep this I'll probably order the "correct" style SEL bracelet and clasp Here's a couple of pics:
  15. Remember, macro shots and decals don't play well together...
  16. Hmmm, I wonder why I can still see it? Oh, nice Blue!
